Chapter 943: Chapter 943: No One Has It Easy
"Since the Array Plate is used, doesn’t that mean activating the Formation is very simple?"
Molly Greer replied, "Yes, but even so, the activation of a Formation always requires some time. We’re not far from the city center, and once the Ten Thousand Spirits Blood Array is initiated, there will be strong signs. Although the time won’t be too long, it’s enough for Cultivators to counterattack."
Carson Flores suddenly understood, "No wonder they wanted to enter the city first, to kill the strongest City Lord and his Guards. They feared that when they cast the Formation, the City Lord would notice and retaliate..."
"That’s the idea!"
Molly Greer looked around and said, "Mr. Flores, if you are not in a hurry, let’s go to Sword Qi City first and then see if there is any news."
"Okay!"
Carson Flores agreed with a single word, his gaze falling on the distant city: "The bones in the city..."
Molly Greer said in a deep voice, "I will send a team of Cultivators to collect all the bones and bury them together in one place."
Carson Flores nodded, "Good!"
Just as everyone was about to turn and leave, Gracie Moses, who was perched on Carson Flores’s shoulder, suddenly darted out and went straight into the trees nearby, picking up a sparkling object from the bushes.
Carson Flores’s heart stirred, he called out, "Gracie, come here!"
Gracie Moses turned back and promptly placed the shiny object in Carson Flores’s palm.
It was a crystal button.
The button was exquisitely made, with a Formation emitting white light inside the crystal, and within the Formation, blood essence was spreading.
Molly Greer leaned in to take a look and exclaimed, "A Sect badge!"
Seeing Carson Flores’s slight confusion, Molly Greer explained, "Sects usually define standardized attire, such as uniforms. They will embroider the Sect’s badge on the chest, or for some, on the collars of finely crafted buttons with engraved patterns."
"This button is well-crafted, and under normal circumstances, the pattern on the button would be the Sect’s badge. Of course, it’s not out of the question for someone to frame others, leaving belongings that uniquely belong to others at the crime scene, is also a common tactic in the Cultivation Realm."
Carson Flores nodded, "Regardless, we should look into it."
Molly Greer stated gravely, "We will certainly investigate. Since there’s a badge, whether it belongs to the real culprit or someone framing others, we can find out. At the very least, we have one more clue to follow."
Carson Flores turned to Gracie Moses and stretched out his hand to pat its head.
"Well done, I’ll reward you with a bag of snacks."
Gracie Moses chirped softly and nuzzled Carson Flores’s head.
The group headed for Sword Qi City and settled in Tristan Acedvedo’s City Lord’s Mansion.
Molly Greer took charge of Sword Qi City and dispatched many elite members from the Sect to investigate.
Gathering information took time. Carson Flores was not in a hurry. After all, he had just finished a meditation retreat of more than half a year and was a bit tired, so he considered it a chance to relax and take a stroll.
During a bottleneck, walking around and seeking inspiration might suddenly bring the feeling, perhaps touch the threshold of that door.
Carson Flores was lying on the roof of the City Lord’s Mansion when Killian Jaramillo appeared beside him.
"What are you looking at?"
Carson Flores turned his head and saw Killian Jaramillo, dressed in white like a Fairy, and smiled, "Just spacing out... Sit."
Killian Jaramillo saw the reclining chair Carson Flores put out and couldn’t help but laugh, "Do you always carry a recliner with you?"
Carson Flores laughed, "In the Mortal Realm, ordinary people go to work every day, earn money, and support their families. When they return home, the greatest pleasure is to lie down. Only when lying down is a person truly their own."
Killian Jaramillo sat down in the chair and leaned back like Carson Flores, casually asking, "Then who are you when you’re standing?"
Carson Flores answered, "You belong to your wife or husband, to your parents, to your children; in short, not to yourself."
Killian Jaramillo paused for a moment, then said softly after a while, "The ordinary people of our Barbaric Wilderness Realm are pretty much the same, with most people striving for the sake of living..."
Carson Flores laughed, "Although Cultivators have no worries about food and clothing, if you think about it, it’s quite similar. Without Cultivation Resources, one has to go out into the dangerous wilds and strive. One misstep, and you could lose your life. Even powerhouses of the Hollow Void Realm start worrying about not being able to ascend to Immortality..."
Killian Jaramillo laughed, "According to you, it seems like nobody has it easy, no matter who."
Carson Flores laughed, "It’s just that after seeing four hundred thousand people refined in the city, a lot of thoughts are running through my mind. But thinking so much is useless. In the Barbarian Wilderness, whether ordinary people or Cultivators, who can confidently say they will definitely live till tomorrow?"
Killian Jaramillo nodded, "Compared to that, the Mortal Realm, though ordinary, might not be any worse than the Barbarian Wilderness."
Carson Flores chuckled, "But the longest living people in the Mortal Realm don’t live past a hundred years, and most just around seventy; the Barbarian Wilderness lacks in many aspects, but it has longevity."
Killian Jaramillo suddenly asked, "If you find out who was responsible, what will you do?"
Carson Flores was silent for a few seconds, then slowly said, "An eye for an eye, blood for blood. If I can kill them, I will do it. If I can’t, I’ll ask my fellow brothers and sisters to do it. Four hundred thousand lives, four hundred thousand innocent souls, they all need an explanation!"
