Chapter 706: Chapter 654: Storm Brewing
“Liu Hun! It’s my fault! I didn’t instruct the brothers properly!” Zhong Xiao said from the side.
Liu Hun waved his hand, “It’s not your fault! If it weren’t for your foresight to have someone keep an eye on the nursing home, we probably wouldn’t even know about this incident.” After saying this, Liu Hun paused, then asked Zhong Xiao, “Have you found out about those guys from Wan Chai? Why did they take away the director and Qi Gongru? Is it related to Lin Feng and his group?”
“I immediately had Wang Laizi call you as soon as I received the message, and I instructed all the branches to gather information. It’s been about half an hour now, so we should be hearing something soon,” Zhong Xiao said to Liu Hun, his schedule was very tight.
Liu Hun knew that Zhong Xiao had done everything he could, all they could do now was wait patiently, but it had been a long time since last night, and he was most concerned about whether Qi Gongru might have run into trouble in the meantime.
“Ding ding ding… ding ding ding…” At that moment, Zhong Xiao’s phone began to ring.
Zhong Xiao answered the phone and demanded, “Speak!”
“Brother Zhong! At four o’clock this morning, a client from Wan Chai visited Lan Hua on Temple Street. He complained about the client’s violent tendencies which were overheard by one of my men. Not sure if this is the person you’re looking for,” the voice of the person in charge of the Temple Street branch came through the phone.
“Do you know where this Wan Chai guy is now?” Zhong Xiao asked through the phone.
“I’ve sent brothers to check; we should know very soon,” the person in charge told Zhong Xiao.
“Hurry up! You know my patience is limited!” Zhong Xiao said, then hung up the phone, and recounted the entire conversation to Liu Hun verbatim.
The three of them continued to sit at the table waiting, and after about seven or eight minutes, Zhong Xiao’s phone rang again.
“Did you find him?!” Zhong Xiao asked as he picked up the phone.
“We found him! One of my guys saw the Wan Chai guy entering a private club called Ming Shi,” the person in charge said on the phone.
“Ming Shi Club!” Zhong Xiao immediately hung up and said to Liu Hun.
“Exactly, exactly! That’s the club those three entered!” Wang Laizi told them.
“Liu Hun! I’ll call people right away!” Zhong Xiao said, standing up and immediately starting to make calls.
“Wait!” Liu Hun, who was initially anxious, suddenly calmed down and said to Zhong Xiao, “This matter isn’t suitable for you to handle, I’ll have the police deal with it! You take people and block the Ming Shi Club! Don’t let even an ant escape!”
Liu Hun pressed Zhong Xiao, then immediately called Yang Xinrui, instructing her to raid the Ming Shi Club on kidnapping charges. With Zhong Xiao’s help, Yang Xinrui led the police to catch the club unawares. What Liu Hun didn’t expect was that the private club was registered jointly by Lin Feng and Qu Jiaron – obviously a den for their indulgence.
Yang Xinrui’s raid not only captured two illegally smuggled individuals from Wan Chai but also rescued Qi Gongru and the director, saving Qi Gongru from a cruel fate while the director remained unharmed. Yang Xinrui also made another significant discovery: contraband drugs, entertainment paraphernalia, and several women in the Ming Shi Club.
“I didn’t expect it to be so filthy here,” Yang Xinrui said with a stern face to Liu Hun, “Should we detain and arrest them now and proceed with the lawsuit?”
“No! Hold off! Gather all the evidence first!” Liu Hun told Yang Xinrui, he already had a comprehensive plan and deployment in mind.
Gongru, looking disheveled, was escorted to the police car. Liu Hun arranged for Yang Zihuan to temporarily take care of her, hoping the cheerful Yang Zihuan could comfort her. Once Gongru was settled, Liu Hun then found Wen Li, unclear why the Wan Chai were targeting her.
After seeing Liu Hun, Wen Li felt much more settled and then Liu Hun asked, “Director Wen, why would the Wan Chai target the nursing home?”
“It’s not just those Wan Chai! It’s that real estate group!” Wen Li said with a bitter smile, seeing some confusion on Liu Hun’s face, she continued, “I’m talking about our nursing home’s relocation.”
“Oh!” Liu Hun immediately understood, suddenly asking, “You mean that plot of land! Are you saying this has to do with that land?!”
“Yes! It’s about that land! The issue of that land has been pending, and I still hold the deeds. Now they’ve barbarically started some construction work and want to get the deeds from me.”
