Chapter 923: Chapter 923: Why Aren’t You Chasing Anymore?
Carson Flores cleanly leaped up from the ground, and despite the solid fall, he was not injured at all.
His bones were harder than steel!
He circulated Spiritual Energy, but discovered that an invisible force was restraining the Spiritual Energy. The Spiritual Energy was still there, but he was unable to use it.
What was going on?
Unable to use Spiritual Energy, wasn’t he completely screwed?
Carson instinctively looked back and was surprised to find the woman in white floating far away in the air, not approaching, and with a serious expression on her face.
She didn’t follow him inside!
As Carson breathed a sigh of relief, new worries emerged within him. What kind of place was this that could make someone like her, a True Dragon, so cautious and reluctant to come near?
Had he just escaped the tiger’s mouth, only to fall into a wolf’s den?
Under a new danger?
Carson didn’t rush into the palace but instead looked up at the woman in white and shouted, "Weren’t you chasing me relentlessly like a vengeful ghost, why did you suddenly stop?"
The woman in white’s gaze fell on Carson, fierce, "You’re just lucky, stumbling upon the Forbidden Spirit Palace, but this doesn’t mean you’ve escaped!"
Forbidden Spirit Palace?
Curious, Carson asked, "Judging by your expression, you seem very surprised. You’ve lived here for thousands of years, shouldn’t you be familiar with this palace? Why the astonishment?"
The woman in white said coldly, "There is a Formation surrounding this palace, which only appears at specific times, and the location of its appearance is random. I’ve heard of its existence, but this is the first time I’ve encountered it."
Specific times, random appearances?
She had lived here for so long and never seen it, but he had stumbled upon it?
Was his luck that good?
Carson asked indirectly, "Being such a rare sight, don’t you want to come in and have a look?"
The woman in white stared coldly at Carson, "Forbidden Spirit Palace forbids any flow of Spiritual Power, even magical treasures are just useless iron inside, and it is said that the master of the Forbidden Spirit Palace is an extremely powerful and fierce Spirit Devouring Beast. You might not necessarily be much safer inside than being chased by me!"
Spirit Devouring Beast?
Carson’s heart tightened, and he instinctively looked back at the palace gate.
The gate was eerily quiet, with no signs of movement.
The entire palace also lacked any protective barrier; it seemed totally undefended, as if one could enter or leave at any time.
"What does a Spirit Devouring Beast look like? Aren’t you a True Dragon, are you afraid of a Spirit Devouring Beast?"
The woman in white naturally knew that Carson was provoking her, trying to rile her, yet she did not take the bait.
"I haven’t seen it, nor have I heard anyone describe what it looks like. It is precisely because I haven’t seen it that being a bit more cautious doesn’t hurt," she said.
Carson sat down cleanly on the ground and chuckled, "It’s good to be cautious. Since you said so, then I won’t go in either. I’ll just rest here and recuperate."
He casually brought out food and began to eat, also taking several pills to help his body recover faster.
The woman in white watched Carson’s arrogant behavior, her gaze ablaze with fury, her teeth itching with irritation.
She had been doggedly chasing Carson for over ten days, without a moment of rest, wanting to exhaustively and decisively kill him, especially since she was well aware that once the Secret Realm time ended, Carson would be teleported out, and she would miss her chance to kill him.
Yet now Carson was right before her eyes, eating and drinking to his heart’s content, and she could only watch helplessly, which enraged her to no end.
Seeing Carson’s stance made it clear he had no intention of entering the palace; he seemingly planned to waste time at the gates of the palace until the Secret Realm time was up.
She descended from the air to the ground and began to rest, sitting cross-legged while also observing the palace.
The two sat in silence, one near, one far, when Carson spoke up, "Since we’re idle, let’s have a chat. How should I address you?"
The woman in white said coldly, "When you die, I will tell you."
Carson chuckled, "You won’t say? That’s fine. Hey, the one with the big chest, your sister said that there was an Immortal who wanted her to be his mount and pull his chariot, but she wouldn’t agree. She destroyed his residence, and upon his return, the Immortal killed her and suppressed her Primordial Spirit here to suffer. Is that what happened?"
The woman in white’s face grew colder. What did he mean by ’the one with the big chest’? Was this brat seeking death?
However, she thought a second more and realized that once she caught him, he was surely doomed. He was like a pig not afraid of boiling water; no matter how fierce her threats, they couldn’t intimidate him.
The woman in white gritted her teeth, "Elsie Matthews, keep it up, and I’ll tear out your tongue."
Carson replied with a smile, "That’s the way. The best way for humans to resolve conflicts is through communication. If you’re willing to talk, there’s always a way to solve problems."
Elsie Matthews sneered, "You killed my sister; I will certainly kill you. This is a cause and effect that must be resolved."
Carson spread his hands, "Cause and effect, cause and effect. There’s a cause for every effect. I killed your sister because she wanted to kill me. It was self-defense, so you can’t really blame me, can you? I can’t just lie down and let her kill me, can I?"
