Chapter 667: Chapter 667: Take it Slow (3)_1
At first, those four things I sowed so casually... now, well, everything planted in those four plots has had a huge harvest.
Yang Ruxin didn’t know how to describe it, but the bottom line is that everything had yielded abundantly.
The pear core she planted at first had now grown into an enormous pear tree, laden with yellow, ripe pears.
The handful of wheat seeds from earlier had now become a field of golden wheat, the heavy heads bending the stalks.
The single ginseng root she planted earlier was now a patch of ginseng; though she couldn’t see the situation underground, the leaves and flowers above were enough to tell her that they must be thriving.
The single radish she had planted was now, judging from the greens on the surface, likely a hundred radishes below...
She pulled out a radish; indeed, it was bigger than the one she had used as seed. It looked juicy and when she cut it with a knife and took a bite, it was satisfyingly crisp and sweet.
Which is to say, the growth rate inside the space was who knows how many times faster than outside, and the soil had even improved the crops.
Only now, after her initial excitement, Yang Ruxin was somewhat worried. How was she going to harvest all these things? Especially the wheat, which even if she used a sickle to cut, the threshing would still be troublesome. What to do?
And those pears, the tree is so tall, how could she possibly pluck them all?
If only she could harvest them with just a thought.
Unfortunately, no matter how much she willed it, the crops wouldn’t budge. In the end, Yang Ruxin resigned herself to the fact that she would need to prepare tools and then come in to harvest. Doing it alone, she had no idea how long it would take. But there was no rush; she decided to take it slow.
Before heading out, Yang Ruxin pulled up two ginseng roots, without any tools, and just yanked them out by their foliage. Surprisingly, the soil was quite loose and the roots came out intact. She planned to give one of the roots to the old man Dao Xuzi and the other she would take to the Fang Family. Even though she thought that a few embroidery items would suffice as gifts, one can’t guard against those who look down on others. If the situation arose, she would use the ginseng to make her point.
Just now, she had appraised it in the space, confirming it was genuine Wild Ginseng, with an age of one hundred and twenty years. It was a rarity, worth its weight in gold. A Hundred-Year Wild Ginseng like that was something families would treasure as a heirloom.
The next morning after breakfast, Yang Ruxin carelessly wrapped the Wild Ginseng in a piece of cotton cloth and tossed it to Dao Xuzi, then called everyone to grab their things and head outside. Uncle Luo’s donkey cart was already waiting for them.
She hadn’t asked Fang Tianze to send someone to pick them up because there were many of them and, besides, if the Fang Family sent someone, that would mean they were expected to stay at the Fang Residence, and she didn’t wish to stay at someone else’s home.
"Ahhh..." Dao Xuzi suddenly let out a series of exclamations, then seized Yang Ruxin, "Where did you get that ginseng from?"
"Why do you care where I got it from? Isn’t it enough to know that I’m offering it to you as a gesture of filial respect?" Yang Ruxin said with a smile, "Well? Does it meet your standards?"
"Genuine Hundred-Year Wild Ginseng, and so well preserved..." Dao Xuzi gasped in awe before suddenly becoming composed, sizing up Yang Ruxin from head to toe, then bursting into laughter, "You truly don’t disappoint as an old man’s disciple, gutsy enough for my liking. Such a treasure given away so nonchalantly, it’s clear you don’t attach much importance to it."
"That’s right," Yang Ruxin said proudly, nodding her head, "You can eat it without any hesitation, and when it’s finished, I’ll give you more." She had hundreds of roots in her space, more than she could ever eat.
