In this new world, Xu Feng found himself with countless options for tasks to occupy his time. While winter would keep him mostly housebound, he had already packed his schedule to the brim with various necessary and unnecessary activities.

The transition from being a young mistress to the master of the house was proving to be to his liking, it did come with numerous responsibilities but also a newfound sense of freedom.

He could now chart his course and make decisions about his daily life. Becoming a bona fide couch potato was a reality he relished. And today, he had a day filled with activities to divert his mind from the thoughts of two annoying snakes.

He had more important things to think about than two horrible, mean, sexy snakes.

"Sigh..."

With a wistful sigh, Xu Feng gathered his underclothing and made his way to the special bathhouse, which also doubled as a bathroom.

However, he soon remembered that there was no running water available...

While his bathroom was larger and slightly resembled a modern bathroom, it was still far from being entirely up to date by Dongmen standards. Okay, it was only slightly similar to modern bathrooms.

Xu Feng had personally overseen the design of this unique bathroom, combining modern practicality with ancient aesthetics. The centerpiece of the room was the grand bathing barrel, a masterful creation made from timber.

Its sides were impeccably smooth, and the interior was lined with a water-resistant coating to ensure longevity. It was large enough for him to comfortably soak, providing an experience that was both useful and luxurious. Next to the barrel, the raised basin mimicked a normal sink, offering a convenient place to freshen up.

A blend of old and new.

Given the time constraints and his limited artistic ability, it was as close as he could come to modern amenities.

Nonetheless, it shared some similarities with the two smaller bathhouses in the Blooming courtyard.

There were two smaller bathhouses within the Blooming courtyard, each located strategically near bedrooms.

One was located near Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang’s new bedrooms and the other one was located near the girls’ room in the courtyard.

Lined with clay tiles, these bathhouses were designed with a sinkhole for efficient drainage, ensuring the residents maintained their hygiene. Xu Feng, being a hygiene conscious modern man, had emphasized the importance of regular bathing and using chewing sticks for oral care to everyone in the household.

He would prefer a toothbrush, but for now, that would need to wait.

In addition to the Blooming courtyard’s bathhouses, there were two more located in the larger main servants’ quarter, located closer to the front gate of the estate. Xu Feng hadn’t added any bathhouses in Budding Courtyard, which previously belonged to Xuan Yang, or in Flowering Courtyard, the Xuan family’s temporary residence.

Those would be modifications he’d consider at a later time.

For now, Xu Feng’s personal bathroom was his other sanctuary. It was the place where he could indulge in long, relaxing baths and wash away the stress of the day, it was a space he genuinely adored.

Other than the greenhouse, this was probably his favorite spot...he liked a lot of places in the Nanshan estate with the Xuans gone.

Despite his fondness for the bathroom, he couldn’t help but groan in disappointment when he realized that a bath wasn’t immediately possible.

Xu Feng contemplated his options for bathing. He could either have Erlang fill the water tub for a proper bath or simply make do with a quick "hoe" bath by washing the essential parts in the sink.

The latter option seemed less appealing, especially considering the cold water that would be involved.

As he stood at the bathroom doorway, a sudden realization hit him. He glanced at his clothing and sniffed it. He should have taken a hot bath immediately after returning from the clinics.

After all, he had visited two different doctors while he was unconscious, and who knew what he had come into contact with during that time?

Though he had changed clothes, the need for a thorough bath remained. Xu Feng didn’t want to risk catching the bubonic plague or any illnesses, considering his potentially compromised immune system.

"Ah!" Xu Feng screamed in delight when he peeked into the bathroom, "That sneaky little man!"

His delight quickly replaced his initial concerns when he saw the bathing barrel in the bathroom. It was filled with warm water, at just the right temperature. Erlang must have attended to it not too long ago.

Xu Feng was puzzled, wondering if Erlang had used the main kitchen. Si and San, the household’s chatterbox and little adult, were still working in the Blooming courtyard’s kitchen and hadn’t mentioned seeing Erlang. It was unlikely that Si, with her attraction for gossip, would have kept quiet about it.

Overwhelmed with excitement, Xu Feng couldn’t resist the temptation to dip his fingers into the warm water. Despite the building’s heating, he still felt cold from the damp clothing, and the steaming water in the bathing barrel was a welcome sight.

He was clearly made of glass. His immune system must be really compromised for him to feel so cold after just sharing a simple hug with Xuan Jian. He needed to focus on nursing himself back to health as well.

With excited strides, Xu Feng moved closer to the bathing barrel. His delight was evident as he couldn’t help but exclaim, "You sneaky, sneaky man!" The laughter that followed bubbled out of him, echoing in the room.

Near the tub, he spotted a small basket with a familiar large blue sachet resting on top. It was the very same sachet in which he had hidden the ice seed and other seeds he had purchased the night before. Erlang’s resourcefulness and attention to detail impressed him.

Xu Feng mused that teaching Erlang to read would not only benefit the young boy but also be an advantage for himself. Having such a meticulous and resourceful person on his side was a valuable asset.

The sound of Xu Feng’s laughter and the excitement in the room reached outside, into the hallway. Two inquisitive men who had been lingering in the living room exchanged a glance.

The taller one with a slightly softer appearance, appeared as though he couldn’t comprehend what was going on with Xu Feng, but the smirk playing on his lips betrayed his true feelings.

The man with the captivating grey eyes had a wide smile on his face, thoroughly enjoying the enchanting sound of Xu Feng’s laughter echoing throughout the house.
