The Ger's Contract Marriage [BL] -
Chapter 427: The Right Person
Chapter 427: The Right Person
There was no way, Lee Mo’s happy event which was at least a decade away, should be a problem on Midwife Lee’s mind.
There were so many guardians in this little ger’s life. He spent time nurturing affections while Midwife Lee worried in the corner.
Even Lee An who was more reserved in nature, had eventually become more relaxed with the people of Nanshan Estate.
Min saw no reason why either of these children’s happy events should be a problem. The two kids were being raised as the apple of the eyes of all those closest to the masters of Nanshan Estate.
They were favored by all those favored in the estate.
In Min’s opinion, Lee Hua should be more worried about the reshuffling of the servants in their estate. It was bound to happen, and it was precisely the reason Midwife Lee and his children were here this morning.
No matter what happened when the masters were gone from their home, the other servants and anyone else who might be watching needed to know not to mess with Midwife Lee’s trio.
Neither the ger or his two children were an option.
Min looked from the cozy and soft looking ger in his arms to the bustling courtyard.
Xu Si and Xu San were still searching for the two young masters, Master Jian was somewhere in the far rooms of the main house of Blooming Courtyard—since Xu Feng left, he could no longer sleep in his lover’s room.
His brothers along with a masked Xu Hu Zhe were standing leisurely around the items to be used on the two separate journeys ahead and chatting leisurely.
Finally, a sleepy Master Bai Mo stood guard beside the masked—in the new white mask—Xu Zeng, who seemed to be enjoying the crisp morning air.
Everything seemed normal enough to him... maybe the last group was a bit comical.
Bai Mo was now very close with Xu Zeng after he was previously close with Master Xu Feng. The two brothers had distinct personalities in Min’s mind.
He personally found it hard to get along with Xu Zeng, but with Xu Feng, although the ger was distant at times, as soon as he smiled there was a gust of warmth shared with anyone beside him.
Or maybe it was the fact Xu Feng had found a way to his heart through his stomach. To date, Xu Zeng had never made a meal like his brother often did for them.
Min smiled knowingly. Whether it was their differences or their similarities, both brothers were in fact, kind people.
Even if Xu Zeng was more reclusive and standoffish, the way he doted on the two children beside Min, the martial artist knew he was just a bit awkward.
"You shouldn’t worry about Lee An and Lee Mo’s happy events," Min added at first, then he offhandedly added a second part to his statement. The question.
"Shouldn’t you be more worried about your own?"
"Huh?" Midwife Lee seemed taken aback. "Why would I worry about that?" He didn’t need to be married again. The government wouldn’t come after him, and Lee Hua wouldn’t need to pay any fines.
Being widowed at 20 years old was unfortunate in most people’s eyes, but it didn’t affect Lee Hua anymore.
If he had a safe place to raise his children, that’s all that mattered to him.
But Midwife Lee knew what wealthy families were like, and if you weren’t favored by some master or master’s wife, you would do the most tiring and thankless work.
If that wasn’t it, you would always be the one to take the blame in the household.
It was always like this.
He was the new addition to the estate, with no formal role with Xu Feng gone. Lee Hua needed to solidify his presence. That was all he needed to worry about. What marriage!?
"You are still young, and having a man to help raise—" Midwife Lee seemed annoyed now. His usually calm voice cut in sharply despite keeping his voice low and to an unobtrusive level.
"You are worrying about my marriage, yet you a big bachelor are still unmarried, with no children. You’re not even a widower." Lee Hua shook his head as if confused. "Isn’t it costing you much silver to remain unmarried?"
Even if Brother Min was favored by Master Jian, it didn’t seem right to place all his bets on one person. Even so, when would Brother Min start his own family?
The two were of a similar age, yet one was now a widow with two children, a six year old, and a three year old.
The other was a big man who had no marriage prospects, and was draining the Nanshan Estate—they would have to pay the government every month for all the married men, women, and gers above a certain age.
The women and gers would eventually be matched by the government if it dragged on for too long, but the men would continue to pay the tax unless a woman or ger was assigned to them, or they found their own bride.
Rather than himself, Lee Hua felt that Brother Min’s happy event was something he should be worried about. More than Xiao An and Xiao Momo, Brother Min and his brothers were all old bachelors!
Old fierce bachelors that needed to settle down. Old fierce bachelors that were actually quite kind people when you got to know them.
Who would settle with such fierce looking men? Lee Hua didn’t know, but that wasn’t his concern.
...Even as the ger proclaimed the men as ’fierce’ men, he still stood close to Min, and shared his mind with him openly... what scary fierce man that he felt oh so comfortable around.
"I’m waiting for the right person—"
"The right person? What does that even mean?" Midwife Lee was truly confused at this point. His brows furrowed threatening to permanently alter his face.
He was finally caught up in their conversation, his previous worries flowing out of sight and out of mind like a free bird.
