The Ger's Contract Marriage [BL]
Chapter 158: A Small Feast

Chapter 158: A Small Feast

The kitchen, once an orderly paradise, now looked like a battlefield strewn with the aftermath of a food fight gone terribly, terribly wrong. Not one, but two ’terrible(s)’ were needed.

Utensils lay scattered like fallen soldiers, pans abandoned mid task, and countertops appeared to have hosted an unplanned seasoning contest with spices marking their territory in dusty chaos.

The usually perfect arrangement of jars and containers was now a jumbled collection, their contents having spilled in a whirlwind of culinary chaos. Cumin mixed with coriander, soy sauce leaked near the sugar jar, and flour created a powdery snowscape on the countertops.

In the middle of this organized mayhem were stacks of used dishes attempting to resist gravity in their risky piles, flirting with the floor.

The kitchen. His kitchen was a mess.

Xu Feng, frozen in the doorway, stared wide eyed at the mess, his brain struggling to process the transformation of his once spotless kitchen. The absurdity of the chaos left him momentarily stunned.

How much mess could two men make in one afternoon?

He stood there, mouth slightly open as his brain circuit malfunctioned. He had just gone through two days of overuse of said brain, and it didn’t want to work anymore. His brain was going on strike!

He would too...

Neither Xuan Jian or Xuan Yang seemed to notice the tall glitchy ger frozen in the doorway with twitching brows.

His kitchen...

He was occupied for only two days, and this was what his beloved kitchen had become. What if they did the same thing to his greenhouse?

At that thought, Xu Feng had the urge to run toward his greenhouse and the space in the guest bedroom (the former bridal chamber) he used as a nursery.

"Sigh," Instead, he took a deep breath before releasing it. This was a nice little party they had prepared for him...in the kitchen...a mess party.

Just as Xu Feng tried to convince himself that a little mess wasn’t something to worry about, the master of the Nanshan estate realized an important piece of everything.

He was the master of the house, and he didn’t need to clean up the mess. At most, he could make the two troublemakers clean up after themselves.

Xu Feng moved around the kitchen ignoring the corner where the two men congregated, taking in the destruction in his kitchen as he clutched his heart dramatically.

He was in a play of his own as the two men ignored him.

If Xu Feng did request the pampered Xuan young master, and the slightly less pampered Xuan Jian clean up the mess, he would probably end up with a bigger mess.

"Ready!" Xuan Jian called out in satisfaction accompanied by Xuan Yang’s laughter nearby.

Curious about the two men’s progress, Xu Feng turned over to the source of the commotion and caught sight of a thick brown sauce, and a few side dishes purposefully covered from his view.

The smells coming from the kitchen were actually surprisingly good. From the moment he entered the kitchen till now, there were no foul odors to make Xu Feng run for the hills. The meal should at least be edible.

"You woke up early, but its still a surprise." Xuan Yang said calmly with a smirk on his face.

Looking at the clearly excited ’men children’ in front of him, Xu Feng couldn’t help but grin in return. A big bright smile dawned on his face. He could probably forgive anything when he saw them like this.

The disarray of the kitchen, and the numbness in his legs (the one he had been purposefully ignoring since he got out of bed!) completely faded into the background.

Following the two men out of the kitchen, Xu Feng wasn’t allowed to help with the still hidden side dishes and the sweet smelling brown sauce. So, he just followed along behind the two men who were on a mission.

The journey to the dining room wasn’t a journey to the dining room at all.

They went back to the main house, but instead of stopping, they continued forward, causing Xu Feng to raise a brow in the silence. He was silent, but his face was telling a long, long tale.

’This really is a surprise celebration.’

Before they even reached the location of the surprise, Xu Feng’s eyes lit up. Xuan Jian kept secretly glancing back to take in his reaction. He had even caught Xuan Yang trying to steal a glance at his face, but Xu Feng was too stunned to tease the two men.

In the distance, before the rear wall of the Blooming Courtyard, the solitary pavilion overlooking the mountains was decorated with paper decorations and lanterns that Xu Feng could barely make out.

Even if he couldn’t see them, it was obvious how much care was put into the design.

Directly outside the pavilion was a small fire that was already blazing in the twilight. Jie and Bo were skillfully roasting some kind of colossal animal on the pit above the flames, the fire’s warmth casting a mesmerizing glow on the scene.

Not only was the scene enchanting, even his stomach protested from the smells coming from the animal. "Gurgle, guh, guh."

Normally, Xu Feng might blush or blame someone else for the sounds coming from his stomach, but today none of that even crossed his mind.

Instead, Xu Feng paused a few feet away from the beautiful setup as he took in the stunning paper lanterns and origami looking animals. There were cushions set up in the pavilion and flowers arranged as well.

Xu Feng was so occupied he didn’t even notice the big men, Jie and Bo, come up to him, pay their respects and take their leave.

All Xu Feng could see was his small feast.

It was unknown how long he stood there; it was only after he heard a question that he came back to himself "Do you like it?" Xuan Jian asked with smile on his face.

Xu Feng glanced at the grey eyed iceberg, then at the nearby grinning young master, and simply nodded.

Yet, with that simple gesture, tears began streaming down his cheeks.
