Standing atop the small hill-like peak in the Nanshan Mountains, directly behind the Nanshan Estate, Xuan Jian couldn’t help but feel a rush of excitement and contentment.

It should have been an easy climb. Normally the trek would take him a stick of incense or less (45 minutes). The climb had taken them much longer than usual, nearly three times as long, but he didn’t mind in the least.

He had his two treasured lovers with him, and this breathtaking view before them made every step worth it. This was, in his eyes, the most beautiful sight that Nanshan had to offer—his lovers.

Spring had arrived in Nanshan Estate, and Xu Feng was eager to spend it here. Well, deeper in the mountains, but still... Xuan Jian was happy he could spend this spring in Nanshan.

Previously, he had contemplated returning to the capital city, Jinghua, to continue his research and follow up on leads. However, the life he had now, with Xuan Yang and Xu Feng, had become more and more rewarding, and he couldn’t imagine being anywhere else.

The view here was truly something else:

Xuan Yang stood closer to the edge of the hill, his long, raven black hair styled in a simple updo, with the ends dancing with the wind. The slick style was fitting for a hunt or a mountain climb in Donghua.

His attire, while slightly less lavish than usual, still marked him as the young master of the well known Xuan family. His handsome stature, with his noble bearing and charismatic presence, was impossible to ignore.

Xuan Yang’s gaze was fixed on Xu Feng, who was closest to the hill’s edge. The ger was attempting to conceal the fact that he was panting desperately even though he was the only one in their group seated on a large rock.

There was something different—but it was becoming more common—in Xuan Yang’s expression today. While his usual demeanor remained cold and detached, there was a glint of affection and teasing in his eyes as he observed the winded ger. It was a subtle change, but it warmed Xuan Jian’s heart to witness it.

Xuan Jian, positioned a little farther away, watched his two lovers with a mix of joy and concern. His love for Xuan Yang and Xu Feng was immeasurable, but there was also a layer of worry.

He couldn’t help but be concerned about Xuan Yang after their first night...He intended to be more restrained, but Yang had ignited something in him. The passion between him and Xuan Yang had always been strong. The fire burned for most of the night.

As for Xu Feng, he was still cautious. He had shed so many tears, vomited, and become distant in one day, then last night, he couldn’t bear to sleep alone. The clinginess was new, and adorable in Xuan Jian’s opinion, but it wasn’t natural. It made him and Xuan Yang worry.

For now, they would need to watch Xu Feng closely, and make sure he was really alright.

Yet, despite his worries, being here with both his lovers felt like a precious retreat from the outside world. The scenery around them was awe inspiring. The mountain range stretched as far as the eye could see, with ancient trees adorning even the small hill they occupied.

The surrounding forest was a witness to nature’s timelessness, and even with the animals keeping their distance, their group continued to savor the relaxing moment and the beauty of the scenery.

In the background, the rest of their party blended into the landscape, but in this serene setting, for Xuan Jian, the center stage was undoubtedly reserved for Xuan Yang and Xu Feng.

Xuan Yang:

As Xuan Yang gazed out at the picturesque scenery spread before him, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of familiarity with this serene landscape. It was true that he had been to higher peaks and gone on more rewarding adventures, often accompanied by his ever loyal partner, Xuan Jian.

In addition, he had ventured to other cities and prefectures, often against Lady Xuan’s wishes. The thought of her, and the matter of the Xuan family’s letter inquiring about a child and his return, lingered in his mind, casting a shadow over the otherwise peaceful moment.

Being the young master of the Xuan family was a responsibility he had mixed feelings about. While he wasn’t entirely ungrateful for the privileges and prestige it brought, there were undeniable downsides to the role.

Xuan Yang tried to push these thoughts aside and focus on the present.

His gaze shifted to Xu Feng, who was wheezing slightly on a rock just a few steps ahead. The tall ger was attempting to regulate his breathing and subtly angling his body away from the rest of the group.

Xuan Yang couldn’t help but smile, finding Xu Feng’s entire situation rather endearing.

Xu Feng’s hair was neatly styled in a manner suitable for the adventure, a departure from his usual carefree look. Yet, even in this more restrained yet casual attire, his striking silver hair remained as eye catching as ever.

There was a delicate quality to him that seemed out of place in nature’s rugged embrace, but at the same time, it was apparent that this was Xu Feng’s domain. Nature was his territory, and while his physique may not be at its peak, it was understandable.

Climbing mountains was not something a village ger like Xu Feng (Xu Zeng) was accustomed to. While he had always been physically active for a ger (growing up farming and raising the siblings from his "father" and "stepmother") and had found harmony in their greenhouse, this was a new experience.

There was nothing to be ashamed of in his efforts. But there he was, hiding in the corner, a flush of exertion and embarrassment on his face.

Xuan Yang couldn’t help but find Xu Feng’s struggle adorable. He was glad he had sent that letter back to the Xuan family, whatever their next steps might be.

Together with both of his partners, he would face any challenges that lay ahead. As the Xuan family’s young master, he was determined to protect the two individuals who had become the most important people in his life.
