Chapter 889: Chapter 889: I quite liked him, just like that he’s gone?
Central Divine Continent, True Dragon Secret Realm.
Huge flying boats, one after another, moored on the wilderness; campsites sprouted across the wild lands, endlessly stretching into the horizon.
It was said that the True Dragon Secret Realm had two entrances, one in the Central Divine Continent and the other in the Easty Prefecture, within the territories of the Demon Race. This meant that, apart from the Human Cultivators who entered the Secret Realm, there were also elites from the Demon Race.
Inside the True Dragon Secret Realm, countless demonic beasts and hazards already existed. Coupled with the demon races that were hostile to the humans, the opening of the Secret Realm was always destined to be an extraordinarily bloody battle.
The True Dragon Secret Realm opened once every hundred years, only allowing Cultivators under the age of a hundred from the Human Race to enter. In other words, each Cultivator had only one chance in their lifetime to enter the True Dragon Secret Realm.
This was a journey of rare opportunity, as well as a voyage of carnage.
Battling the Demon Race, fighting other Cultivators, and slaying any opponent who tried to snatch the fortune that was rightfully yours – carving a path of opportunity through slaughter.
In a certain encampment, a fire was lit. Above it, a wild deer roasted, its fragrance wafting through the air.
Around the fire sat more than a dozen people from various major Sects like Kash Lam of the ancient Lam Family, Lainey Dragon of the Moonflower Sect, Kenzo Conley of the Taiyi Sect, Terry of the Demon Sun Sect, Ty Baker of the Ling Xu, Holden Simmons of the Jun Mountain, and others from the Netherworld Sect like Lifecloud.
Lifecloud from the Netherworld sect spoke with an eerie tone, "Everyone is aware of what happened just outside the Heavenly Mountain Cave in Nutwood, right? The Red Dragon Demon Dragon set a trap, killing several major figures including three Supreme Elders from sects and numerous Divinity Transformation Cultivators. Carson Flores happened to be there at the scene... The deadline of half a month is almost here, and Carson Flores is still nowhere to be found. Maybe he really is dead?"
Lainey Dragon of the Moonflower Sect asked with confusion, "I’ve heard about the incident, but what was he doing in Nutwood in the first place?"
Ty Baker of Ling Xu replied, "I’ve made some inquiries about this matter. It’s said that Carson Flores went to find a Disciple from the Heavenly Mountain Cave. This Disciple was also said to be from the Mortal Realm. She was practicing in the wilderness at the time, and Carson went to the wilds to find her. That’s when he stumbled upon the incident. After the Crimson Dragon Demon King slaughtered several major figures, he started hunting them down."
Kash Lam widened his eyes in disbelief and asked, "Was the Crimson Dragon Demon King so ruthless to even refuse to spare a few weak Disciples?"
Ty Baker answered, "The female Disciple that Carson was looking for was, like you and Lainey Dragon, a Five Elements Spiritual Body, specifically a Wood Spirit Body. However, her strength was only at the Foundation Establishment Great Perfection level. The Crimson Dragon Demon King, upon sensing her, naturally wanted to eliminate her immediately."
All present widened their eyes in shock.
Five Elements Spiritual Body!
Kash Lam smacked his lips with an expression of regret. "A Five Elements Spiritual Body... Was Heavenly Mountain Cave so careless? They dared to let her out for Foundation Establishment, weren’t they afraid she’d be killed?"
Ty Baker replied with a wry smile, "Heavenly Mountain specifically assigned a Divinity Transformation Stage Elder to protect her. Moreover, since they were treasure hunting, the Supreme Elder Ezequiel Randall was also on the wilds above. Besides, the wilderness wasn’t far from Heavenly Mountain; who would have thought something would go wrong in such a location?"
"Ezequiel Randall was burned alive by the Crimson Dragon King with the Flying Crane Divine Lotus Lamp. His Primordial Spirit fled underground, only to be crushed by a direct claw from the Crimson Dragon King. After the Crimson Dragon King caught up, he slapped the Elder to death."
"Carson Flores fled with the Wood Spirit Body girl, and the Crimson Dragon King pursued them. The others survived because of that. Since then, there’s been no news of Carson Flores or that Disciple from Heavenly Mountain."
Kash Lam sighed, "The power of the Crimson Dragon Demon King is astonishing. Three Hollow Void elders were no match for him, let alone Carson Flores and the others. A Golden Core and a Foundation Establishment... That’s pretty much a dead end. What a shame, I quite liked his character..."
Lainey Dragon’s expression was one of pity, "Indeed, when I performed the Sky Demon Dance, he was the only one who managed to stay completely sober. His strength may have been low, but he had character, daring to openly confront Bryant James – that’s not something just anyone would dare to do."
Terry from the Demon Sun Sect spread his hands, "The half-month deadline is nearly here, and he hasn’t arrived. It looks like he’s probably gone. What do we do now, choose a new leader?"
Kash Lam rolled his eyes, "What, you want to be the leader?"
Terry chuckled coldly, "I wouldn’t mind being the leader. Would you accept that?"
Kash Lam laughed heartily, "Of course I wouldn’t accept it. You’re no stronger than I am. Why should you lead? By that logic, I could say I’m capable of leading too."
Kenzo Conley of the Taiyi Sect frowned, "This time, the most elite disciples from all the states will inevitably unite. If we do not stand united, we will surely be wiped out by groups from other states or the Demon Race teams. The question then won’t be about how much we can gain, but whether we can survive at all."
All fell silent.
The logic was clear, but no one was willing to let someone else be the leader in their heart.
They had chosen Carson Flores because, firstly, his strength was low, so he had no ulterior motives and couldn’t stir up any trouble. Secondly, Nutwood Mountain had only a few people, with no significant Sect backing them; thus, there wasn’t much room for personal schemes.
As they were discussing, a huge flying boat was drawing near from the horizon.
Everyone turned to look, and upon glancing at the flag, Kash Lam smiled and said, "Rajevols from the far east has also arrived. It seems that almost everyone who should be here has arrived."
Lainey Dragon looked up and her expression suddenly became animated.
She stood up abruptly, her expression one of shock as she watched the approaching giant ship, observing the figures standing at the edge of the boat, and said in astonishment,
"Look, isn’t that... Carson Flores?"
