Chapter 816: 763 Helping
Chapter 816: Chapter 763 Helping
“How could this happen…” As An Ran walked away, Liu Hun mumbled, his face blank.
Then he looked at Qian Zhongshu beside him. At this moment, Qian Zhongshu also had a blank expression, as if he still hadn’t processed what had happened.
He had only used a bottle to stab the other person, and as a professor in the medical faculty, he was very aware that the length of the shattered bottle was definitely not enough to cause death from excessive bleeding.
However, since An Ran said so, it evidently was the case.
If it had just been intentional injury without causing severe harm, at most they would have to pay some money to settle it privately, but with someone’s death, it’s a different matter.
Though by law, Qian Zhongshu committed an unintentional murder, it was still murder, enough to have him spend a lifetime in prison.
“Mr. Qian, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have dragged you to the bar tonight.” After a while, Liu Hun said to Qian Zhongshu with a face full of apology.
With Liu Hun’s words, Qian Zhongshu finally came to his senses, his face full of desolation, looking as though he had lost his soul, extremely miserable.
However, Liu Hun felt no remorse in his heart; since Qian Zhongshu was involved with that Poisonous Insect organization, he evidently hadn’t helped any less in harming others over the years. Regarding Zhou Jing’s matter, Qian Zhongshu probably couldn’t escape responsibility either.
“Mr. Liu, regardless of how things went, this time, I accidentally killed someone, and I likely won’t escape it; but this matter has nothing to do with you, after all, you didn’t even touch that person.” Qian Zhongshu said to Liu Hun with a bitter expression.
“Mr. Qian…” Liu Hun gritted his teeth, looking at Qian Zhongshu but didn’t continue, as anything said now seemed too feeble.
“Mr. Liu, you don’t need to blame yourself, this is my responsibility. If I hadn’t dragged you out for drinks tonight, none of this would have happened. So, I have a request for you after you get out, and I hope you’ll agree to it.” Qian Zhongshu said with a touch of pleading, looking at Liu Hun.
In response, Liu Hun nodded heavily and said, “As long as it’s something I, Liu Hun, can do, I won’t refuse in the slightest.” Liu Hun patted his chest and promised.
“I hope you can take care of Xiaoxiao in the future. Although she’s changed a lot these days, no matter what, she’s the most important person to me in this world.” After saying this, Qian Zhongshu sat on the ground with a thud, looking a bit disheartened.
“Don’t worry, Mr. Qian, as long as I’m alive, I won’t let your wife suffer any grievance.” Liu Hun said through gritted teeth.
With Liu Hun’s promise, Qian Zhongshu didn’t speak again, just sat on the ground, staring blankly ahead.
Facing Qian Zhongshu’s current state, Liu Hun could only sigh and say nothing further.
Three days later, since Liu Hun only injured someone without causing death, he was released without charges, even An Ran was helpless.
Qian Zhongshu, on the other hand, was in a bit of a plight. Since there was both testimonial and physical evidence, there was no need for extensive investigation. Coupled with Qian Zhongshu’s confession, he was immediately sentenced to life imprisonment.
The sun was high in the sky as Liu Hun drove directly to the Chen Family.
Just stepping into the yard, Liu Hun saw Old Chen watering the flowers, humming a little tune, looking exceptionally leisurely.
“Grandpa Chen, congratulations on your rapid recovery recently.” Liu Hun said with a smile to Old Chen, handing a few packages of traditional Chinese medicine to an unhappy-looking Chen Wen beside him.
“It’s all thanks to you. If it weren’t for you, I guess these old bones of mine would have been buried long ago.” Old Chen said with a grin, looking at Liu Hun.
“I say, Liu Hun, with assets worth several billion, you came over with just these things?” Chen Wen glanced at the herbs in his hand and couldn’t help but sneer.
“Uncle Chen, don’t speak carelessly if you don’t understand, and even if I give you one billion, would you dare to take it?” Liu Hun knew Chen Wen was deliberately picking at him, so he didn’t mind, rolling his eyes and saying impolitely.
“You!” Being retorted by Liu Hun, Chen Wen’s face turned somewhat red; Liu Hun’s words were factual, even if given one billion, Chen Wen wouldn’t dare accept it.
“Alright, as an elder, why argue with a junior? Hunzi, tell us what purpose this gift serves?” Old Chen knew Liu Hun wouldn’t bring useless things for no reason.
Even though these were just trinkets, he was still quite interested, seemingly curious about anything related to Liu Hun.
“This package of Chinese medicine is for you, Grandpa Chen. After taking it, it strengthens the body and bones; though I can’t promise it’ll let you live to a great age, living a few more years shouldn’t be a problem.” Liu Hun explained with a smile.
“Why does it sound like there’s something off about that?” Old Chen’s eyes sparkled, but he deliberately made it difficult for Liu Hun.
“If Grandpa Chen doesn’t want it, you can return it to me. I spent hundreds of dollars to prepare this medicine.” Liu Hun said, pretending to take it back from Chen Wen’s hand.
