Chapter 899: Chapter 899: Where Is the Most Basic Trust Between People?

The Windroll Banner fluttered, revealing Kash Lam and the others.

As everyone landed, they immediately looked around with tense expressions. When they saw the relaxed and smiling Carson Flores, they all breathed a sigh of relief, knowing they were out of danger.

Kash Lam excitedly asked, "Did we shake them off?"

Carson Flores laughed, "Yes, fighting might not be my strong suit, but escaping sure is."

Lainey Dragon patted her chest, causing it to tremble, "You’re really amazing, how did you do it?"

Carson Flores explained the origin of the Cicada’s Mantle, "Gold Cicada Shedding—it’s quite effective."

Kenzo Conley praised, "Mr. White is a remarkable man, creating the Cicada Technique all by himself. With this item, our safety greatly increases."

Holden Simmons chuckled, "Indeed, if we can’t beat them, we can always run. The opponent won’t know this trick of yours. They’ll be deceived initially for sure, taken by surprise. As long as we grab that little bit of time, we can make our escape."

Kash Lam gave a thumbs up, "Carson Flores, you really are a leader I respect!"

Carson Flores smiled, "You all certainly have your own ways of saving yourselves, but I didn’t want our squad to be scattered as soon as we arrived. How would we face other difficulties together later on?"

Bennett Roth sighed, "That must have been a Great Demon just now, its size like a mountain. One slap from it, and we would probably all be dead."

Terry grimaced, "I definitely couldn’t withstand that. A single slap, and I’d likely not find a single intact bone in my body."

The group murmured in awe, and one of them asked, "Which way should we go next?"

Carson Flores smiled, "At the end of the day, everyone will be pushed out of the Secret Realm when time’s up. It doesn’t matter how deep we go. Let’s just fly in a random direction for now, try to find some distinctive peaks or other geographical features, and then decide."

"Okay!"

Kash Lam readily agreed, "You’re the captain, you pick the direction."

Carson Flores looked at the growth of the tree branches and leaves and finally pointed in a direction, "Let’s head east."

After the false alarm, the group set off again, but the trust in Carson Flores increased even more following this scare.

Under normal circumstances, in such a hostile environment, the only option for the captain would have been to let everyone scatter and flee. As for who would end up being chased by the Great Demon, whether they could escape, that would have been left to fate.

Yet, Carson Flores took the responsibility of fleeing upon himself and successfully led everyone to escape unscathed.

This was truly remarkable!

The giant tiger was no minor character; most likely a Great Demon comparable to the Hollow Void. Even Cultivators at the Divinity Transformation Stage wouldn’t dare say they could escape, yet Carson Flores at the Nascent Soul Early Stage managed to escape. That is real skill.

No wonder he could escape from the Crimson Dragon King...

The group continued on their journey aboard the Flying Boat, encountering other Cultivators along the way, who did not interact and even ran away directly upon seeing Carson Flores and his group.

Where is the basic trust between people?

That’s really exaggerated.

After flying for half the day, a massive peak blocked their path ahead.

The peak was incredibly high, soaring into the clouds, and had a peculiar shape, resembling a tree trunk with protruding peaks beside it, like branches growing on the main peak.

"Giant Tree Peak!"

Holden Simmons exclaimed with joy, "We’re in luck, there’s a large Ancient Battlefield nearby."

Carson Flores took out a map; he had already compiled maps from various factions into one. Although it still didn’t form a complete map of the True Dragon Secret Realm, more than half of the area had been "lit up."

Carson Flores found the location of Giant Tree Peak. Roughly, the group was in the southern area of the True Dragon Secret Realm. North of Giant Tree Peak was a vast expanse of the Ancient Battlefield area.

True Dragon Secret Realm, the Ancient Battlefields were numerous—some discovered, some not. Careful searching within the boundaries of these battlefields often yielded rewards.

"Since we have confirmed there’s an Ancient Battlefield, let’s take a look around."

The group passed Giant Tree Peak and headed north. Soon, the scenery below changed.

The lush green mountains began to turn barren, the soil turned a dark red, as if soaked in blood, the air filled with a faint scent of blood along with an intense, lingering aura of slaughter.

The ground was littered with broken bronze chariots, gigantic Demonic Beast skeletons as large as small hills, broken Flying Swords, Flying Boats, human bones...

The group stood in mid-air, gazing out into the desolate and grim landscape that stretched to the horizon, resembling a vast, limitless desert.

"How many must have died to create such a scene..."

"And this is just one of the less prominent Ancient Battlefields recorded on the map. Some of the discovered battlefields are said to be over ten times larger than this..."

Carson Flores led the group for several dozen kilometers, then landed on a mountaintop.

"It seems relatively safe here. Everyone, search the nearby area on your own. We’ll meet back here in half a day..."
