Chapter 874: Chapter 874: Inheritance is the Strongest
The old man with ram’s horns kept a vigilant watch, and nobody dared step out of the Aura Barrier to meet the challenge.
Who knows if he might spring a surprise attack at any moment?
They couldn’t even withstand a direct confrontation, let alone a sneak attack from him.
Carson Flores didn’t have much of a choice; after all, the enemy was too strong, and also extremely cautious. Trapping him was basically impossible.
After all, he already knew he possessed the Five Elements Essence, so he wouldn’t be caught off guard and fail to dodge.
Once he was prepared, given the difference in their strengths, the moment Carson made his move, the old man would have enough time to escape.
The Aura Cannons all converged their fire on the old man with ram’s horns, beginning their bombardment.
The old man was mighty, but he didn’t take the hits head-on; after all, those were city defense Aura Cannons, and their power was far from small.
Carson Flores watched the old man dodging in mid-air and called out, "You said before that for every one of your kind killed across the border, you’d slaughter three of our cities in retaliation, an eye for an eye. What’s this about? Was the order to massacre the cities given by the Demon Emperor Heir?"
The old man with ram’s horns replied coldly, "Your Human Race’s powerhouses have been pursuing the Demon Emperor Heir, from Misrds State to Central Divine Continent, and then to Easty Prefecture. Failing to catch him and out of fury, they slaughtered three thousand of our Demon Race kin, which included many of Divine Crocodile King’s descendants. Divine Crocodile King ordered me to enter Eastern Emperor Province and wipe out three cities as a warning. I have already destroyed two, and this is the third."
Carson Flores’s heart eased a bit—it was a relief that the order to massacre the cities was not issued by his father.
It wasn’t so much that Carson was a compassionate soul as he was concerned about his father Westin Flores’s situation. If Westin could bring himself to order the massacre of three human cities without leaving a single survivor, it would mean that his own will had been completely suppressed or merged by the Demon Emperor’s Will.
In other words, if that happened, Westin Flores was as good as dead!
Carson Flores turned his head and asked in a low voice, "City Lord, given our current situation, can the Spirit Stones hold out?"
Because of Carson’s recent act of saving lives, Zayn Rhodes was grateful and admiring of him. He answered without hesitation, "If he doesn’t attack personally and focuses all his firepower on the Aura Barrier, it will certainly hold. There should be no problem for a day or two."
"Since he has said that two cities have already been destroyed, that message must have already spread. Perhaps we won’t even need a full day before reinforcements will arrive. When it comes to dealing with the Demon Race, no one will hesitate."
Carson Flores breathed a slight sigh of relief, "Then let’s draw this out."
Zayn Rhodes thanked him politely, "Thank you, Mr. Flores, for your assistance. I was already prepared to die defending the city."
Carson Flores praised, "City Lord, you are truly a loyal and valiant person. Admirable!"
Zayn Rhodes laughed bitterly, "It’s not that I didn’t want to run; it’s just that there was no chance of escape. Who doesn’t want to live if they can? Since death is inevitable, might as well face it boldly."
After a pause, Zayn Rhodes added, "The old man is a Transformative Great Demon. If Mr. Flores also finds him too much to handle, just run when it comes to it. There’s no need to worry about us any longer. You killed so many Demonic Beasts comparable to those in the Divinity Transformation stage in one fell swoop; we’ve not suffered a loss."
Carson Flores smiled without responding and asked, "City Lord, I’d like to ask about someone from Rajevols..."
Zayn Rhodes inquired, "Who?"
Carson Flores looked into Zayn Rhodes’s eyes and said, "The Xuanfeng Sect, Shirley Miller, came from the Mortal Realm and inherited the powers of the Fairy Lingfeng..."
Zayn Rhodes nodded, "Of course I know her, I belong to the Xuanfeng Sect. She’s a descendant of the Fairy Lingfeng and has inherited her powers through a special bloodline inheritance method. It’s said she has already reached Divinity Transformation. She’s the most powerful among our sect’s younger generation disciples."
Divinity Transformation?
Carson Flores was shocked.
Indeed, inheritance is the most formidable advantage!
While others struggle their way to Rome, you’re born there!
Zayn Rhodes asked, "I’ve seen Shirley Miller a few times. Right, do you know her?"
Carson Flores smiled, "She’s my wife."
Zayn Rhodes’s eyes widened as he asked in shock, "You’re also from the Mortal Realm?"
Carson Flores nodded, "Yes, I have been here for less than two years, a bit later than her."
Zayn Rhodes was internally astounded; what an impressively powerful couple.
Coming from the Mortal Realm, in just a short period of two years, the wife entered Rajevols, inheriting ancestral powers, and rose directly to Divinity Transformation, while the husband became the direct disciple of Daxton Campbell, that monstrous talent, reaching the Nascent Soul Realm, Sword Bone Great Achievement!
Impressive!
Learning that Zayn Rhodes was from Xuanfeng Sect, Carson Flores felt that his decision to take action was the right one.
One of our own!
Zayn Rhodes whispered, "Now all we can do is drag this out. The longer we can hold on, the greater our chance of survival will be. The nearest to us is Holing Sanctuary, which is known as the number one small sanctuary. They are mighty. As long as they come to our rescue, we will be safe."
Carson Flores nodded, "Okay!"
Carson Flores sat cross-legged but kept his eyes fixed on the old man with ram’s horns in the sky.
He was well aware that he was the only one who might be able to stop him.
The opponent was cautious because he couldn’t gauge Carson’s abilities and didn’t dare to act rashly. This was an opportunity, but he wouldn’t remain inactive forever; a showdown was inevitable.
How could he possibly trap him?
