The Gentleman at the End -
Chapter 538 - 536: Negotiating Terms
Chapter 538: Chapter 536: Negotiating Terms
The alarm at the Plague Bed had already ceased,
not because the danger had been averted, but because the alarm room had been wiped out,
This grating alarm sound annoyed William quite a bit, even reminding him of triggering alarms back at the Orphanage, so he went directly to its source,
Lifting his arm and spreading his back, he delivered a slap,
Smack! The powerful gust of wind instantly destroyed all the equipment in the room.
The rat swarms that should have been pouring in continuously were now only arriving occasionally, one or two at a time, and even then trembling uncontrollably.
In the eyes of the rat-people, this well-dressed, smiling young man was an absolute demon, an ultimate evil that they could never defeat, one that would cause their bodies to explode instantaneously if they dared to come too close.
Yet, William smiled and beckoned to the rat-people at the door, "Hey~ if you’re really scared, then don’t force it. How about you lead me to Dugall’s office instead?"
However,
As soon as the name Dugall was mentioned, the group reacted like a startled herd, charging over to meet their deaths until no more rat-people remained in the Plague Bed.
"Whew, warm-up complete! These guys seem really afraid of Dugall, the manager here; it seems he brings them something even more frightening than death.
But it’s also strange~ I’ve cleared all the rat-people from the Plague Bed, yet the Green Prime Minister still refuses to show himself. Little Grape, can you sense his presence and exact location?"
Following William’s call, a black sphere poked its head out from his shoulder.
"During the time you were warming up, we’ve been observed three times from different directions.
Every time there’s a spy, there’s a feeling of a green light flickering, and the surrounding plague would temporarily condense, seemingly helping to relay the visual signal.
We can almost certainly say it’s the same person spying from the shadows,
Slurp (swallows saliva)~ and that person’s grape must be really special, I guess it might have a sour-sweet taste.
But what’s strange is, every time I try to track the location in reverse, I can’t pinpoint it, and the corresponding locations are scattered throughout different areas of the Plague Bed.
That fellow is very cautious, apparently... stalling for time."
William tapped his chin lightly, "Stalling for time, huh? Could this guy be calling for reinforcements from the Cancer Palace?
After all, Rat City is also under the jurisdiction of the Cancer Palace. That would be a bit troublesome. If a Honored Tumor Knight who doesn’t play by the rules actually came, they might well attack me directly.
Little Grape, is there a way to flush him out?"
"Yes~ but, we’ll need him to spy on you one more time!"
"That’s easy enough... Thirteen, come with me."
William whistled cheerfully, taking light steps and treading over the rat carcasses strewn across the corridors, quickly arriving at the central laboratory of the Plague Bed.
William, with his memory from before death, knew the lab equipment before him was well-made and valuable.
To design and establish such an advanced lab in a place like Rat City must have required a lot of effort and experienced more than one failure, with at least five or more upgrades to the equipment in the process.
Compared with the hopeless, indoctrinated rat swarms, William found it a bit hard to bring himself to destroy the lab in front of him.
Sigh~ Taking a deep breath.
He swung a punch.
The punch thrown from a leather glove collectively formed a visually perceptible fist, of a slightly black color... The reason it was visible was due to the Dead Plague Fog State Bacteria contained within it, along with vaporized black water.
The fist smashed down... Clang!
It directly shattered the central reaction vessel, where the death-causing effect resulted in extensive damage to it.
The loud impact echoed throughout the Plague Bed building, causing Dugall, who was hiding in the shadows and maintaining a plague form, to grind his teeth in anger, and at the same time curse the Cancer Palace for not sending support after such a long time.
Hearing each piece of his painstakingly built lab equipment destroyed, Dugall’s mindset began to shift.
Although he kept reminding himself that the instruments would serve little purpose once he had completely moved on, recalling the days of building the Plague Bed and the nights of designing and manufacturing the equipment, his heart still bled.
Finally, he could hardly bear it any longer.
The ’Plague Three-Eyed’ at his forehead shimmered as he once again used the plague as a medium to spy on the intruder who was destroying equipment, hoping to discern his weakness in advance.
