Chapter 86: Darkness

’It seems like he took the hint, not bad.’ Yun Shu thought as she smirked.

"At least one student recognized me. Though I don’t know who it was that spread such baseless rumors about me, if I find them out somehow, I won’t let them go unpunished."

"Now, shall we take a look at today’s lesson? How was it going without me? Surely, you guys didn’t just flunk the subject, did you?"

Though the students were confused, Yun Shu’s smile was scarier than they imagined. So they didn’t dare to ask anymore as the entire class atmosphere turned into a pin dropping silence, only the murmuring sound of dry pages turning and Yun Shu’s voice could be heard from time to time.

After the class was over, Shen Xia was still glancing at Yun Shu by giving her side eyes, to which she didn’t pay any attention. Instead, she smiled brightly at them once again as she announced, "There is still one thing I think you guys need to know before today’s lesson ends. I heard that there was a little commotion in this class, and two of the students requested for a battle in the death arena. As you guys know the rules of the arena, I’ll still remind you once again. Once the fight starts in the arena, there is no turning back. Until one of the opponent dies or admit defeat, you can’t withdraw from the fight. So think for yourself once again before you get on the stage. As for the match, since it was requested after my class, I’ll be the one to host this entire process."

"Though you guys dared to stir up trouble and disturb my leisure, I’ll be the one to decide the penalty for the person who will lose. So please, work hard as not to die."

Yun Shu’s grinning face sent cold shivers on the students back as they sweated profusely, the ending would never go well! This demon!

With that, Yun Shu left the class, and right after three days, the match was held.

Since Jiao Zhan was the one to request the match, he had to prepare harder than anyone, even so, just by getting a gist of the red robe that swayed with the breeze gently, his heart beat faster with anxiety.

Many students weren’t able to get Yun Shu’s image off of their heads since that day. How could they do this when he looked so strong, yet charming and dignified at the same time?

Even Shen Xia began to daydream about Yun Shu, which made Bai Yunxian feel annoyed as hell.

’Why would he get interested in Lord Yun? This has never happened before.’

To Bai Yunxian, Yun Shu was like an otherworldly deity, someone who was beyond his reach, but he dared to covet his presence; to have the only sit next to him. Bai Yunxian didn’t know if he was being too greedy to want this, but his heart felt empty every time he thought this. The only thing he could do was to watch him from afar and wish him the best when he ascended.

Bai Yunxian never got to know what Yun Shu felt about him, because they never really had any direct contact. Yun Shu’s cold and emotionless presence, which was his only hope, his salvation, never felt real.

During his lowest point of life, Bai Yunxian always found this ice-cold man by his side, the silence lingered between them was what gave him comfort in the pain he had been, courage and power to face them one by one.

Bai Yunxian became too attached to his past and the countless regressions he had, the memories of Yun Shu dying when trying to save him has been haunting him down ever since then. When he saw Yun Shu getting close to some other man than himself, or some others showing interest in him, he had this paranoid feeling of getting his things snatched away; which wasn’t normal.

Sometimes, he would even question his sanity, but he just couldn’t help it when he saw Yun Shu, it was a feeling out of control.

’What should I do, Lord Yun? How should I explain those dirty feelings in my heart that I have for you?’

’How should I say that I don’t want you to look at anyone but me?’

’How should I tell you that I want you, I want to hide you away in a deep, dark corner of my heart, in a beautiful cage made of gold, a bed of jade, everything just for you so that only I could see you?’

Bai Yunxian thought as he stood in front of the only mirror in the room, clasped his hands together and covered his face, which was washed with tears of pain and suffering, in a dim lighted room. The atmosphere in the room was unusually cold than any other time as a dead, eerie silence followed after.

"No, this won’t do. I won’t let others sully your beautiful image. If need be, I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure no one will approach you." He whispered as he lifted up his face, looking at his image between his fingers, a dark shadow seemed to loom behind as his eyes glinted in the dark night, where the shadow of the moon disappeared.

In an instant, rumor spread within the entire Academy about how handsome and elegant the so-called ’Demon instructor’ of the Academy was, and that’s why many students gathered in the arena not to see the fight, but to get a glimpse of the teacher’s beauty.

Yun Shu didn’t need to walk till the arena since she was directly transported at the location by the system, at the right time and place.

However, she didn’t forget about a certain someone as she scanned around the entire arena, only to see Bai Yunxian arriving at a fast pace, almost running.

She wondered how this simple vision could make her this happy, as her corner of mouth lifted up in silence.
