Chapter 378 - 66: Human Clan’s New Weapon

Chapter 378: Chapter 66: Human Clan’s New Weapon

The Blast Bull Beasts had retreated, and they did not cause any harm to the Lie Mountain Tribe. Only some of the outermost defensive measures of the tribe had been seriously damaged.

This made Lie Mountain realize that on the Shen Zhou land, teeming with wild beasts and ravaged by the Demon Race, sturdy defense constructions held an irreplaceable position for the survival of the Human Clan.

After returning to the tribe, Lie Mountain encouraged his people to build tall walls around the perimeter of the tribe, on top of which they placed many immensely heavy stones, to be used for defense against future beast invasions.

Thus, life in the Lie Mountain Tribe once again returned to calmness.

The Northern Continent houses many harsh environments, which also created a batch of wild beasts and the Demon Race that can adapt to various severe conditions.

By this time, the Human Clan had long lost the robust physical prowess of their Ancient Ancestors.

Their bodies were frail, and although occasionally there were those who excelled in practicing Combat Skills, none were as exceptional as Fu Xi and Lie Mountain. Often, their cultivation would end at the stage of Refining Qi to Divinity, so when they went out to capture wild beasts with spiritual intelligence, they would inevitably get injured by beasts or the Demon Race.

Lie Mountain pondered for several days but could not come up with a solution.

One day, while he was contemplating in the grand hall for a solution, he incidentally caught a glimpse of the wall of the council hall, carved with Sun-shooting carvings.

The first carving depicted a robust man with a torso like a tiger’s and a waist like a bear’s, with deep and profound eyes. His strong left hand firmly gripped a giant bow, his right hand drawing the bowstring taut, pulling the giant bow full circle. Above high in the sky were ten huge Golden Crows, dazzling like the Great Sun.

In the second carving, a sharp Arrow trailed with long tail feathers streaked across the sky, piercing through the chest of the first Golden Crow on the left. Golden blood poured down like a waterfall. When it hit the ground, it caused a series of shocking deep pits.

The third carving...

Lie Mountain watched with delight and a vague idea began to take shape in his mind.

He walked out of the grand hall and went to the distant mountains outside the tribe to find some hard rocks, then he took out some animal sinews used for sewing Beast Skin Clothing.

Lie Mountain carved out a slightly smaller bow according to the shape of the giant bow in the carvings, and then picked a resilient animal sinew to tie onto the bow body as the bowstring.

Lie Mountain casually picked up a long Stone Arrow and placed it on the bowstring, his right hand pulling the bow into a full circle, then gently released it.

Carrying immense force, the heavy Stone Arrow shot straight towards a distant tree trunk the moment Lie Mountain released his hold.

"Whoosh!"

The Stone Arrow, filled with an unrivaled force, embedded into the tree trunk almost in an instant, burying itself to the shaft.

Lie Mountain stepped forward excitedly to examine the Stone Arrow on the tree trunk closely, only to find that the front end of the Stone Arrow had been completely destroyed at some point.

"Ah, it seems that this Stone Bow still needs strengthening!" Lie Mountain’s brows knitted tightly, he touched the hole again where the Stone Arrow had pierced, then carried the Stone Bow back towards the Lie Mountain Tribe.

By the time he returned to the tribe, the sun had set behind the mountains. The tribe’s Hunting Team also carried torches, like a long Fire Dragon, majestically returning to the tribe.

The harvest this time was quite abundant, yet Lie Mountain discovered that many hunters still came back injured.

Lie Mountain called the leader of the Hunting Team aside into the grand council hall.

The leader of the Lie Mountain Tribe’s Hunting Team was an old hunter named Jiang Han, a rare individual among the Human Clan who had cultivated to the Refining Void and Merging Dao realm using Inheritance Battle Skills. Despite being over a hundred years old, he was still spirited and full of vitality.

Old Hunter Jiang stroked his short beard and said with a simple smile, "I wonder what matter has prompted the Clan Leader to summon this old man?"

Lie Mountain gave a slight smile and gestured for the old hunter to sit down on a wooden chair, saying, "Grandpa Han, Lie Mountain wanted to ask you, when our tribespeople go out hunting, what weapons do they mostly use?"

Jiang Han was startled, not expecting Lie Mountain to ask such a question. After pondering for a while, Jiang Han looked up and said, "Our Human Clan, through years of development, aside from the known weapons of stone knives, axes, hammers, swords, and clubs, also has large nets made from vines and some natural, hard wooden weapons."

Lie Mountain gave a faint smile upon hearing this and picked up the stone bow he had hurriedly fashioned in the morning, tossing it to old Hunter Jiang, saying, "Grandpa Han, do you recognize this thing?"

Jiang Han carefully caressed the stone bow in his hands, lightly pulling the bowstring with one hand, and said in confusion, "Clan Leader, this item looks familiar to me, as if I’ve seen it somewhere before. What is it used for?"

Lie Mountain took the stone bow from Jiang Han’s hands and teased with a smile, "Grandpa Han, is there something in the Human Clan that you don’t know about?"

Jiang Han cracked a smile and responded, "Our Human Clan has a population of more than a hundred million; how could I possibly know how to use everything? But my intuition tells me, this thing is a weapon!"

Without replying, Lie Mountain reached for a slender wooden stick from the table, strung it on the bow, released the arrow smoothly in one fluid motion.

The wooden stick, without any hesitation, pierced straight into the wall of the hall. Its trembling rear end buzzed with vibrations.

The old hunter’s body trembled a little. He hurriedly approached and examined the wooden stick stuck in the wall, saying, "What a sharp tool, indeed!"

"Grandpa Han, do you think if we use this on the hunt to kill wild beasts, we can reduce casualties among the villagers?" Lie Mountain placed the stone bow on the wooden table and asked.

"Certainly, it definitely can!" Jiang Han sat back down at the table, excitedly grabbing the stone bow and caressing it lovingly, "This should be a long-range attack weapon. If we had this earlier, how many members of our Human Clan could have been saved!"

"Very well, we will mass-produce them, and equip each hunter in the tribe with a bow!" Lie Mountain instantly made the decision.

"But, Clan Leader..." At this point, Jiang Han hesitated slightly and said, "Clan Leader, although the members of the Hunting Team have all been practicing Inheritance Battle Skills, their talents are limited after all, and their overall Cultivation is not very high. This stone bow is good, but it’s too heavy, holding it for a long period is exhausting. Do you think we can substitute this heavy stone with some other material?"

Lie Mountain was momentarily taken aback, then lowered his head to ponder for a while, saying, "Grandpa Han, do you think it would work to replace the bow body with wood or bamboo?"

"It might work, but whether it truly will needs to be tested to be sure!" Jiang Han said after pondering for a long while.

"Alright, we’ll do as Grandpa Han suggests!" Lie Mountain did not care for these details; he wanted results. As long as the results were good, the details were of no concern to him.

"Well then, I shall take my leave!" Jiang Han picked up the stone bow, and, brimming with excitement, exited the grand council hall and headed straight out of the tribe.

Lie Mountain walked out of the grand council hall at a leisurely pace, and as he looked at the night sky filled with moonlight, where the tribespeople were dancing around a massive bonfire, he suddenly felt a peace emanating from the depths of his heart.

However, he would not know that far away on the East Sea Penglai Island, there were always eyes watching him, hopeful and gratified Divine Light piercing through layers of space, casting down a silver glow.
