Chapter 1205: Chapter 1205: Sending You Back (2)

"You..." The Dong Family was frightened, "What are you going to do? Don’t mess around, or I’ll call for help..."

"What are we going to do?" The old woman sneered, "We’re going to deal with the vixen. She dared to seduce my master? She doesn’t even look at what she’s worth." With a wave of her hand, she commanded, "Beat her, just don’t kill her..."

Several women charged at her with sticks in their hands.

Dong Hongmei tried to run but was grabbed by the hair from behind and dragged back. She was thrown to the ground, and the sticks showed no mercy as they fell upon her.

Dong Hongmei screamed in pain, but someone promptly stuffed something into her mouth to silence her, and then the sound of sticks hitting flesh was all that could be heard.

Yang Ruxin paused in her steps, and after a moment of surprise, she couldn’t help but sigh. This was probably orchestrated by the wife of the nouveau riche who Dong Hongmei had tangled with. She had sensed that the plump woman by the riverbank was not to be trifled with; indeed, she was formidable.

Look, now she’s probably gone back to frolic with her husband, while here, someone has been sent to beat the provocative vixen. If the beating was severe enough, she might not be able to seduce anyone for a good while.

This was the consequence of not acting foolishly by the riverbank just now—losing both the madam and the troops.

However, Yang Ruxin didn’t agree with such actions. Why should women make it hard on each other? Ultimately, it’s the man’s fault. If the man kept himself straight, no woman would have a chance, yes, just like her man.

Du Man and Du Juan both looked at Yang Ruxin, their expressions inquiring whether they should intervene.

Truth be told, Yang Ruxin felt conflicted. Dong Hongmei deserved a beating, but should she really stand by and watch her get crippled? It seemed a bit hard on her conscience...

While she pondered, to her surprise, the previously departed Wu Da had returned, "What are you doing? Stop it or I’ll call for help..."

When the old woman saw a stranger had appeared, she didn’t linger in battle. She called out and led her group away swiftly.

"You..." Wu Da looked at the woman lying on the ground, a pitiable sight, feeling torn, "How are you?"

Dong Hongmei suddenly burst into a torrent of tears.

Fortunately, the place was remote and everyone had gone to the lantern festival, so in spite of all the commotion, it didn’t disturb any bystanders.

"Alright, I’ll take you home," Wu Da sighed and bent down to help her up, "Can you walk?"

Dong Hongmei took a step and cried out in pain, nearly collapsing. Thankfully, Wu Da quickly caught her and then squatted down, "I’ll take you home."

Crying, Dong Hongmei got onto Wu Da’s back, and was carried away by him.

"It seems that Wu Da really does harbor feelings for this Dong Family member," Du Man smacked his lips, "If she would just value him properly, she could actually have a good life..."

Yang Ruxin was noncommittal. The saying ’you reap what you sow’ was indeed true; now it was up to Dong Hongmei to decide whether she wanted to live or die.

"Perhaps after tonight, their old flame might be rekindled," Du Juan sighed.

"Do any of you have an interest in what they’ll do once they return to their quarters?" Yang Ruxin glanced at the two.

After exchanging a glance, Du Man and Du Juan shook their heads in unison; even if they were interested, they wouldn’t dare admit it.

"Just now I was thinking, if you were interested, we could have gone and eavesdropped around the corner. Since you’re not, let’s go back to sleep," Yang Ruxin said, turning to leave.
