Chapter 696: Chapter 644: Secret Visit
Xue Binghan pondered over it and hesitated. Just when she couldn’t make up her mind, she suddenly saw Guo Caixia’s face, and immediately made a decision. This was an opportunity to bargain with Liu Hun. If all she did was hold on to the stock rights, it would mean only sitting at home collecting dividends. She had taken enough money over the years; now what she wanted was power and the chance to directly confront Guo Caixia!
“Alright! I agree to your terms. But beyond this matter, I have other demands!” Xue Binghan said to Liu Hun.
Liu Hun smiled slightly. As long as he could get hold of the Hong Kong Wireless stock rights and take complete control of the company, it would be the best outcome. “Sure, state your conditions!”
“I also want to be the president of Hong Kong Wireless! You can’t give it to Guo Caixia; it has to be me!” Xue Binghan straightforwardly brought her demand to Liu Hun.
“What are you talking about? Xue Binghan, what makes you think you can fill that position!” Guo Caixia immediately objected, knowing that Liu Hun really wanted the stock rights that Xue Binghan controlled, putting her in a very weak position.
“You can certainly be a president, but not of Hong Kong Wireless,” Liu Hun said to Xue Binghan, then went on to explain, “I made a promise to Guo Caixia, and that’s my word, just like I’m promising you now. If today I can break my promise to Guo Caixia, tomorrow I could do the same to you, right? Moreover, I have said before that I will integrate the overlapping resources of Zhongxing and Hong Kong Wireless. I was thinking about an exchange between the two, but now that I have full control of Hong Kong Wireless, I’ll carve out that part and establish a new media company. I assure you, the company under your control will be no less than Hong Kong Wireless and Zhongxing. Don’t just take shelter under someone else’s tree; you should have your own business and create your own history. How does that sound?”
Liu Hun’s words thoroughly moved Xue Binghan. Her greatest dissatisfaction in the past was that the old master handed the company over to Guo Caixia. Now, having a company of her own that could match Hong Kong Wireless, why wouldn’t she be pleased? So, she nodded, “Fine! I agree! A new company then. But first… you need to get me fixed up, then we can proceed with the stock transfer!”
“No problem,” Liu Hun nodded and agreed with Xue Binghan.
“Also!” Xue Binghan suddenly spoke again, pointing at Guo Caixia, “I have to screw over this woman too!”
Liu Hun shook his head, “You’re both presidents; your status is the same in my eyes. I can’t order her to let you screw her over, but you two can negotiate. It seems to me you both enjoy it, why not let your guard down and have a good time?”
Caught out by Liu Hun’s blunt words, the two women glanced at each other, then spat in disdain and turned their heads away.
Liu Hun understood the psychology of the two women thoroughly. He obviously knew that this was exactly what the women wanted to do, but neither could swallow their pride, so he laughed and said to them, “How about this? After both of you take office, you use each quarter’s financial report to compete. The winner gets to play with the loser, how about that? Besides, don’t you both think you’re more capable managers than the other? Give it a try!”
Hearing Liu Hun’s suggestion, the two women actually thought it wasn’t a bad idea. Guo Caixia was the first to speak, “Hmph! I’m afraid some people only talk tough! When it’s time, let’s see how they cope when I push too far!”
“Heh! What a joke! Who’s afraid of whom? If it weren’t for your fat pressing down on me, would I have endured it for so long? Once I win, I will tie you up and do it hard!” Xue Binghan also retorted without showing any weakness.
“Clap!” With a strike of his hand, Liu Hun said, “There, it’s settled!” He was filled with joy inside, looking forward to seeing how the two women would manipulate each other. This would surely be entertaining, something he couldn’t have broached if it were his own woman.
“Guo Caixia, go get ready to take over as president of Hong Kong Wireless! Xue Binghan, we can start your treatment right now, to avoid further complications.” Liu Hun said to the two women.
In order to beat Xue Binghan, Guo Caixia certainly needed to prepare. Hearing Liu Hun’s words, she knew that nothing was going to happen between the two of them that day.
After successfully merging with Hong Kong Wireless, Liu Hun undertook a massive integration of resources from Zhongxing and Hong Kong Wireless, creating a new media company—Xinghui Media, and as promised, he handed it over to Xue Binghan to control. In doing so, Liu Hun had essentially unified the entertainment media industry in Hong Kong. Also, as the first batch of new stars of the Imperial City Time era, the top three stars of Imperial City’s Rising Stars emerged as expected—champion Yang Zihuan, runner-up Qi Gongru, and third-place Mi Zi.
To further build their stardom, Liu Hun arranged a Southeast Asia concert tour for the three stars while their popularity was at its peak, propelling them to even greater heights.
