Guan Tongshi’s expression immediately soured, and her gaze towards Yang Ruxin sharpened. How could her wonderful son possibly have anything to do with a village girl?

Yang Ruxin, with a smile that was not quite a smile, looked at Guan Danian: "You see why your darling daughter got beaten up, right? Your son is supposed to become an official, yet his sister can’t stop spouting ’slut.’ Tsk, tsk, if word of this gets out..."

"Shut up!" Guan Danian snapped at Guan Qingyue. "Get inside."

"Dad..." Guan Qingyue looked at Guan Danian in disbelief. "I’m your daughter, and she hit me. Why are you yelling at me?"

"If you don’t obey, we might as well find you a husband right away," Guan Danian said with an unquestionable tone.

Guan Qingyue’s face was instantly stricken with terror, covering her face and opening her mouth wide without knowing how to react.

Although Guan Tongshi initially wanted to defend her daughter, she knew better. Although Guan Danian usually indulged her, she had been with him for many years and knew him well. If he was truly angry, any word from her would only make things worse. Now, she knew he was genuinely angered and thus dared not speak, only managing to push her daughter slightly.

However, his concern was that his son seemed even more interested in this girl now, like a moment ago when he heard Yang Dani’s name and ran faster than anyone else. He couldn’t risk his daughter provoking Yang Dani any further—what if she started clinging to his son again?

It must be said, Guan Danian was overthinking a bit.

"Dad, I need to talk to Dani," said Guan Qingshu, shaking his head.

"What’s there to talk about?" objected Guan Tongshi. "She’s just a..." She was about to insult her but remembering Yang Ruxin’s words, she swallowed the rest of her sentence. "You better stay away from such people..."

"Mom, I’m just going to say a few words to her," Guan Qingshu replied, frowning.

Seeing his son’s expression, Guan Danian sighed, then pulled his wife into the courtyard.
