Chapter 209: Momo is Fearless
Chapter 209: Momo is Fearless
Breaking the cover of the forest, Xu Feng finally felt free of the ghostly gaze. He should have been relieved, but somehow, Xu Feng felt a little lost, like he’d lost something important to him.
Without thinking much, he stroked the silver ring on his finger while turning back around and said, "You promised to teach me when I come back, and you have to remember to open the door for me."
He was like a petulant child making sure the neighborhood big brother would continue to entertain him when he came to harass him the next time. No shame. None at all.
Again, not expecting a reply, Xu Feng felt a bit forlorn as he stared into the dark forest, unsure if the ancestor had heard him or not.
"Mmmmmm," the low vibration moved within Xu Feng. The sensation was overwhelming and oddly reminiscent of Xuan Yang. Images of his husband laying on his body after climax as he made this exact purr, had Xu Feng’s face flushing bright in shame.
It was broad daylight. And he was getting a reaction from his husband’s grandfather how many times back, he didn’t know. The number of greats before the grandfather should be many.
But he was envisioning his husband, his legal nominal husband. That was okay, right? Well, it wasn’t all his husband, there were some images he couldn’t quite place as they flashed by in his mind’s eye.
It was the follow up chuckle, "heh heh," that really propelled the red faced Xu Feng further from the depths of the forest. He could maintain the act of the young mistress in front of most, but this cultivator was talented at catching him unawares.
The feeling of someone else’s laughter reverberating from within was too unnerving for Xu Feng. And the sadistic tendencies he felt from the ancient pushed his feet forward.
The husband was a pervert, of course, the ancestor he resembled would be one too. They both enjoy teasing—it was a good thing Xuan Yang had been too focused on his studies to dabble in things like BDSM. He clearly would be talented in this field.
He was already a menace with his unruly pepper.
Xu Feng hurried out of the forest cover into the opening beyond, his cheeks flushed, and his heart still racing from the strange encounter. His pace was brisk, almost reckless, his steps a tad unsteady as he navigated the transition from the dense woodland to the clearing.
As he emerged into the open space, his eyes widened at the sight of Bai Mo. If this continued his eyes were going to get stuck as wide as saucers.
In the distance, Bai Mo crouched, securing two skittish horses beside a back basket he had managed to haul to the clearing’s edge before the forest’s entrance. Bai Mo was focused, and determined, preparing a long stick with a resolute determination etched on his face.
It was almost comical—the fearless stance, the chosen stick—as if Bai Mo were ready to charge headfirst into the wild boars’ lair...with a stick! Not a metal stick, it was a flimsy wooden stick against those giant boars!
The two gers locked eyes, and laughter bubbled up within Xu Feng, spilling out in unrestrained bursts. This was the same friend who was ready to charge into the forest to save him, fox ears perked up, and now, equipped with a stick, looking like a cute little pet with a heroic streak.
The only remnants of their previous struggle were Bai Mo’s slightly disheveled clothes and a few patches of raw skin. Altogether, he still looked like a young pampered young master who would barely be able to chase of a squirrel, not to mention a demon looking boar.
In the middle of his hearty laughter, Xu Feng realized he was witnessing his best friend’s unflinching loyalty and determination, despite the rather humorous appearance.
There, stood Bai Mo, the pampered master, ready to confront the boars with a stick. No fear in his eyes, only resolve. Foolish but sweet.
"Let’s go back," Xu Feng called out, unable to contain his laughter, his words a cryptic invitation as he walked toward Bai Mo and the horses, leaving the forest and its mysteries behind without explanation. There was a sense of companionship and understanding between them that didn’t require words to convey.
Still, Bai Mo was curious, but more than that, he was just glad Xu Feng had somehow made it out unharmed.
As they rode back toward Nanshan estate, Bai Mo couldn’t seem to tear his gaze away from Xu Feng. He was just so relieved that his friend was safe and unharmed. Yet, the longer he stared, the more evident his fixation became. After a few minutes of this silent observation, Xu Feng couldn’t resist teasing him.
"If you don’t stop staring, Master Bai, I might start to think you’re interested in me," Xu Feng playfully quipped, a playful glint in his eye. Bai Mo’s face flushed crimson, his blush as vibrant as it had been the first time they met.
Instead of retorting, he simply sighed, content that his friend was safe. He had been genuinely worried that the boars might have injured Xu Feng.
"I’m just glad you still have enough energy to toss," Bai Mo replied with a smile, the ancient slipping out slang effortlessly. Xu Feng chuckled, amused by Bai Mo’s casual use of the modern language. It was almost endearing how Bai Mo effortlessly brought slang into their conversations. He was a quick learner.
As they neared Nanshan estate, Xu Feng reminded Bai Mo to hide his fox ears. The Nanshan mountains technically belonged to Xu Feng, but the smaller forests between the mountain’s base and the estate were frequented by the villagers from Nanshan village.
The larger, wilder forests like the one they had just crossed were usually left to the few hunters in Nanshan villager who still ventured into the woods for their livelihood, as they were known to house larger, more dangerous animals.
Bai Mo quickly adjusted himself to conceal his fox ears, ensuring they wouldn’t attract any unnecessary attention. Even though Xu Feng owned the land, it was better to err on the side of caution around the villagers and any other strangers. He needed to get to Jinghua, so he could stop hiding.
