Chapter 718: Chapter 665: The Rascal

If I can’t find the Heart Burning Grass, making the Great Yang Pill will be somewhat troublesome.

“Em? Light Grass? Although it’s not as potent as Heart Burning Grass, it can still selectively substitute. Hehe, it seems diligence does pay off after all. My luck today is pretty good.” Just as Liu Hun was about to leave disappointed, he suddenly noticed three plants of Light Grass growing in a pile of rocks just below him, and his eyes lit up.

Light Grass not only substitutes for Heart Burning Grass in conjunction with Iron Bone Grass roots to make the Great Yang Pill but also serves as an anesthetic—indeed a precious herb.

Overjoyed, Liu Hun quickly harvested the Light Grass and then hurried down the mountain.

As he approached his home, from a distance, he saw a large crowd gathered around his doorway. Thinking it was Mazi and others coming to cause trouble again, a cold light flickered in his eyes. However, when he reached the crowd, he realized it was something completely different.

“Ah, what a pity, such a beautiful girl, bitten by a banded krait.”

“Yes, yes, it’s such a shame, and there’s no doctor in our village. The only doctor might be Liu Zhongguo, since his father was a doctor here in the past.”

The villagers constantly expressed their sentiments while Liu Hun noticed that in the center of the crowd, a middle-aged man was holding a girl. The girl had a delicate and lovely face, truly a stunning beauty, except her complexion was also turning purple, clearly the venom of the banded krait was beginning to infiltrate her internal organs.

“Doctor Liu, please, save my niece. We were just playing around and didn’t expect her to get bitten by a venomous snake as we were about to descend the mountain. We heard you’re the only doctor in the village, if you don’t take action, my niece might not survive today…” Both the middle-aged man and the girl were dressed in fine clothes, clearly from a wealthy family, yet the man’s face was pale as he pleaded desolately to Liu Zhongguo.

“This, brother, it’s not that I refuse to help, but I genuinely have no medical skills. Though my father was a doctor, I didn’t learn any medical skills, so…”

Liu Zhongguo, too, felt embarrassed; he wanted to help, but without knowing medical skills, he was helpless.

Hearing Liu Zhongguo’s reply, the middle-aged man’s face turned ashen, and he stood frozen holding the girl in his arms, eyes fixed on her purpling face, filled with despair.

Just as Liu Hun walked into the crowd, he happened to see this scene. He glanced at the beautiful, sportily dressed girl in the middle-aged man’s arms; despite her purple complexion, Liu Hun could still tell she was definitely a great beauty.

Liu Hun had always liked beautiful women in his past life, so it was the same in this life. If it were another occasion, Liu Hun might even flirt a bit, but now with a life at stake, he couldn’t care about anything else.

“I’ll do it.” Liu Hun’s voice wasn’t loud, but when it fell in the crowd, it instantly silenced everyone, making it so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Liu’s father was relieved to see his son finally back home, but his expression changed slightly when he heard his son’s words.

“Hey, isn’t this Old Liu’s foolish son? I heard he just woke up yesterday and even gave Mazi a harsh beating, seems to have gotten smarter? Yet he spent the whole day cutting a bunch of weeds, what a filial child…”

At this point, some of the villagers watching couldn’t help but mock; Liu Hun remembered this woman, known as Aunt Huang, a notorious shrew in Shanghe Village who couldn’t stand seeing anyone better off than herself.

“Whether I’m foolish or not, what’s it to you? If you’ve got nothing to do in the future, stop loitering around our house. Be careful, or you might find yourself covered in rashes the next day!” Liu Hun bluntly stared at Aunt Huang and sneered.

“You!” Just as Aunt Huang was about to curse, Liu Hun was pulled aside by his father, who then glanced at the weeds in Liu Hun’s basket, his eyes showing a touch of concern, “Hun, I don’t care what you picked these wild grasses for today, but you can’t save this person. The way she looks, the snake venom has already entered her internal organs; even a Divine Doctor couldn’t save her now, let alone you who know no medical arts.”

Despite his father’s low voice, everyone around heard him clearly, the middle-aged man’s eyes briefly flickered with hope, but it quickly turned to despair again.

“Look, although he’s awake, he’s still a fool, gathering a bunch of wild grass and even thinking about saving someone…”

Aunt Huang finally found her moment to mock Liu Hun.

“You know nothing, these are medicinal herbs that can cure diseases and save lives!” Liu Hun glanced at Aunt Huang, disdainfully retorted.

