Chapter 976: Chapter 976: The Strike from Behind

"These bones are too hard, aren’t they?"

"They can actually withstand the impact of a Hollow Void Practitioner’s magical treasure!"

"Dark red?"

"Could it be because they were stained with Immortal’s Blood?"

A group of Hollow Void Practitioners forcefully broke through the undead that surged like waves and then rushed into a rather large cave, disappearing into it.

The undead chased them frantically, but when they entered a certain distance into the cave entrance, they stopped pursuing.

This scene set off a flurry of discussion among the spectators.

"It seems their task is merely to guard the area around this mountain body, and not to let anyone approach."

"They don’t care once someone enters the cave; is it because their orders are such, or is there something inside the cave that induces subconscious fear in them?"

"We are so far away, they won’t attack us, will they?"

Having seen the might of these undead, everyone started getting apprehensive.

Just because these undead couldn’t overcome a large group of Hollow Void Practitioners wielding various Spiritual Treasures and Magic Artifacts, doesn’t mean they couldn’t overcome them, does it?

They could withstand the impact of a magical treasure from a Hollow Void Practitioner at the Great Perfection stage, but among the Cultivators present, who could withstand it?

After watching for a while and noticing that the undead just guarded the hilltop without leaving or attacking the crowd, everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Time passed by, and there was still no sign from the strong practitioners who had entered the cave as if they had vanished into thin air.

Suddenly, everyone started to worry.

"It’s been half a day, why isn’t there any movement?"

"The mountain is big, but how big can the belly of the mountain be? Isn’t half a day enough to investigate thoroughly? Could there have been an incident?"

"All four Guards are inside. Could it be they set up traps and trapped everyone inside?"

Just as the crowd was abuzz with talk, a loud boom suddenly came from the Crimson Hill, and a streak of Blood Light soared into the sky, piercing the Heavenly Dome.

Without sound or warning, the Blood Light burst suddenly, turning into a faint Blood Mist that enveloped tens of miles in all directions.

This abrupt change alerted everyone.

"What is this?"

"What happened?"

"Blood Mist!"

After the violent tremor of the Crimson Hill, it quieted down, just as before.

The ghost flames dancing in the eyes of all undead on the hill flared up significantly, and the previously calm and prostrate creatures suddenly became agitated, with many of the undead already moving towards the crowd.

"They’re coming!"

"Should we retreat a distance?"

"Quick, retreat! We can’t kill these guys!"

As everyone was speaking in panic, preparing to retreat, someone suddenly screamed in terror.

"Demonic Beasts! There are so many Demonic Beasts!"

Carson Flores was startled and turned to look, feeling a chill in his heart.

The skies in all four directions were already filled with countless Demonic Beasts, surging towards the Crimson Hill at a breakneck pace like tides.

"We’re surrounded!"

Carson Flores felt his scalp tingle as he suddenly understood.

The explosion of Blood Light from just now might have been a temptation to the Demonic Beasts, or perhaps, the emergence of the Blood Light itself was a command!

The Demonic Beasts swarmed in overwhelming numbers, as if all the beasts of the Valley of Death had come.

Among the horde, there were Great Demons as large as small hills that sent a chill through everyone’s hearts.

Great Demon!

So many Great Demons!

Although it was not clear who had released that streak of Blood Light, it was obvious that their goal was to ensnare all the Cultivators waiting outside in one fell swoop!

"What do we do!"

"Run!"

"There’s no escape!"

In the crowd, the sounds of terror rose one after another.

Although there were still quite a few Hollow Void Practitioners remaining outside, they suddenly seemed insignificant in the face of such an overwhelming onslaught of frenzied Monster Beast Horde.

In front was a dense mass of blood-red skeletal undead, outside was the ever-tightening circle of Demonic Beasts. Carson Flores was about to attempt a breakout when his gaze suddenly swept across the many holes atop the blood-red hill.

Carson Flores had an idea and shouted loudly, "Don’t run outside, we can’t break through! Run inside, to the caves! Those undead dare not enter the caves, and these Demonic Beasts might not dare to either. Even if they do, defending inside the caves will prevent being surrounded on all sides!"

Carson Flores’s words immediately gave the panicked crowd a glimmer of hope for survival. Everyone quickly turned around, led by the Hollow Void Practitioners, and rushed toward the approaching tidal wave of undead.

Though the wave of undead was vast, all they needed to do was break through and enter the caves; if they headed outside instead, they would face an endless tide of Demonic Beasts from which there was no escape!

The Hollow Void Practitioners brought out powerful magical treasures to lead the way; though the undead were formidable, they were forcefully pushed back, creating a path to the cave that the many powerful beings had entered before.

The undead, swarming like locusts, came at them, and all Cultivators brought out their Magic Artifacts, attacking the undead that drew near as they moved quickly.

Carson Flores wielded the Three Provinces Sword, with Sword Light as white as snow, scattering speckles of light that struck several approaching undead and sent them flying away.

In the crowd, Liam Malone caught sight of Carson Flores standing at the edge, and a malicious glint flashed in his eyes.

He commanded his Magic Artifact, the Wind-Thunder Whip, to fly up, forcibly striking down several approaching undead. The Wind-Thunder Whip rebounded and suddenly strayed from its intended course, as if out of control, and quietly smashed into Carson Flores’s back from behind.
