Chapter 904: Chapter 904: Sacrificing Ten Thousand Demons, The Terrifying Great Formation
Beasts ran wildly; the entire True Dragon Secret Realm seemed like boiling water, churning tumultuously.
After rushing past a large horde of Demonic Beasts on the Ancient Battlefield, Carson Flores whispered, "Go, follow behind them."
Everyone sped extremely close to the ground, following the Demonic Beast Horde ahead of them, keeping a safe distance.
Even so, they would be discovered by Demonic Beasts that suddenly appeared in the sky or from who-knows-where, which then launched attacks at them.
If the Demonic Beasts were weak, they would be instantly vanquished; if the Demonic Beasts were strong or there were too many, Carson would sweep everyone into the Windroll Banner with a flick of his wrist, then use the Ground Shrinking Technique to quickly increase their distance before luring the enemy with the Cicada’s Mantle.
A masterstroke that worked wonders every time!
They flew rapidly, and that flight lasted for about ten days; during which they were twice targeted by powerful Great Demons that passed by and thrice besieged by vast numbers of Monster Beast Hordes—all narrowly escaped using Carson’s tactic.
As everyone rushed along with Carson in this way, their hearts were filled with excitement and agitation.
Carson’s set of skills for escaping was too strong.
With so many Demonic Beasts, if not for Carson, they themselves, despite their strength, might have already been crushed to death by the Demons.
Their confidence surged suddenly.
Perhaps, could there really be a reward, a journey filled with extreme thrills?
After that dragon’s roar, no other roar was heard, but those wildly running Demonic Beasts had pointed them in the right direction.
Carson and the others followed the Demonic Beasts in their frantic sprint, finally arriving at a large canyon.
The great canyon was at least a thousand meters wide, perfectly straight, spanning across the land, with its canyon walls smooth and precipitous, as if split down vertically by a colossal blade.
This made Carson wonder, could this canyon, just like the massive crack that ran across the White Jade Platform in the Valley of Death, also be a tear forcibly split open on the earth by a man-made strike?
What sort of terrifying power could create such a fearsome canyon?
Beneath the canyon was a thick white fog that obscured the view, making it impossible to judge just how deep the canyon was or what lay at the bottom.
Carson and the others witnessed a scene that was both shocking and horrifying.
Countless Demonic Beasts came sprinting frantically from the sky and the ground, then unhesitatingly leapt into the canyon, vanishing into the mist.
There was no dull thud of bodies hitting the ground, nor any flying Demonic Beasts emerging from the white fog; not even the sound of any Demonic Beasts’ cries could be heard—they disappeared just as if they were clay oxen sinking into the sea.
Without a trace, without a sound.
A colossal rhinoceros, as high as a hundred meters, trampled the land, shaking the ground as it charged forth.
It set its eyes on Carson and the others on a small mound atop the Heavenly Mountain, and its eyes instantly filled with fierce hatred.
Just as Carson and the others prepared to flee, it hesitated for a moment, then turned its head, charged towards the great canyon, and jumped in without a second thought.
This scene made everyone’s scalp tingle.
What exactly lay beneath the canyon to make so many Demonic Beasts follow one after another in such a manner?
Holden Simmons spoke in a low voice, "Could the corpse of the True Dragon be beneath this canyon?"
Everyone looked at the canyon shrouded in white mist with uneasy hearts.
Kash Lam responded softly, "Why do I feel like this is some sort of sacrificial ritual?"
Sacrifice?
A roar from the True Dragon Soul, all the Demonic Beasts follow in sacrifice to court death?
It did seem quite like it!
Lainey Dragon asked, "What do we do, should we go down and take a look?"
Terry said, "Let me try first; you all help me with the Formation."
Terry sat down cross-legged, with his pupils suddenly turning extremely dark. The center of his brow split silently open, and astonishingly, an eyeball flew out from within, seemingly alive, and headed straight into the white fog.
Carson curiously observed the slit on Terry’s forehead while Terry muttered softly, "This is the Unique Mastery of the Nine Hells Sect, Dark Insight, akin to a third eye. It can leave the body like the Primordial Spirit, can see through illusions, enchant the mind, and so on. He is using the Dark Insight to check out the situation beneath the white mist..."
Everyone waited in silence.
More and more Demonic Beasts appeared, charging into the canyon. Although some Demonic Beasts discovered them, at this point, plunging into the canyon seemed far more appealing, and so, for a while, everyone was actually safe.
After about ten minutes, Terry suddenly groaned, his complexion turning deathly pale, and blood flowed from the vertical slit between his brows.
Terry opened his eyes, which were filled with terror.
"What happened?"
Terry gasped for air, his hand pressed at the center of his forehead. After a long moment, he took his hand away and the slit on his forehead had disappeared, restored to being smooth and flat, but he looked noticeably drained.
Terry spoke softly, "Below the canyon, there is a massive blood-colored Formation. Most of the Demonic Beasts that leapt down headed straight for that Formation, were then immediately crushed by the Formation, turned into blood, and drawn into the Formation. It created a huge pool of blood. I wanted to get closer to take a look, but my Dark Insight was instantly shattered..."
"Blood sacrifice!"
Terry said solemnly, "This must be the doing of the True Dragon Soul; it’s absorbing the life force of these Demonic Beasts for its own use..."
