Chapter 348: Several Doctors’ Visit

The room lay bathed in the tender glow of early morning, the soft light filtering through the cracks between the curtains that swayed gently with the breeze. Xu Feng lay still in bed, his silver hair fanned out on the pillow, gently contrasting to the muted colors of the room.

The dawn painted the sky in hues of pink and gold, casting a warm, ethereal glow on the world. It was a new day, and all the shame from the day before was now a day behind.

But somehow, a faint tinge of shame colored his thoughts as he lingered in the realm between sleep and wakefulness.

To his right, the space beside him was void of warmth, a telltale sign that Xuan Jian had risen ahead of him. However, the left side of the bed was not empty at all.

With a hesitant touch, Xu Feng’s hand unconsciously traced the curve of his full belly, which was evident even beneath the covers.

It was a gentle reminder of the life growing within him and of the dream from the night prior.

In the hazy scenes of his subconscious, his belly was flat, devoid of the roundness that now defined it. The dream had been a curious blend of satisfaction and unease, lacking the tender intimacy that characterized his real life interactions with his partners.

There just weren’t enough kisses or dialogue to really ring true.

Even as he judged the inadequacies of his own imagination, Xu Feng wanted to evade the probing gaze of Xuan Yang, who observed him with an unwavering calmness that only added to Xu Feng’s embarrassment.

The room itself held a quietness, disrupted only by the subtle rhythm of breathing and the rustling of sheets.

As Xu Feng shifted, another hint of shame washed over him, his hand instinctively stopped moving, finally resting on the roundness of his belly—frozen in time. His dream lingered in his thoughts and became more and more clear as time passed by.

The dream was a temporary escape, but reality pressed against it, demanding acknowledgment.

It was embarrassing. The dream was embarrassing. Xuan Yang’s gaze on him as he pretended to sleep was also embarrassing. The wet puddle between his legs was also embarrassing.

Had Xuan Jian noticed anything before he rose? Possibly. Also embarrassing.

It was best to play dead, and hope Xuan Yang would get out of bed soon. After several minutes of playing possum, Xuan Yang continued to stare at him, almost boring a hole in Xu Feng’s temple.

’Doesn’t he have things to do!’ Xu Feng complained internally.

Normally he would love to spend time with Xuan Yang without having to bully the scholar into putting away his books and scrolls, but now, he just wanted to scurry off into the bathroom, not for a fictional round two, but to clean himself up.

Xu Feng’s eyes remained tightly shut, a slight frown marring his otherwise calm face. The silver strands of his hair spilled across the pillow, a shimmering cascade against the backdrop of his dreamscape.

His face, adorned with a deep red mole at the center, displayed a mix of impatience and reluctance. The telltale sign of pregnancy poked up from beneath the blanket, a visual reminder of the life growing within him AND more proof of the unlikeliness of his wet dream.

Beside him, Xuan Yang, the scholarly beauty, lay in a relaxing pose. His tall figure exuded an air of refinement, even at rest. Black hair framed his face, and dark eyes, serene and observant, watched the cute ger beside him.

Xuan Yang’s features retained an effortless allure, his composure undisturbed by the clearly boiling emotions of his partner.

As the minutes ticked by, the weight of Xuan Yang’s silent scrutiny grew heavier, pressing against Xu Feng’s consciousness. Frustration simmered beneath the surface, mingling with the embarrassment of his own body’s betrayal.

He was dying to retreat, to escape into the sanctuary of the bathroom and erase any trace of his body’s reaction.

Xu Feng’s internal struggle reached a boiling point, and he finally snapped at his annoying husband. The sticky discomfort between his legs compelled him to abandon the pretense of sleep, demanding attention immediately.

"Don’t you have things to do!? Maybe a letter to write?" Xu Feng was done playing chicken with Xuan Yang.

An even more radiant smile graced Xuan Yang’s face as he stared Xu Feng directly in the eye. It was teasing, but loving all the same. Xu Feng’s face grew redder out of some emotion outside of shame.

Was it love? A love that seemed more like intoxication perhaps.

