Chapter 808: Chapter 755 Only Save One

Liu Hun didn’t hear the last few sentences from Gu Li behind him, as he had already left.

Not long after returning to the office, Liu Qingqing notified him to attend a meeting. Seeing Liu Qingqing’s serious expression, Liu Hun didn’t hesitate and they headed straight to the meeting room.

Just as he stepped into the meeting room and saw it packed with people, Liu Hun couldn’t help but be taken aback. Judging by the setup, something major must have happened.

Just as Liu Hun was about to sit down in the last row where there was an empty seat, an untimely voice slowly rose.

“This must be our hospital’s Divine Doctor, Liu Hun, right? Such a big shot, making all of us wait for you even at a critical meeting like this.” Gu Li stood up and said to Liu Hun in a faint voice.

Liu Hun stopped walking, looking at Gu Li’s sarcastic and dissatisfied face, he slightly furrowed his brow.

“Does my arrival or absence have anything to do with you?” Liu Hun calmly asked Gu Li.

He had just seen this guy messing around with a female doctor at the office entrance and kindly chose not to disturb him. Who would’ve thought Gu Li would pick a fight so soon.

“As a member of the hospital, everyone must attend such urgent meetings. It’s a rule, even though your medical skills are indeed superior, rules exist everywhere. I think Dr. Liu should understand this, right?” Gu Li looked at Liu Hun with a smile.

Seeing Liu Hun’s somewhat displeased look, the director hurriedly stepped in to mediate, saying, “Perhaps Dr. Liu simply didn’t receive the notice. Alright, now that everyone is here, let’s start the meeting.”

Since the director had spoken, Liu Hun didn’t add anything further and went straight to sit in the last row.

“Who is this guy?” Liu Hun asked Liu Qingqing next to him as soon as he sat down.

“He was recently transferred back from overseas as an internist and is well-known internationally. It’s said ‘one mountain cannot contain two tigers,’ so maybe he has issues with you for this reason. Don’t be angry, you hardly spend time at the hospital anyway,” Liu Qingqing consoled Liu Hun.

Liu Hun took a long look at Gu Li but didn’t answer Liu Qingqing.

The meeting lasted about twenty minutes, from which Liu Hun deduced from the director’s speech that a school had suffered an explosion, leading to dozens of students being critically injured, so the entire hospital must mobilize to treat the students.

“Director, although my expertise is in internal medicine, I hope to be part of this rescue effort too. We don’t have many surgeons in the hospital, and I’ve studied surgery abroad for a long time before, so I believe I can handle this work.” After the director finished, Gu Li stood up and proactively volunteered.

“Alright then, the next few days might be hard on everyone present. Also, if you’re uncertain about any surgeries, you can seek Dr. Liu’s help during the operations,” the director clapped his hands and said.

Though Liu Hun didn’t oppose the director’s decision, he felt uncomfortable with being commanded.

Back in his office, Liu Hun continued watching a movie, as there was nothing involving him for now.

He had planned to have dinner with Liu Qingqing tonight, but that plan was canceled due to this issue. At night, as Liu Hun was leaning back in his chair cultivating, a knock on the door startled him awake.

“Hun, a student’s brain is bleeding internally, and their abdomen is pierced through by steel bars…” Liu Qingqing walked into the office, anxiously informing Liu Hun.

Upon hearing this, Liu Hun’s face revealed a few traces of seriousness. With a nod, he immediately followed Liu Qingqing towards the operating room.

Upon entering the operating room, Liu Hun immediately saw Gu Li shaking his head helplessly and said, “This child can’t be saved, inform the family to prepare for the aftermath.”

“Bang!” As soon as Gu Li’s words fell, Liu Hun punched him hard in the face. He glanced at the hopeless face of the little girl lying on the hospital bed and coldly said to Gu Li, “Are you even human? The patient isn’t dead yet!”

“Liu Hun! Damn you dare to hit me? You really think you’re something, huh? Fine, if you’re capable, go ahead!” Gu Li, after being punched by Liu Hun, was furious.

Liu Hun ignored Gu Li and went to the operating table to look at the girl in front of him, who was fourteen or fifteen years old. Her pale cheeks held eyes full of despair.

The girl’s abdomen was pierced by a steel bar, and her forehead was covered in blood, yet those eyes remained so clear.

Being so severely injured and still not unconscious surely indicated strong willpower; otherwise, such injuries wouldn’t have lasted until now.

Watching this scene, Liu Hun suddenly recalled the moment of his previous life’s murder, just like the girl before him—filled with despair, but with no one there to save him.

That’s why he sympathized with her, not wanting her to experience despair at such a young age.

“Little sister, listen carefully to big brother’s words. No matter your current physical state, big brother guarantees to heal you. Trust big brother, alright?” Liu Hun offered a slight smile and softly said to the girl on the operating table.

Observing the girl’s subtly touched eyes, Liu Hun’s smile grew brighter as he continued, “Though everyone says there’s no saving you, brother doesn’t believe that because he has also experienced death just like you. Therefore, big brother won’t let this happen to you.”

Faced with Liu Hun’s words, Gu Li scoffed and said, “Instead of wasting time with this nonsense, it’s better to start the surgery early; after all, sooner dead, sooner freed.”

Suppressing the anger within, Liu Hun nodded to the little girl, then took over the surgical knife and other equipment.