Following that, Liu Hun turned his head and looked at his father with a serious face as he explained, “Dad, I was unconscious for three days. Do you know what I experienced? Grandpa’s spirit appeared and passed on the Liu Family’s medical skills to me. That’s also why I woke up and regained my senses; otherwise, I wouldn’t have gone to gather these herbs today. Right now, lives are at stake, so could you please help me retrieve Grandpa’s silver needles? You’ll soon know if what I’m saying is true.”

Hearing his son’s words, Mr. Liu appeared slightly dazed. In his bewildered state, he did as Liu Hun instructed.

“First, lay the patient flat on the ground. Her wound should be on her lower leg, right?” After dealing with his father, Liu Hun turned to face the middle-aged man and calmly said.

“Yes, yes, my niece was bitten by a poisonous snake on her lower leg.” Han Xin’er was wearing trousers, but Liu Hun could immediately tell where Han Xin’er’s injury was. This somewhat convinced Qin Zhongliang of Doctor Liu Hun’s credentials.

Though he had doubts about what Liu Hun had just said, there were no other doctors in Shanghe Village at the moment, so he was compelled to try whatever was available; otherwise, Han Xin’er would surely be facing death.

When Qin Zhongliang placed Han Xin’er on the ground, Liu Hun quickly came to her side, rolled up the pant leg, and observed her smooth skin that had turned purple. Liu Hun’s brows furrowed slightly, and after hesitating for a moment, he leaned in and gently placed his lips on it.

“What are you trying to do?” Qin Zhongliang couldn’t help but exclaim in shock when he saw Liu Hun’s movement.

“Sucking out the poison!” Liu Hun didn’t look up and promptly proceeded.

“Such smooth skin…” The moment his lips touched her skin, a ripple passed through Liu Hun’s heart. However, he quickly refocused himself on extracting the poison.

Mr. Liu brought over the silver needles just as Liu Hun had extracted some of the snake venom. Now with the needles in hand, Liu Hun sterilized them on an old-fashioned alcohol lamp Mr. Liu held out. Then, with agile fingers, Liu Hun rapidly positioned needle after needle on the girl’s body.

“Wasn’t my niece poisoned in the lower leg? Why are you sticking needles everywhere?” Qin Zhongliang asked Liu Hun worriedly.

“The snake venom has spread to her internal organs, so I have to use silver needles to force the poison out…” Liu Hun explained as he swiftly placed multiple needles all over the girl’s body.

After a while, Liu Hun quickly removed the needles. Just as he pulled out the last needle, the girl vomited a mouthful of pitch-black blood. She glanced at Liu Hun with her beautiful eyes before losing consciousness again.

After securing the needles, Liu Hun nonchalantly came to the side, feeling a bit heartbroken. He took out some Light Grass from his basket, chewed it to pieces, and gently applied it to Han Xin’er’s wound.

“All done, take her back and let her recuperate for a few days. However, make sure she avoids spicy foods during these days, as they could cause gastrointestinal discomfort, leading to symptoms like vomiting and dizziness,” Liu Hun said, clapping his hands to indicate that he had finished.

Qin Zhongliang glanced at Han Xin’er, whose complexion was gradually returning to normal, clearly out of danger. His gaze shifted back to Liu Hun, flashing with a slightly unusual expression.

He, too, knew some basic first aid and was well aware of the danger of Han Xin’er’s snakebite, which was generally deemed fatal. He had come here clinging to a glimmer of hope, but now, to his surprise, the young man had miraculously brought Han Xin’er back from the brink.

However, Qin Zhongliang did not voice these thoughts. Instead, he pulled out a stack of money and a business card, handing them to Liu Hun while saying, “Young man, I’m really grateful to you. I didn’t bring much money with me on this trip, so please accept this as a token of my gratitude. If you come to the county city, call me, and I promise to deliver your fee personally.”

Liu Hun looked at the stack of money and the business card Qin Zhongliang handed him, muttering, “Qin Zhongliang, manager of the Honghe Group?”

While Liu Hun focused on the business card, everyone around tightly stared at the stack of money in his hand—it was a bright red amount of money! Liu Hun had just made over ten thousand dollars in an instant, earning money at an unbelievably fast pace!

“In the future, anyone can come to me for medical treatment…”

After handing the stack of money to his father, who stood beside him with a dazed expression, Liu Hun smiled and addressed the villagers behind him, “Of course, you don’t need to pay so much as a fee; you can trade with herbal materials. If needed, come and register with me later, and I’ll list some herbs for you; starting today, I, Liu Hun, am the sole doctor of Shanghe Village!”
