The Ger's Contract Marriage [BL]
Chapter 456: Are We There Yet?

Chapter 456: Are We There Yet?

Bai Mo’s Perspective:

As the carriage rattled along the uneven road, Momo couldn’t help but reflect on the past seven days of their journey. The days had been too short and the nights peaceful— it was like the world was perfect, but it wasn’t.

Time had flown by in a blur of excitement and anticipation, it was strange.

The kingdom of Donghua unfolded before them like a painting, each new village and town offering glimpses of a world Momo seemed to see for the first time.

The roads, though rough and uneven, had led them on a journey of discovery, revealing hidden corners and unexpected wonders at every turn. Everything seemed more interesting with his current company.

Despite the hardships of travel— the uncomfortable accommodations and the relentless jostling of the carriage, his bottom was beyond sore— Momo found himself reluctant for the journey to end.

There was a sense of exhilaration in the air, a feeling of endless possibility that left his heart racing with each passing day.

The idea of marrying two people was something Momo had never considered before. It was not uncommon for a head of household to have multiple partners, but for Momo, it had always seemed like a distant concept, something reserved for others.

Yet now, as he found himself drawn to both Xu Zeng and Xu Hu Zhe in equal measure with different pulls, he realized that affection knew no bounds.

His parents had set a high standard for love, their devotion to each other serving as a guiding light in Momo’s own life. And while he had always aspired to follow in their footsteps, he couldn’t deny the growing feelings he was nurturing for both Xu Zeng and Xu Hu Zhe.

It was an uncontrollable feeling, two uncontrollable feelings, growing with each passing second. Every interaction was magical in its own way.

The inner romantic in him was set free. He knew it wasn’t like this with Kang Han, he didn’t get butterflies in his belly. It was special. Two people were special to him.

It wasn’t the same feeling, but it was constantly growing for both men. Whether Xu Zeng was a man or a ger, Momo always wanted to pamper him... well sometimes he felt overwhelmed by the other when he was in a male form.

But that could be because they hadn’t brought up the prospect of marriage or being partners at that time. Xu Zeng was aloof, but now, Momo could tell the other was trying, and it made his heart feel warm.

As for the wild animal driving the carriage...

As for Xu Hu Zhe, the man’s wild and untamed nature had earned him the nickname of "wild animal" in Momo’s mind. But beneath that rough exterior lay a heart of gold, a heart that seemed to beat in rhythm with Momo’s own.

The small gestures of care and consideration, from lifting heavy objects to fluffing Momo’s neck rest at night, spoke volumes about Xu Hu Zhe’s true feelings, even if he was unaware of them himself.

It felt strange. Maybe Xu Hu Zhe hadn’t noticed, but he went out of his way to lift things, open doors, and EVEN FLUFF HIS NECKREST at night!

The man moved almost on autopilot not thinking too much about what he was doing, unconsciously pampering the fox.

With each passing moment, Momo felt himself drawn deeper into the intricate dance of love and desire, his heart beating with the promise of what the future might hold.

And as the carriage trundled along, Momo couldn’t help but smile at the thought of the adventures that lay ahead.

The sadness hadn’t ceased to exist in his heart. He wanted to return to Nanshan for the sake of the two eggs that were dormant, but he was enjoying every minute of learning about his two potential partners.

Even their night in the wilderness would be fun! Bai Mo was excited to spend the night under the stars... even if the carriage was making his backside numb... it was a sacrifice he was willing to make for love!

He just needed to keep a certain ger from giving everyone kisses at a moment’s notice. They weren’t married yet. When they returned home, they would need to talk seriously about marriage, it was necessary so Xu Zeng could be indecent to his heart’s content.

Bai Mo’s face was growing redder by the minute, he could see the confusion in Xu Zeng’s own face. He knew he had been thinking some wild thoughts, but they were only thoughts, why was Xu Zeng’s face like that?

Momo was feeling a bit emboldened by their new closeness, or maybe he was a bit influenced by his best friend, he spoke before thinking too deeply.

"Did I say something?"

Xu Zeng simply shook his head, but the look on his face still lingered. It was like he was digesting something.

Bai Mo thought back, what was the last thing he said?

.

.

.

"I’m glad to have met you. I’m very sorry about your parents, but no one will harm you. Your brother isn’t here, but I’ll be your guardian."

.

.

.

"Ahh..." Momo started, feeling flustered. Had he overstepped his bounds? "I don’t mean to say I understand what you and Xu Feng experienced because I lost my dad...umm."

’How could he make this right?’ Bai Mo thought. He had just gotten too comfortable, had he made the other upset?

"Xu Feng and I didn’t grow up together. We were separated as we were hatching." Xu Zeng had a small smile on his face, but Bai Mo still felt conflicted.

"It took a lot of energy to help us hatch, Da Long and Xiao Long will need a lot of energy to hatch. I’m hoping the residual energy from my shell will be enough."

Bai Mo felt like Xu Zeng was changing the topic a bit, but he couldn’t tell how it was being redirected. This was also a topic of interest, so he wouldn’t push.

"How will there still be energy in your shell? You said your dad kept it in a storage artifact, but is there really something that can defy the test of time?"

Xu Zeng’s smile was like a cat with cream, an immortal beast with knowledge more than what Bai Mo had access to in Donghua.

"I’ll show you all the trinkets my dad saved for me."

It sounded like a promise to Bai Mo, and with it, everything seemed okay again. The stiffness in the air disappeared.

Momo nodded in response before changing the topic, "We’ve gone in a circle around this area at least four times."

It was true. They’d seen that exact tree with three broken branches, and a yellow moss growing up to the lowest unbroken branch.

Xu Zeng straightened up, rearranging his posture and the placement of the backpack with his nephews, before he looked out the window.

"We’ll likely be sleeping here tonight."

And he was right. There were no bandits or even a carriage in sight. Their trip from the last town to this lightly wooded forest hadn’t taken too long.

They’d been in the vicinity for about half an afternoon, and with the sun setting, it was obvious this was the place Xu Hu Zhe had picked to "get lost."

There was no huge play this time, but then again neither of them could smell or sense anyone in the area. That didn’t mean there was no one watching them, but Bai Mo felt Xu Zeng and Xu Hu Zhe were just too lazy to do a play.

Xuan Jian had done one, and if Xu Feng was here, he would do the most dramatic play.

"Hehehe," Bai Mo couldn’t help but laugh out loud thinking of the eye-catching ger flailing outside the carriage like a damsel in distress, a beacon for any bandits to hone in on.

"What?" Xu Zeng asked a bit lazily, a small smile on his face as he tapped his foot impatiently. It was clear he wanted out of the carriage.

"Pfft," Bai Mo caught himself with a hand over his mouth. "I was thinking of what type of play Xu Feng would put on for the bandits...

’Was that too insensitive? Xu Zeng did like talking about his brother, but was drawing a comparison between the brothers appropriate?’

The smile that now showed full teeth, had transformed from enchanting to adorable. Bai Mo’s heart squeezed as he looked at the other ger. The topic was clearly not taboo.

"Even though we are brothers, I would never." The words were said with conviction, but the smile wasn’t very serious at all.

"You could try, but you wouldn’t even fool a passing child, not to mention a group of bandits."

Xu Hu Zhe had joined the battle. Bai Mo hadn’t even noticed when the man had started listening in on their conversation, but the jab was well-landed.

Xu Zeng rolled his eyes so hard, that Bai Mo thought he might pass out.

"Hahahaha!"