You’re kidding; no way Chen Wen would let Liu Hun snatch anything. Although Chen Wen has always been dissatisfied with Liu Hun, deep down he still admired him, especially his medical skills which were beyond doubt.
If he could prolong the old man’s life for a few more years, aside from emotional factors, it would only benefit the Chen Family.
“What’s in this package?” the old man continued smiling at Liu Hun and asked.
“This package is for Uncle Chen. As a long-time cop, staying up late over the years might have caused issues with your lumbar and cervical spine. Taking this medicine long-term will ensure you can outrun those young guys when catching criminals.” Liu Hun promised confidently.
Upon hearing Liu Hun’s words, Chen Wen’s eyes sparkled. He knew his own ailments well, and several times he wanted to ask Liu Hun for help but couldn’t bring himself to do it.
“And Uncle Chen, don’t call me generous and ask why not treat your ailments in one go. If these could be cured by herbal medicine, it would only benefit your health,” Liu Hun seemed to sense Chen Wen’s thoughts and explained dismissively.
“Seems like I should thank you then.” Chen Wen looked up at Liu Hun and asked.
“No need to thank me, just help me out with something next,” Liu Hun said, a long smile appearing on his lips.
“Wishful thinking!” Chen Wen rejected outright.
However, as soon as he finished, the old man blinked and looked at Liu Hun curiously, asking, “Hun, what big earth-shattering event are you planning now?”
“It’s not such a big deal, just want Uncle Chen to help me break out of prison,” Liu Hun said, and the watering can in the old man’s hands dropped to the ground as he stared dumbfounded.
“Liu Hun, what did you just say?” Chen Wen widened his eyes, clutching Liu Hun for confirmation.
Seeing the identical looks on father and son, a few sweat lines appeared on Liu Hun’s forehead.
After sorting his thoughts, he said seriously, “Uncle Chen, you should remember about the death of a girl named Zhou Jing a week ago at Southeast Normal University, right?”
“What does that have to do with your prison break?” Chen Wen glared at Liu Hun and asked.
“When I first went to Southeast University to teach, the dissection class the first night happened to be this girl. From my autopsy, I found Poisonous Insect in her body, meaning she was killed by it. I believe there have been quite a few bizarre cases over the years?” Liu Hun said calmly and unhurriedly.
“Poisonous Insect? Are you talking about that thing from TV?” Chen Wen looked at Liu Hun incredulously.
“Yes, exactly that thing. Of course, Uncle Chen, you might find it unrealistic. I can take you to the school morgue to reopen Zhou Jing’s body, but you must agree to my request first,” Liu Hun said to both the old man and Chen Wen seriously and calmly.
“Even so, what does it have to do with your prison break… wait, you want to break Qian Zhongshu out from your school a few days ago? Is this Poisonous Insect related to him?” Chen Wen suddenly realized, somewhat shocked.
Liu Hun was so certain that deep down he believed it to some extent, but changing his worldview suddenly was still difficult.
“Yes, don’t ask how I know it’s related to Qian Zhongshu, and you can’t tell anyone about this because their power is beyond our imagination. You could say Qian Zhongshu’s current predicament was orchestrated by me, from originally treating his girlfriend’s face, leading her astray, to eventually having a fight in a bar only for him to accidentally kill someone. Though it caused me trouble, it saved me a lot of hassle.” Liu Hun concealed only the murder part, but told the rest.
After Chen Wen listened to Liu Hun’s story, he looked at him with disbelief.
“Liu Hun, I must say, you’re sinister, despicable, stopping at nothing to achieve your goals!” After a long time, Chen Wen took a deep breath and said to Liu Hun.
“Thanks for the compliment, Uncle Chen. Perhaps you think I’m cruel, despicable, but for me, it’s different. I admit I’m selfish; if I could use others’ lives to exchange for my own or my relatives’, I wouldn’t hesitate.” Liu Hun laughed lightly and said casually.
“Furthermore, many of their Poisonous Insects require bodies to cultivate. Over the years, regarding mysterious death cases and missing persons, I’ve investigated before coming here. I think Uncle Chen knows if I could expose this force, it would be a great credit to you.” Liu Hun said.
“Then what benefit can you get? I don’t believe you’d put so much effort into something that benefits the public.” Chen Wen looked at Liu Hun disdainfully.
“The greatest benefit I’d get is the removal of a threat. That’s all I can tell you for now, as some things can’t be disclosed even to Grandpa Chen, because knowing would only be harmful.” Liu Hun looked at the father and son seriously.
The old man then deeply gazed at Liu Hun, exclaiming, “Hun, each time you return, you bring mystery and shock. Sometimes I don’t even know if binding the Chen Family to you is good or bad.”
“It won’t be too bad, if good, I can guarantee peace for the Chen Family after your passing,” Liu Hun decisively said to the old man.
After Liu Hun finished, the old man’s eyes narrowed slightly, then instructed Chen Wen, “You two discuss the matter next. I’ll go exercise these old bones; aging is no good.”
