The Ger's Contract Marriage [BL]
Chapter 545: Poop Ahoy

Chapter 545: Poop Ahoy

The guard escorted the village head out before quickly returning to Xu Feng’s side and leading him on the path to Blooming Courtyard. Xu Feng was thankful for the man’s discretion. He only had a small picture of what had been going on in the last few months, but it was a vivid one.

The man seemed a bit suspicious at first, but now, Xu Feng felt more confident following his lead. He had a somewhat good grasp on judging people... it was good enough.

The guard seemed to look at the hidden bundles on Xu Feng’s body with respect, and affection—possibly—anyone who instantly loved his sons, was good people!

From the guard house, they passed the main reception hall. It was still quite early, but even under the early morning light, it was clear the estate had been kept well.

Just peering at the road to the main kitchen and dining area where residents of the three courtyards could come together to entertain guests and enjoy meals, everything was well manicured. It was cleaner than if Xu Feng was given several days to maintain it himself.

Their small group passed the side pathway that led to the renovated and expanded servants’ quarters and the livestock areas. It felt right being back here.

Not that he missed... okay, he did miss being pampered. Xu Feng couldn’t lie to himself, what would be the point?

Just then, the bundle on his back moved around restlessly. For some reason, the master of this beautiful residence felt nervous. Would it be a poop, a pee, a food break, or something else?

He wasn’t confident in his child-raising skills. Did parents just wake up ready to care for their children? If they did, Xu Feng would have missed this awakening. He’d done what he could in the space, but now that he should be so close to his family and friends, he felt a nervousness.

What if he did something wrong? He wasn’t sure if he would be able to interpret what his children needed. He wasn’t actually a mind reader after all, although, he could smell if they needed a diaper change.

It felt much more trivial than all the rumors swirling around Yilin town, and even possibly the capital, but somehow it felt more real to the silver-haired ger.

After moving past this reception hall and the side pathway, the main pathway which Xu Feng remembered as being surrounded by greenery, was a bit lacking. It wasn’t that the plants weren’t cared for, but the change of seasons had dulled the scenery.

Previously, there was a plant ability user/dragon—it was still strange calling himself a dragon—who kept up all the greenery of Nanshan Estate even past their correct seasons. So the splashes of red, orange, and brown were less vibrant with more dormant plants framing the walkway.

Before they reached the fork in the road that would lead to the three main courtyards, Xu Feng saw a back he was somewhat familiar with. The person seemed to hesitate between the rightmost courtyard and the middle courtyard.

Where they lost? No, that shouldn’t be the case. Midwife Lee should have been living in Nanshan Estate for some time, since even before the children’s birth. Xu Feng rubbing the rich foot of Xiao Long to ease his twitching watched the agitated midwife curiously.

"Mister Lee," Xu Feng almost didn’t know who the guard was addressing until Midwife Lee looked back with a bit of shock on his face. The guard had used a very respectful tone that he didn’t even have for Lu Lizheng.

"Are you looking for Sir Min?" The man continued with even more respect. "He should be training in the back of the courtyards. I’ll call him to Blooming after escorting our Master back to the main courtyard."

"Brother Min—" Lee Hua had started before realizing there was someone with the guard. His face had seemed ashamed when he initially glanced over and caught the silver hair. "Welcome back Master...." Then his voice trailed off as his brows furrowed.

He looked up once. Twice. Three times. Each time his brows became tighter and tighter.

Lee Hua seemed to be thinking about something far away, something Xu Feng couldn’t read just from the look on his face. Normally, he might have let whatever was going on play out to its fullest extent, but the fidgeting on his back turned into fidgeting from his front too.

Xiao Long was clearly uncomfortable in some way, but Da Long seemed to have woken up completely. He wasn’t as squirmy as Xu Feng’s younger son, instead, he let his dad know he was awake by reaching out his little hands and rubbing the chest he was perched on.

For a child who seemed so relaxed when they first met in the space—when he wasn’t keeping crystal nuclei from his brother’s gums or crying from hunger—he was much more gentle than Xu Feng thought he would be.

Gentle or not, both boys were awake, or waking up, and it was impractical to keep them bundled up in the cape. He still needed to check if Xiao Long had wet his diaper, or see if they needed something to eat.

In short, Xu Feng had dad duties to attend to.

"Midwife Lee, you can wait for Min at Blooming Courtyard if you need to. He’s currently in charge of security in Nanshan Estate while Jian and Yang are away?" Xu Feng’s question was directed at the guard who nodded, affirming Xu Feng’s thoughts.

"Let’s head over quickly. I need to speak with Xu Si." Xu Feng added these last two statements, before moving quickly toward his courtyard. He wasn’t trying to be rude nor was he sure if Xu Si or Xu San, for that matter, were in Blooming Courtyard.

There was a slight smell that was growing with each second. There wasn’t any crying yet, but Xiao Long had become eerily still. Too still even.

Xu Feng wanted to go home too. Blooming Courtyard was home to him, a place of complete safety and belonging, but also his youngest soon seemed to be generating some foul-smelling poop...

He never knew apple sauce could smell so bad. How frequently did babies poop? These were things Xu Feng had never thought about before, but now he regretted not taking an interest in. He read lots of books in Donghua about babies while he was pregnant, but not enough...

Xu Feng wished he’d put aside some modern baby books. Sorting through the piles in his space was going to take him some time.

The silver-haired ger walked with real purpose, uncaring if the two behind him could keep up, or if anyone was going to find Min. He didn’t remember the guard’s name, but he did remember Min, and it made sense Xuan Jian would leave one of his men in charge of the security here when he and Xuan Yang were gone from the estate in Xu Feng’s absence.

Things in Nanshan Estate were probably in better condition than when he left. There were always uncertainties, but Xu Feng trusted those close to him and he trusted those close to Xuan Jian as well. His man was a good leader.

Xu Feng still paused at the courtyard gate. It wasn’t like he wouldn’t enter, but still...

"I’ll go fetch Sir Min." The guard who was a few paces behind Xu Feng called out with a bow. The man seemed plenty sturdy, but he was a bit out of breath. That’s when Xu Feng realized he’d nearly flown from the fork in the road to his courtyard.

The guard and Lee Hua had a hard time keeping up with him as he power walked ahead of them. Looking back, Lee Hua was still several feet away, as he made his way over as quickly as he could.

Xu Feng felt a small pang of guilt, but the smelly smell, was stronger, and the boy on his back and the one on his front were now fidgeting. One couldn’t stand the smell that had come out of his backside, and the other couldn’t stand his brother’s smelly smell.

Before the children began crying, Xu Feng was ready to get back to his room so he could change Xiao Long and deal with his first poop diaper!

"Thank you." He greeted the guard and nodded to Lee Hua who had nearly caught up. He could talk to the other ger in a minute. It seemed like the midwife had something brewing with all the expressions he’d just seen.

Whatever it was had to wait.

"May the Master’s blessings endure forever. The hatching of the Young Masters is a sign of heaven’s blessings!" The guard called out with a smile before bowing deeper and turning around, nodding to Lee Hua, and disappearing to find Min.

Xu Feng paused once again. The man seemed overly respectful, but the goodwill was hard to ignore. Xu Feng couldn’t help but smile. The guard was already moving before he could ask for his name, but there would be time for that later.

Now, he had to deal with some poop.