The girl’s most severe injury was not the abdomen’s steel bar, but the intracranial bleeding. If the blood clot isn’t cleared along with stopping the bleeding, she won’t survive for more than half an hour.

“Forceps, scalpel…” Liu Hun continuously instructed Liu Qingqing beside him.

After cutting open the girl’s head and seeing it filled with blood, everyone couldn’t help but gasp. In medical terms, this almost confirmed death, yet being alive until now was nothing short of a miracle.

As Liu Hun’s surgery continued, nearly an hour later, a frantic voice came from outside: “Dr. Liu, there’s a child over there, and none of the other doctors dare to operate, so we hope you can go…”

“Tell them I’m busy and have no time!” Liu Hun responded directly without turning his head.

“But… but the child’s parents are…” Before the young nurse could finish, Liu Hun continued, “I don’t want to say it a second time.”

“It’s useless, Dr. Liu, I advise you to give up sooner.” Guli saw Liu Hun persisting and couldn’t help but mock him.

Seeing sweat on Liu Hun’s forehead, Liu Qingqing gently wiped it away and hesitated for a moment before saying to Liu Hun, “Hun, there’s still a lot of patients waiting for you, don’t waste your time anymore…”

“I, Liu Hun, am just one person, I can’t save everyone, but since I came across this case, I will not give up. If others die, it just means they were unlucky not to have found me sooner.” After speaking to Liu Qingqing, Liu Hun went back to focusing on the little girl without turning back.

Seeing Liu Hun so determined, Liu Qingqing sighed and said nothing more, leaving with Guli and the others, leaving only two young nurses with Liu Hun.

Everyone else had given up, but Liu Hun still did not give up.

Time passed by slowly. During this period, Liu Qingqing came to see Liu Hun several times, asking him to treat other patients, but Liu Hun refused every time.

After ten consecutive hours, Liu Hun removed his mask and looked at the values on the monitors, a slight smile appearing on his lips.

“Succeed…succeeded?” The two young nurses who accompanied Liu Hun for ten hours were exhausted, and when they saw this scene, they couldn’t help but show shock on their faces.

Everyone thought the girl was beyond saving, but it was Liu Hun’s perseverance that kept her alive.

“Big brother…” Shortly after the surgery ended, the girl slowly opened her eyes.

Hearing the girl call out, Liu Hun was momentarily stunned. The surgery had just concluded, and the girl waking up immediately was a miracle in the medical world.

Liu Hun’s lips slightly curled up, his face pale. During the previous ten hours of surgery, Liu Hun had exhausted significant energy to protect the girl’s heart, or else she would have died long ago; this was why she could open her eyes now.

“You’re fine now. Just rest for a while, and you’ll recover. Big brother promised you earlier and will definitely follow through.” Liu Hun said to the girl with a smile.

“Arrange for her to rest in a high-class ward.” Liu Hun instructed the two joyful young nurses beside him.

“Dr. Liu, she seems to be an orphan…” The two nurses looked troubled after Liu Hun’s words.

“All expenses are on me.” Liu Hun said calmly.

After the surgery, as Liu Hun went back to his office to rest, Liu Qingqing entered his office once again.

“Congratulations on saving the little girl.” Liu Qingqing said with a somewhat unpleasant expression, looking at Liu Hun.

“Since I promised her, I would definitely do it.” Liu Hun nodded.

“But did you think about everyone else? Do you know how many people died last night because of you? As many as five patients’ surgeries failed, and they died!” Liu Qingqing’s voice trembled as she finished speaking.

Looking at Liu Qingqing’s haggard state at this moment, Liu Hun calmly said to her, “Is there anything else you want to say?”

“In two hours, all doctors will convene in the meeting room!” Liu Qingqing said, not turning back as she left.

Watching Liu Qingqing’s departing figure, there was not a trace of nostalgia in Liu Hun’s eyes. Liu Qingqing did not understand what he had been through, so her disapproval was understandable to Liu Hun.

If this incident could make Liu Qingqing disappointed in him, perhaps it wasn’t such a bad thing.

Taking a deep breath, Liu Hun sat down in his chair and entered into cultivation.

An hour later, Liu Hun opened his eyes, planning to go see the little girl in the ward. Passing by Liu Qingqing’s office, Liu Hun stopped and returned, looking through the glass at the scene inside, his eyes carrying a cold and murderous glare.

In Liu Qingqing’s office, she was slumped in her chair asleep, while Guli was standing in front of her, brazenly scrutinizing her.

“I didn’t expect an opportunity this soon. Tsk tsk, I hope this aphrodisiac doesn’t disappoint me. Once I’ve had you, you’ll be my woman.” Guli’s eyes had a predatory look as he gazed at Liu Qingqing, his lips curling up slightly.

Seeing Guli about to open the bottle, Liu Hun kicked the door open, face cold as ice.

Startled awake by Liu Hun’s kick, Liu Qingqing blinked her eyes and saw Guli, surprised to see Liu Hun at the door.

“Dr. Gu, what are you doing here?” Liu Qingqing asked, looking at Guli with slightly hazy eyes.

“Oh, I came to retrieve some files and saw you resting, so I didn’t want to disturb you.” Guli explained.

“Bang!” Liu Hun’s fist landed hard on Guli’s face!

Seeing this, Liu Qingqing immediately became clear-headed, yelling at Liu Hun, “Liu Hun, what exactly are you doing?”