However,
Just as the Plague Eye captured sight of the young man, he noticed something on the young man’s shoulder that hadn’t been there before— a black sphere.
"What is that thing?"
Just as Dugall enlarged his field of Vision, attempting to make out the small black sphere that instinctively made him uneasy.
Whir~ The black sphere suddenly turned its head.
There was actually a mouth on the surface of the sphere, and within it held an eyeball scarred with embers, staring back at Dugall in reverse! An irresistible burning sensation transmitted over.
It was as if the fallen Evil Sun had risen again, hanging high in the sky of the Old World.
Dugall’s true form was directly burned out, his entire rat head still in an ignited state, and the pain that could sear the soul directly made him scream in agony.
He rushed back to the hot spring room like a madman, plunging his entire head into the Plague Original Liquid.
Sizzling! Green smoke rose... It took a massive amount of the original liquid to finally extinguish the flames, fortunately, the "Plague Eye" closed in time and was not too badly damaged.
When Dugall lifted his head from the spring room, boom! The door to the secret chamber behind him was destroyed by a tremendous force,
William with his hands in his pockets, withdrew his right leg which had been kicking in midair, and stepped into the pitch-dark Plague Bed chamber unhesitantly and even elegantly.
"Mr. Dugall, so you were taking a bath here~ I was wondering why I couldn’t find you anywhere."
Sensing the threat.
Dugall immediately disintegrated his body into a Plague gas state, regathering at the other end of the spring, staring at the youngster before him with a bewildered and puzzled look.
The scorched rat’s head emitted waves of sinister voices:
"Why can you, a dead man, wield the power of the Evil Sun?"
"Who told you that I am dead?
By the way, this place really stinks! The whole laboratory above is like a digestive system, and all the final waste seems to have accumulated here.
You even take baths in it, how disgusting."
As he spoke, William deliberately put on his Thorny mask, showing another Plague Attribute.
When the Thorny Iron Chain was revealed, Dugall truly panicked, even using honorifics:
"Are you from the Monastery to capture me... I am just conducting disease research in the city under my jurisdiction, there might be some excessive methods, but it hasn’t affected the Order of the Old World, has it?"
William quickly waved his hand, "Don’t be afraid~ I am not from the Monastery, I am just proving that I’m not dead."
Listening to the youth deny his Monk identity, Dugall also exhaled a sigh of relief, and his emotions slowly became angry, "Then why are you exterminating us?"
William’s Eyes widened, appearing very confused, "Me exterminating? Weren’t you the ones who struck first?
Just staying in a Hotel and you wanted to devour me, then the hotel was destroyed and you brought me here for interrogation, constantly infusing bacteria and Parasites into my body throughout the whole process.
In the end, didn’t you want to use me as research material?
I was merely acting in pure self-defense,
And I never thought about taking the initiative to kill rats, I didn’t even take direct action, it was all them forcing me to strike back as they pounced on me.
Moreover, I don’t intend to kill you. As long as Mr. Dugall is willing to cooperate, I am even willing to help repair the Plague Bed."
"How do you need me to cooperate?"
"Well..." William tapped his lower lip gently with his finger, pretending to think, "I’ll list them one by one.
1. I need you to act as a Guide, personally taking me for a tour around the so-called ’Dark Nest Mine’, showing me the Abyss hidden within.
2. I need your help in getting an introduction, letting me meet with the real City Lord, the old rat inside the Dark Moon Tower.
3. After everything is done, give me the three eyes on your forehead."
As William made such demands, the atmosphere around Dugall standing across the spring suddenly changed,
His Plague Robe fully expanded, revealing the unspeakable structure of his lower body, and an enraged voice at its peak emerged simultaneously from his mouth and lower body:
"I don’t know who you are, and I also don’t know why your body carries various Source Plague symptoms... But it’s not just you who can express multiple illnesses at the same time.
I just didn’t want to be disturbed during the final stages of my Path,
Since you are pressuring me at every step, then come at me directly~ Even if I have to pay a price, I will completely kill off this arrogant fool.
No, I won’t kill you! I will use you as research material and study you continuously, until all the illnesses on your body are extracted."