So that’s how it is! Liu Hun immediately understood and thought to himself that the drama needed a bit more spice. He then said to Wen Li with a smile, “I wonder if Dean Wen would be willing to sell that land to me?”
Wen Li forced a smile and replied, “Mr. Liu, please stop joking. I don’t even own that land. If you bought the deed, you’d only be digging your own grave.”
“This deed might be useless or even a hot potato in your hands,” Liu Hun told Wen Li, “but in my hands, it has significant value! All you need to do is nod in agreement to sell it to me. Don’t worry, Dean Wen, I won’t let you suffer any losses.”
Wen Li pondered for a moment but still worried about implicating Liu Hun further and asked, “Mr. Liu, are you serious?”
Liu Hun earnestly nodded and replied, “Of course, I am! I, Liu Hun, always mean what I say!”
Considering that Liu Hun insisted on buying the land and that she could resolve the matter, Wen Li finally nodded and agreed, “Mr. Liu, you are a good man! I hope this land won’t bring you any trouble!”
“Don’t worry! It definitely won’t!” Liu Hun assured Dean Wen with a smile. He felt that avoiding trouble for others was a good deed, who would dare cause him trouble.
Two days later, a notable wedding was held between the Lin and Qu families, prominent groups in Hong Kong, celebrating Lin Meixin and Qu Jiarong’s union.
In the groom’s resting room, Qu Jiarong, Lin Feng, and Tony were having a lively conversation.
“Brother-in-law! You wouldn’t believe how many journalists and media outlets came today! They really honored our families,” Lin Feng said, standing beside Qu Jiarong.
Qu Jiarong, thrilled, barely held back his laughter and said, “After the wedding, I will have complete control over Liheng Group’s future ventures — married and immediately head of the family! It’s time we changed the name of Liheng Group!”
Lin Feng never anticipated his future brother-in-law’s immense ambition, but being from another prominent family, he could relate to the difficulty of living under his father’s shadow.
Tony, sipping his wine, watched Qu Jiarong gloating. The sight nearly made him laugh, but one thing had been troubling him, he couldn’t understand why, since their engagement day, Lin Meixin had consistently rejected him.
Hmph! Women are so cheap! Once I take over both groups, I’ll control all these women! Tony thought bitterly.
“Tony, when is Josephine arriving?” Qu Jiarong asked, eager to meet this exotic beauty.
Tony glanced at his watch and replied, “She should be here soon!” He wasn’t particularly interested in his own wife; he always thought wildflowers smelled sweeter than home blossoms.
“Brother-in-law, these media folks were invited by your family, right?” Lin Feng asked Qu Jiarong, more concerned about getting his chance in the limelight.
“Of course! Our families’ union has shaken all of Hong Kong! Who wouldn’t pay attention? Plus, the “Skies and Waters” project is a cornerstone for our families’ progress! We must create great momentum!” Qu Jiarong responded, becoming more excited and increasingly assured of a bright and smooth future.
As the three of them were enjoying their chat, suddenly a flurry of hurried knocks sounded at the door.
“Who’s panicking like that? Absolutely unseemly!” Qu Jiarong exclaimed irritably, feeling quite the part of the sect leader, always needing to maintain certain standards.
Qu Jiarong opened the door with a scowl, heart skipping a beat, “Big Black! What are you doing here?!”
The figure standing before them was Big Black, who helped Lin Feng and Qu Jiarong manage their private club, usually someone who wouldn’t appear here nor contact them directly. His presence indicated trouble.
“Boss! Something terrible has happened!” Big Black wiped the sweat from his forehead as he spoke.
Qu Jiarong, alarmed, immediately pulled Big Black inside then checked for any followers before shutting the door.
“Big Black! What are you doing here?” Lin Feng was also shocked to see Qu Jiarong pulling Big Black inside.
Big Black, visibly distraught, explained, “Bosses! It’s a disaster! The police raided our club! The Dean and Qi Gongru were both saved by the police! Our… our usual stuff has been seized by the police!”
“What?” Tony, although not an owner of the club, had been there and knew what was inside. Such items were illegal in any country.
“I… I don’t know what happened! The cops just stormed in! We were blocked from both ends, no way to run!” Big Black explained to the threesome.
“When did this happen? Why are you only telling me now?” Qu Jiarong shouted at Big Black.
Big Black awkwardly told Qu Jiarong, “It happened two days ago! Everyone was caught, I only escaped because I ran into a cop friend!”
