Chapter 359: Bath Time 1

Chapter 359: Bath Time 1

As the weight of Xu Feng’s revelation settled in the room, Xiao Momo and Xiao An couldn’t hide their distress.

"Leave eggs?" Xiao Momo didn’t seem to be taking the news well, and neither was Xiao An.

Xiao Momo, unfamiliar with his father, seemed troubled by the potential absence of a dad, that was the only parent he really knew. And, it was actually a good thing.

While Xiao An, who had experienced life with a father, the idea of losing her dad was not one she wanted to consider. The specter of past hunger and abuse was chased away with their dad’s presence, and now the looming uncertainty brought unease.

Would these two eggs born in such a big house have to live without a dad?

Xiao An would rather live in their small village hut without this nice and comfortable table bed than live without her dad.

Their once vibrant demeanor had shifted, and the room felt heavier with the children’s contemplation.

Xu Feng sighed, reluctant to cast a cloud over the room, yet his knack for making things uncomfortable seemed to persist—after all, he was a strange ger, technically a retransplant from another world.

Breaking the serious silence, Xu Feng added with determination, "Yes. This one wants to stay with his eggs until they hatch and grow as big as Xiao Momo and as big as Xiao An." The familiar ’this one’ speech faltered as emotions surged, hitting him in the gut like a series of soccer punches.

While his emotions wrestled within him, the scent of incense enveloping the air, the little and big dragons in his belly seemed to stir, as if attempting to convey their understanding and assurance that they wouldn’t abandon their dad.

Unable to hold back the surge of emotions, Xu Feng wiped at his eyes, determined not to let his lovers see him break down, let alone two little children witness him unraveling.

"I want to stay with my children for as long as I can, but it’s very difficult when a ger has two eggs. I’m going to try my hardest, but if I’m gone for a while or even forever," the strain in Xuan Jian’s grip on Xu Feng’s lower back made him flinch slightly, and the hand (Xuan Yang) in his own slacked.

The weight of the unspoken emotions hung heavy in the air, intense even through the silence.

It was a reality both lovers had been trying to skirt around, a looming uncertainty that now demanded acknowledgment. Xu Feng felt the stiff atmosphere, realizing he didn’t want to put his lovers through this, yet they had been implicitly ignoring the possibility from the beginning.

Pregnancy with twins was often a dangerous and doomed journey for gers, fraught with risks to both the parent and the unborn children. Survival was rare, and the stakes were high.

Optimism permeated Xu Feng’s thoughts. His confidence as a transmigrator with a "gold finger" spurred him on, fueling the belief that he could navigate this death sentence even if it meant being sent to another world, and, eventually, find his way back to his family, including Xu Zeng.

If his expectations were off and the birthing process proved less daunting, then he’d embrace the challenge, popping out eggs like a golden egg laying bird. His resolve was unwavering, accompanied by a bright smile, dimples on display, and eyes reflecting his inner determination.

Xiao An peered into Xu Feng’s eyes, as if searching for something deep within his soul, while Xiao Momo, with youthful exuberance, nodded vigorously, almost risking whiplash.

Xiao An, glancing at the burning incense in the corner, seemed to grasp the gravity of the situation and nodded in understanding.

Xu Feng beamed, his smile radiating warmth.

Friends were crucial, sometimes surpassing the significance of family, especially when family wasn’t always kind or accepting. The unknown future of Xiao Momo and Xiao An didn’t deter him; he felt a sense of accomplishment in securing friends for his little and big dragons.

Xu Feng then whispered to the children—yeah, it wasn’t really whispering, the two men beside him had heightened hearing and could hear him even if he was able to bend fully and whisper in the two children’s ears directly.

Still, the stubborn silver haired ger was bent on "sharing" a little secret with his two new accomplices. The children moved closer to Xu Feng so they could hear, the secret.

Before Xu Feng could get the words out, his brows furrowed in disgust. No he wasn’t judging the children, but his poor sheets!!!

The two children, Xiao An and Xiao Momo, showcased clean and presentable faces, a commendable feat in an ancient society where cleanliness standards varied.

Coming from a poor family of three, with only one adult who bore the mark of an outcast, their level of tidiness exceeded Xu Feng’s expectations.

However, the remnants of dust on their legs, despite the absence of shoes in the inner room, seamlessly transferred onto Xu Feng’s bedding. As a self proclaimed clean freak, Xu Feng could feel a bout of faintness coming on just from this realization alone.

The alarm bells were ringing in his head. If not for the incense in the background, this was likely a strong enough catalyst to throw him into labor...okay, maybe not.

Yet, only slightly deterred, he continued with his conspiratorial whisper, weariness in his eyes "I have a special nickname for my eggs." His eyes darted side to side as if sharing an immense secret, instantly piquing the children’s curiosity.

Eager to uncover the mysterious names, their attention was firmly hooked by Xu Feng’s amusing tales.

Then, with mischievous flair, he added, "...I’ll only tell you after a bath." A short, amused chuckle escaped Xuan Yang, the resident snake young master, at the shamelessness of this ger, who spun tales of secrets and bath time extravagance.

This wasn’t shamelessness! It was a lesson in cleanliness.

Xu Feng did have a secret to share with the two children, it was just the state of his sheets was also important.