"I have much better aftercare services than your dream lover." A single sentence left Xuan Yang’s lips before he planted a kiss on Xu Feng’s face and then plunged into motion.

The pampered young master of the Xuan family didn’t exaggerate even as his words dawned on the very red Xia Feng (shrimp).

Xuan Yang clearly knew he was competing with a dream lover, and said dream lover was likely himself and, or Xuan Jian, still he did as he said. He moved deliberately with an attentiveness that Xu Feng couldn’t refuse.

Well, he didn’t want to refuse.

In a few minutes, his wet stain was removed and set aside, and he was in the bath being supported by Xuan Yang as he bathed in the bathing barrel. All the while his face stayed flushed a lovely red color.

He didn’t have much to say, but Xu Feng was thankful for the support from Xuan Yang AND the fact that the cunning snake dropped the topic with a single sentence and a lingering smirk.

Xu Feng stood before the bronze mirror, his reflection a surprising contrast to his usual appearance. The roundness of his face, accentuated by the impending fatherhood, seemed to carry an air of refinement and grace.

Si’s efforts in dressing him each morning were always praiseworthy, but today, the tidiness of his top knot and the straight, noble lines of his maternity robes were arranged to perfection.

Draped in one of the meticulously sewn maternity sets Si had made, the attire gave off a regal elegance it had never done before.

A sash of unknown origin, though not perfectly matching in color, complemented the ensemble seamlessly. Xu Feng couldn’t help but appreciate the touch of detail and finesse that turned a simple garment into a statement of elegance.

A few simple hair decorations, mirroring the hues of the sash, adorned his silver locks, completing the outfit with a subtle touch of sophistication.

As he examined himself in the mirror, a genuine smile curved his lips. The transformation was not only cosmetic; it seemed to reflect a certain nobility that resonated within. Behind him, Xuan Yang mirrored his delight, with a satisfied smile on his lips.

With a quick breakfast ahead, Xu Feng approached the table, his appetite lagging behind the expectations set by the morning spread. Despite the lack of desire for food, he picked at the dishes, pushing the limits of his palate.

Even the once appetizing buns from the previous day failed to entice him. The looming yet mysterious due date added a layer of urgency to his internal struggles. His genuine concern over potentially starving the unborn children lingered—even with his much rounder frame—his unfamiliarity with conventional maternity practices for demon beasts who also happened to be ger added to the confusion.

Luckily, before Xuan Yang could force him to nibble on any more vegetables, San came in to announce the final doctor’s arrival.

Yes, the final doctor.

Xuan Jian had adult knapped a few local doctors once again.

As they navigated the corridors of Blooming Courtyard, Xu Feng couldn’t help but feel the throbbing pulse in his temple, a residual effect of the ease with which Xuan Jian conducted his abductions.

The nonchalance displayed by his lover regarding such criminal activities was both fascinating and concerning to the max.

The realization that Xuan Jian was on their side, an ally rather than an adversary, provided some reassurance. However, it really didn’t seem to faze Xuan Jian in the least, or bother his conscious at all.

Beside him, Xuan Yang maintained a facade of calm, but a thin layer of sweat betrayed the tension beneath. It was a role reversal—Xu Feng now guided Xuan Yang with a firm grip on his hand, a reversal of the care Xuan Yang had once offered him during their first meeting with Lady Xuan and Old Lady Xuan as a wedded couple.

The children had been active recently, and responded to the extra energy they were sending, but Xu Feng knew he and his brother were different from Xuan Yang and those with ’immortal bloodline.’ It was uncertain just how much energy the children would need to be healthy.

To add to the confusion, Xuan Jian was still shrouded in mystery, it was clear he wasn’t on a hunt to eat Xu Feng, but he did know of himself and Xu Zeng.

Was Xuan Jian a demon beast from outside of the continent? It seemed likely, but the focus of their conversation the day before was on Xu Feng, Xu Zeng, and the children in his belly.

This was enough trouble for now. Xu Feng wouldn’t push Xuan Jian to share with the class, at least not yet.
