The Ger's Contract Marriage [BL]
Chapter 134: The Flow of Time

Chapter 134: The Flow of Time

Xu Feng felt the weight of the past moments pressing on his chest, like the dreams and aspirations of a boy named Xu Zeng were seeking refuge within him. The stories of Dragons and Phoenixes danced in his mind, their majestic figures rising from the din of chaos and rebirthing from the ashes of destiny.

These tales were more than mere folklore; they were a lifeline for Xu Zeng, a beacon illuminating the path beyond the confines of Sun Village.

In the silence of those stories, Xu Zeng found a connection to a world beyond his own struggles. His dad’s words became a sanctuary in the harsh reality of rejection and exploitation.

But dreams, like fragile glass sculptures, could shatter with a single misstep. The memory of Xu Zeng’s premature death tugged at Xu Feng’s heart, a potential unfulfilled.

"Sigh..."

The weight of a weird nostalgia settled on Xu Feng as he exhaled, a heavy breath carrying the burden of memories that weren’t his own. The details of dragons and phoenixes lingered in his mind, the mythical creatures now intertwined with the tale of a boy who dared to dream.

Xuan Yang’s gaze, sharp and perceptive, caught the flicker of emotions on Xu Feng’s face. Concern lines blooming on the young master’s forehead as he observed the ger. "Tired?" he asked, the melody of his voice soothing yet probing.

Shaking himself from the grip of a past that wasn’t quite his, Xu Feng managed a weak smile. "No," he replied, an echo of unspoken thoughts. "I’ll take a break."

As he prepared to set aside the brush and paper, Xu Feng’s eyes sought refuge in the room’s simplicity, its walls and furnishings offering a respite from the flood of memories.

The break was not just from the physical act of writing; it was a retreat into the recesses of his mind, a moment to grapple with the emotions that writing had stirred.

Xuan Yang’s scholarly facade cracked, revealing a more relaxed side. "Okay, too much study isn’t beneficial," he admitted, his gaze softening. The scholarly aura surrounding him momentarily dissipated, allowing a glimpse of the person beneath the serious exterior.

Xu Feng, however, couldn’t suppress his amusement at the irony.

The man who exuded an air of scholarly enlightenment, the one who seemed like his entire existence revolved around books and knowledge, was advising moderation in studying.

The mental image of Xuan Yang’s hypothetical library scented farts brought an involuntary snort from Xu Feng.

"Pfffft," Xuan Jian’s laughter erupted, breaking the tension in the room. Xuan Yang quickly shot Xuan Jian a glare, but the amusement in his eyes betrayed his irritation.

The situation was too much. The one who seemed to only think about perverted things and food, was judging the great young master of the Xuan family. The funniest part was that he was right, Xuan Yang cared about very little outside of the subjects he enjoyed.

"Hahahah," Xu Feng watched the two men as Xuan Jian’s laughter grew louder, his eyes twinkling with laughter as he observed the unexpected skin ship between Xuan Yang and Xuan Jian.

The scholarly facade had given way to a wicked grin on Xuan Yang’s face as he engaged in a playful tussle with the more athletically built Xuan Jian.

It was a scene that defied expectations, showcasing their true personalities hidden behind public masks. The frail looking scholar pinning down the lively man beneath him created a strangely harmonious picture.

Xu Feng meticulously placed his brush in its designated spot, ensuring it would dry properly to maintain its integrity.

The quill, made with exquisite craftsmanship, was a delicate instrument that required careful handling. He dipped it into a bowl of pre prepared water, a small ritual that contributed to the longevity of such a fine tool.

The act was not merely a functional task; it carried a sense of etiquette and respect for the art of calligraphy. How he knew what to do and how to do it seemed to be another blessing from Xu Zeng.

The brush itself was a work of art, its beauty and intricacy surpassing any he had encountered in Central bookstore. If such a brush were available in the bookstore, it had likely never been presented to someone of Xu Feng’s caliber.

It must have been an item they only presented to young masters who looked like they had enough silver to burn. While Xu Feng had a young mistress look, he did tend to dress more comely than the average young mistress.

After breakfast, Xuan Yang had surprised him with this expensive set of enlightenment materials. The thoughtful gesture was heartwarming.

As he observed the two "overgrown children" rolling around playfully in his study, a small smile played on his lips. Leaving them to their "lovey dovey" time, Xu Feng exited the room, looking forward to a more serene and solitary activity.

He would have an even love-ier and dove-ier time with his precious seeds.

Xu Feng left the two men in his study and headed to the greenhouse, his thoughts drifting languidly. He couldn’t shake the concern for Xu Zeng from his mind. As he approached the greenhouse, he rubbed the ring on his finger and then placed the hand over his heart.

Tending to his seeds and making arrangements with Erlang for the garden brought a sense of confidence about the growth of his plants.

Si and San, occupied in the craft room, were diligently working on making clothing for the new servants. With no sizes to go off, they decided on one-size-fits-all puffer jackets and socks—items the new servants would need most during the cold winter.

Despite the girls having already cooked in the morning and prepared lunch independently, they insisted on "helping" their master.

Leaving Erlang to manage the garden, Xu Feng found himself looking back at the main house where Si, San, Jian, and Yang were engaged in different activities. Two groups, each occupied with their own tasks.

Xu Feng left the courtyard with steady steps and no particular destination in mind. He took in the beauty of the estate, now his own, yet the thought lingered that it should have belonged to Xu Zeng...

However, there was no resentment felt from the other boy, at least none that Xu Feng could feel. If Xu Zeng was truly a ghost, he seemed genuinely happy to see Xu Feng, without any ulterior motives.

Without knowing, Xu Feng found himself at the back of the estate, beyond all three courtyards and the small pond, standing a few feet away from the high wall.

He took in the breathtaking views of the mountains on three sides.
