Chapter 844: Chapter 844: The Image of Someone Fills My Heart

Thunderfire Wasteland.

Carson Flores and Tobias Singleton flew according to the map, encountering several bands of cultivators along the way, all clearly there in search of divine items in the Thunderfire Wasteland.

Carson Flores was moderately interested in the divine items but not overly so. The sky-reaching radiance from the Tomb of the Demon Emperor had drawn hordes of people, resulting in an endeavor that ended with buckets drawn from an empty well, leaving casualties everywhere; Carson Flores had a deep impression of that.

The divine items that could emit such astonishing radiance were mostly Spiritual Treasures, and if they hadn’t generated an Artifact Spirit, it would’ve been okay, jeing mere lifeless objects of tremendous power. However, once an Artifact Spirit emerged, taming it would not be so easy.

The Ghost Tower that Delaney Hunter had mentioned was exactly one of those Spiritual Treasures with an Artifact Spirit. Standing tall between heaven and earth for so long, yet no one could subdue it. Instead, countless people perished within the Ghost Tower.

Finding Samantha Tate was his primary objective.

A divine item?

Leave it to fate.

As Carson Flores moved deeper into the Thunderfire Wasteland, Samantha Tate was engaged in battle.

Her opponent was a three-meter-tall Ironback Gorilla with muscles as hard as steel. A single blow from its fist could shatter a huge rock into smithereens.

Samantha Tate manipulated her Flying Sword, entangled in a fight with the adversary. The Flying Sword pierced the Ironback Gorilla’s skin, bringing forth a shower of blood, but the wound was not severe.

The Flying Sword couldn’t penetrate the body as tough as steel, instead enraging the Ironback Gorilla to launch a more ferocious attack on Samantha Tate, who immediately became somewhat flustered.

Standing beside the battlefield was a tall, handsome young man, none other than the leader of the third generation disciples, Jayceon Collins. He smiled as he instructed, "In battle, you can’t just brute force your way through, unless you have overwhelming power against your adversary, which allows you to shatter all methods with sheer force. But when the difference in strength is not substantial, you should probe with attacks, rapidly discover the opponent’s weak points, and identify the easiest way to defeat them."

"Ironback Gorillas are called ’Ironback’ because their backs, while being the broadest and appearing the easiest to attack, are in fact the hardest part of their body. Even a Flying Sword would hardly cause a fatal injury there. The soft spots on demonic beasts such as the abdomen, neck, underarms, and buttocks are often the softest. You need to find the attacking points, lure the adversary to reveal their vital parts, and then give it your all to bring them down."

Samantha Tate seemed to have an epiphany. Her Flying Sword danced even more urgently, but the frequency of hits decreased, repeatedly tricking the Ironback Gorilla into fruitless defenses.

Just as the Ironback Gorilla swung its fist and missed again, exposing its abdomen while twisting its body, the Flying Sword followed the momentum, grazing past its belly.

"Whoosh!"

A large wound appeared on the Ironback Gorilla’s stomach, spilling blood and some intestines. The Ironback Gorilla stumbled, exposing its neck.

The rapidly spinning Flying Sword penetrated through the gap below the exposed neck, then pierced out the other side.

"Boom!"

The massive body of the Ironback Gorilla collapsed to the ground.

Samantha Tate recalled her Flying Sword, her face slightly flushed with excitement, feeling more adept at battling.

She turned and courteously thanked, "Thank you for the guidance, Brother Jayceon."

With the grace of a gentleman, Jayceon Collins smiled and said, "Sister Samantha, your ability to grasp tactics is truly impressive. After only a few battles, you can now independently slay an Ironback Gorilla. That’s very commendable. It won’t take long before you surpass us!"

Humility in her voice, Samantha Tate responded, "You flatter me too much, Brother Jayceon. It’s all thanks to everyone’s guidance. Compared to you all, I still have a long way to go."

Jayceon Collins spoke with concern, "Tired, aren’t you? Take a break for a while, have something to eat, then we’ll move on... Brother Chen, you guys clean up the spoils of war."

"Okay!" Samantha Tate agreed.

She had no interest in the spoils of war since it was actually someone else’s kill presented to her.

She wasn’t lacking in cultivation resources; what she needed was combat experience.

Although Samantha Tate was now the disciple of the Enforcement Hall Master and the Cave Master’s granddisciple, held in high regard, her status elevated, she remained courteous and polite to everyone rather than being arrogant.

While she now had a master who treated her well, this nurturing came with expectations of a return; it felt quite different from kinship.

In this world, she was alone, a solitary figure.

She lived her life cautious and careful.

Jayceon Collins handed her a bottle of water, saying with a smile, "Have some water. This is a medicinal tea I made with Seven-leaf Fragrant Orchid Grass. It tastes good and can refresh and energize your mind..."

However, Samantha Tate didn’t take it and instead took out her own water bottle, smiling, "Thank you, Brother Jayceon, but I have my own water."

Samantha Tate had had little contact with Jayceon Collins before, and this was practically their first interaction. Seeing his obvious attentiveness put her on alert.

Her heart was filled with the image of Carson Flores; it had no room for nor did she wish to accommodate anyone else’s presence.

She would not give anyone a chance, nor did she want to create misunderstandings.

Jayceon Collins laughed, withdrew his hand, twisted open the cap, and started to drink. Deep in his eyes, however, a hint of coldness flickered through.

You might be really pretty, but if you weren’t a Wood Spirit Body, would I even give you a second glance?

Unappreciative!
