Chapter 880: Goodbye Shirley Miller
Chapter 880: Chapter 880: Goodbye Shirley Miller
Carson Flores was speaking from the heart, but his words were deliberate.
He wanted to throw cold water on the fervent enthusiasm these people had for achieving Immortal Ascension.
He feared that among these big shots, there were those with extreme personalities. Now that everyone was here, harboring their personal worries without voicing them, who knew if they would seek him out for trouble once they left, or even attempt a Soul Search to probe for the truth.
Observing that everyone’s emotions had cooled down, Carson finally let out a long sigh of relief.
He had been so cooperative, sharing his experiences and helping with analysis—hopefully, no one would trouble him now.
After that, there was nothing left for Carson to do. Even if more people arrived later, City Lord Zayn would convey the relevant matters, and no one would come to him again, because he had said all he could, clearly and thoroughly.
As for the Demon Race’s siege, the heavyweights naturally had to worry about it, and it had little to do with Carson, who was but a small fry.
On the fifth day, the Rajevols group finally arrived, with Shirley Miller among them!
While Carson Flores and Samantha Tate were chatting idly, they received the notice and, excited, left their residence to rush to the main hall.
At the entrance of the main hall, Samantha suddenly stopped, her face showing a trace of nervousness.
She didn’t know how to face her sister or if her sister would be angry...
Carson turned his head to look at Samantha, who bit her lip, then pushed Carson towards the entrance and hid herself to the side, feeling anxious.
Carson stood at the doorway, scanning the crowd in the hall and indeed, with delight, he spotted that familiar figure.
Shirley Miller!
She really had come!
Almost two years had passed, and he had finally seen her again.
Carson rushed to the entrance hastily, his sudden appearance catching the attention of many.
Shirley Miller casually looked back, her gaze naturally glancing toward the door, then she froze, her eyes suddenly brimming with joy.
In the hall, many watched, and Carson didn’t want to make too dramatic a scene. He could only raise his hand, wave to Shirley, and smile happily.
Shirley snapped back to reality and floated up, dashing out of the hall before plunging into Carson’s arms, holding him tightly.
This scene astonished everyone in the hall.
What was going on?
Who was this person?
The elders looked puzzled, and a tall, prideful man in the room had his face fall suddenly, his eyes growing cold.
Carson was moved by Shirley’s passionate embrace.
Despite her usual cool and calm demeanor, she was a woman with a fiery heart who loved and hated with courage. In front of so many people, she flung herself into his arms without any hesitation, showing how much she had wanted to see him.
"It’s not a dream, right? I said after leaving this time I would come to find you, yet here you are at my first stop..."
Carson asked with a smile, "Surprised or not?"
Shirley laughed with joy, "Of course, I’m surprised, so very surprised."
Carson smiled slightly and nodded toward the direction behind Shirley, "Turn around for another surprise."
Shirley turned her head and spotted Samantha, with her excited and yet somewhat conflicted and nervous gaze.
"Little Xixi!"
Shirley exclaimed with delight, darting out of Carson’s embrace and straight to Samantha, hugging her tightly.
"You’re here too! That’s great! This is really... this is so great!"
The nervousness in Samantha’s heart washed away with Shirley’s heartfelt joy. She hugged her sister tightly, calling out excitedly, "Sis, I’ve finally seen you!"
City Lord Zayn Rhodes introduced, "This is Carson Flores, the Direct Disciple of Master Campbell of Nutwood Mountain. If it weren’t for Carson’s intervention, Giant Wave City, including myself and everyone else, would have become the food of Demonic Beasts during the monster tide attack."
Everyone’s gaze landed on Carson with astonishment, their looks filled with confusion. How did such a young man save Giant Wave City from the monster tide?
Being the center of attention, Carson quickly bowed with a clasped fist, "Carson Flores of Nutwood Mountain, at your service."
These were the peers of his wife’s sect, so Carson behaved politely and with full propriety, to not cast any unwarranted suspicion upon Shirley.
A middle-aged beautiful woman surveyed the three and smiled, "You must be Shirley’s husband, from the Mortal Realm?"
Carson nodded, "Yes."
The woman appraised Carson from head to toe, "Good job. No wonder Shirley has been thinking about you non-stop, to the point of abandoning her inheritance and wanting to return to the Mortal Realm to bid you farewell. You also have skills to become the Direct Disciple of Master Campbell; each of his disciples is extraordinarily gifted..."
Carson modestly replied, "You flatter me, senior."
The woman smiled, "I am Sophia Roth, the Sect Master of the Xuan Feng Sect. Fairy Ling Feng is my junior sister, and I’m Shirley’s martial uncle..."
Carson blinked and dutifully greeted, "Martial Uncle, hello!"
Sophia Roth laughed, "No need for formal titles. My master, the Sect Master of Rajevols, and your master are peers. Calling me Martial Uncle might be taking advantage of you."
Carson chuckled and humbly changed his address, "Not at all, Sect Master Roth is being too humorous."
Sophia Roth smiled, "Speaking of which, I owe you my thanks. Without you, this city would have been no more, and many Rajevols disciples would have perished to the Demonic Beasts..."