Liu Hun instructed Jiang Fengqin to immediately mobilize all of Imperial City’s resources to tailor-make albums for the three of them and prepare for the concerts, while he kept a close eye on the operations of the newly established Xinghui Media. However, to his surprise, Xue Binghan’s management capabilities were indeed extraordinary, and she quickly got the hang of running the new company.
“That’s fine! Just park the car here! You can go back. I’ll call you if I need anything.” Liu Hun said to the driver, Wang Laizi.
Wang Laizi asked with some confusion, “Brother Liu, aren’t you heading to Xinghui Group? We’re still a distance away from Xinghui; why don’t I drive you there?” In fact, Wang Laizi was somewhat concerned for Liu Hun’s safety. After all, he knew the commotion Liu Hun had caused in Hong Kong, and Zhong Xiao had also repeatedly instructed him to escort Liu Hun back and forth, and to report immediately if anything happened. If Liu Hun got out of the car here, he would be out of Wang Laizi’s sight for a considerable distance.
“No need!” Liu Hun said as he pulled the car door open. He knew that Wang Laizi was worried about his well-being, but people like Wang Laizi had no idea about the kind of training he’d received at the base. Taking on a few people with his bare hands was not a problem for him.
After getting out of the car, Liu Hun walked towards the Xinghui headquarters. To demonstrate his regard for Xinghui, he had also arranged for Xinghui to have their own property—a building situated on Milton Road that was wholly owned by Xinghui Group.
When Liu Hun arrived at the Xinghui Building, it happened to be the lunch break. There were quite a few people coming in and out of the Xinghui Building; some wore Xinghui badges, while others bore no identification. Upon inquiring, he learned that today was the day Xinghui Group was conducting interviews for their morning news anchor, so he used this opportunity to blend into the Xinghui Building.
After entering the elevator, three girls who looked as if they had just come from school were chatting. When Liu Hun came in, they immediately lowered their voices, but they continued talking.
“Hey, did you see that guy?” asked the girl with permed hair to the other two.
“He looks pretty good, and he’s got a nice figure. Could he be here for the anchor audition?” said the girl in a miniskirt.
“A man auditioning to be an anchor? Isn’t that a bit strange?” the third girl with short hair commented.
“What’s so strange about that? It says they’re recruiting an anchor, didn’t specify male or female, just one position,” the girl with permed hair clarified to the others.
“That puts some pressure on us, though. He looks quite impressive,” said the girl in a miniskirt, admiring Liu Hun.
“Don’t lose heart! The recruitment manager is a man; we have an advantage,” the girl with permed hair said, wiggling her body.
“Hey! We agreed to compete fairly, based on merit! Don’t get any funny ideas!” the short-haired girl immediately warned.
With a touch of disdain, the girl with permed hair said, “Heh, this,” while caressing her cheek, “is also a form of merit.”
“It’s just a face. Do you think men appreciate that? Look here! Men prefer this!” Not to be outdone, the short-haired girl squeezed her chest, and her black lace bra pushed up against her ample bosom, revealing a deep cleavage.
“Stop it, you two. You’ll become a laughingstock! It’s not even certain if it will be our turn!” the girl in the miniskirt tried to mediate.
“Don’t act all saint-like. I saw everything this morning. You’ve got some nerve! Daring to go commando in such a short skirt, you can do it too!” the girl with permed hair immediately shot back.
The three women were chattering away when suddenly they heard the “ding!” of the elevator bell. They all immediately closed their mouths and rushed out of the elevator. Liu Hun followed suit.
After stepping out of the elevator and turning a corner, he saw over a hundred people sitting on either side of the corridor. A staff-like person was distributing some forms to fill out, and everyone there was either writing their information down or waiting to receive a form. No one wanted to step away, and most of them were women, with only a few men present.
Liu Hun also received a form to fill out, which only asked for basic information. He wasn’t all that interested in the information, and having had too much coffee that morning, he put the form aside and headed to the restroom.
Right when he reached the restroom door, he saw a security guard standing at the entrance. The guard, seeing Liu Hun approach, said, “I apologize sir, but this is a restroom for staff only. If you need to use the restroom, please use the one on the floor below.”
“What’s the reasoning behind that?” Liu Hun asked, confused. The restroom had to be split between staff and non-staff, so did that mean the hundred or so applicants had to go all the way downstairs to relieve themselves?
“It’s the company policy! Please comply!” The guard was standing in front of Liu Hun, clearly not letting him through.
Liu Hun nodded. He didn’t want to give the frontline workers a hard time as the guards were also just doing their jobs. He was about to turn around and leave when out of the restroom came a middle-aged man dressed in a suit, with slicked hair, who, after wiping his hands with a handkerchief, pulled out a woman from inside. Wrapping his arm around her waist, he laughed wolfishly, “How was that, baby? Exciting, huh? Quite a thrill, right?”
