Chapter 820: Chapter 820: If I Slow Down Any More, She Will Die
The sun gradually set, finally sinking into the horizon.
Carson Flores’s heart also sank with it.
Could it be that even someone as formidable as the eldest apprentice brother couldn’t escape?
This matter was something he had encountered and brought back to Nutwood. In that case, was it he who had caused their misfortune?
Carson Flores was weighed down with worry.
Just as the last glow of the sunset was about to fade, a black dot suddenly appeared in the sky.
Carson Flores abruptly stood up, his heart pounding chaotically.
The black dot approached.
Dressed in green robes, moving like a wraith.
Eldest apprentice brother!
Benson Bernard held Delaney Hunter in his arms and in the blink of an eye, he was above Carson Flores before plummeting from the sky and crashing down in front of him.
Delaney Hunter was covered in blood. Benson Bernard’s face was pale, his brows tinged blue, and his eyes slightly unfocused. He mustered his strength to throw a Life Essence Pearl and a small jar towards Carson. The jar contained thick blood that lacked any stench but instead emitted a strong fragrance.
"Save her,"
Benson Bernard dropped the words and then sat down cross-legged. With a wave of his hand, a line of blood flew out of the jar and entered his mouth.
Carson Flores quickly laid Delaney Hunter flat, noticing that her entire skin was tinged blue and she had more than ten wounds. These injuries appeared to have been treated with the Life Essence Pearl, but they still looked horrifying and blood-drenched.
Had they encountered fierce Demonic Beasts?
Carson Flores couldn’t spare a moment to think further as he first pried open Delaney’s mouth, directed a thread of blood into her body, and then grabbed the Life Essence Pearl, pressing it against her wounds while frantically channeling Spiritual Energy.
The wounds on Delaney began to heal, but at a much slower pace than usual. Fortunately, despite being slow, they were healing.
A great amount of Spiritual Energy transformed into Life Force, infusing into Delaney’s body. As her wounds healed, the bluish tinge swiftly faded, finally settling into a light blue shade that then ceased to diminish.
Not enough blood?
Carson Flores administered more blood into Delaney, but the light blue shade persisted.
Carson Flores realized something: it seemed that the blood could not completely neutralize the poison; it only counteracted and removed most of the toxins. He was unsure about the extent of impact from the remaining toxins.
Delaney’s breathing steadied and a bit of color returned to her pale face, finally allowing Carson to breathe a sigh of relief.
About half an hour later, Benson Bernard, who was seated cross-legged, opened his eyes and let out a long breath.
Carson Flores asked with concern, "Eldest brother, how are you feeling?"
Benson Bernard replied, "I’ve managed to clear about seventy percent of the toxins from my body. The remaining can’t be cleared for now. Perhaps only a Spiritual Spring could completely remove the toxins."
Carson Flores asked, "What about now, do the toxins affect you much?"
Benson Bernard chuckled, "There’s some impact on my strength, probably down to about seventy percent of what it was. But thankfully, I’m not at death’s door yet."
Carson Flores let out a slight sigh of relief, "What did you guys encounter? Why is the elder sister so severely injured?"
Benson Bernard replied, "She was unlucky, encountered a Great Demon comparable to the Hollow Void Realm. The poison worsened during battle, and eventually, she was overwhelmed and gravely injured. She barely managed to hide using an Array Flag. If I had been any slower, she might have been dead."
"It’s thanks to the Life Essence Pearl you gave her. Hiding in the Formation, she used the Life Essence Pearl to treat her wounds and sustain her life, otherwise, her body wouldn’t have held on until I could rescue her."
"When I arrived, her poisoning was severe. I dared not delay and immediately scooped her up and fled. That Great Demon chased me for quite a distance, but thankfully I was fast enough. If it had caught up to us, perhaps neither of us would have made it back."
Carson Flores was shocked. A Great Demon comparable to Hollow Void, having an innate advantage of being unaffected by the severe poison—it would end in death for anyone tangled with it.
"What do we do now?"
"Let’s rest first, wait for her to wake up. Moreover, I want to observe whether the toxins will weaken over time after leaving Harmony Hollow."
"Alright!"
Benson Bernard continued to sit cross-legged, closely examining the internal condition of his body and observing the effects of the toxins, while Carson Flores stayed by Delaney’s side.
In the early morning hours, Delaney Hunter woke up, saw Carson Flores, and then Benson Bernard, and immediately felt relieved.
"Did we escape? Luckily, I nearly died in there."
Carson Flores asked, "How do you feel now?"
Delaney checked herself, "The residual poison hasn’t cleared, seems like it can’t be completely removed."
Carson Flores asked, "Did you find the Blissful Bird?"
Delaney nodded, "Found them, they reside on that huge tree that blocks the sky and sun. They were fairly easy to locate once we had the right direction, but I didn’t expect that there would be a Great Demon on that tree. I had just dispersed the Blissful Birds attacking me, killed one, and collected its clean blood, planning to capture another one alive, when that Great Demon suddenly attacked me. If not for my Sword Bone, I might have been torn in two right there..."
