Chapter 781: Chapter 781: You Call Me Auntie, It Shouldn’t Be for Nothing_1
Bryant James likes Adelaide Bautista?
A heaviness settled in Carson Flores’s heart. How had this romantic entanglement grown so complex?
His father liked his mother, Adelaide liked his father, Bryant liked Adelaide...
With one sentence from Marcellus Foster, Carson understood his concerns.
His father was Bryant’s rival in love, which made him the son of his rival. Now that he’d appeared before Bryant, was it normal for Bryant to take out some frustration on him?
"He likes Miss Adelaide, but does Miss Adelaide like him back?"
Marcellus answered in a low voice, "She doesn’t. That’s why I’m worried. Carson, you need to be careful."
Carson nodded, "Alright, thanks for the heads up. I’ll keep it in mind."
Marcellus warned, "If there’s nothing else you need to do, it’s best to leave early. Bryant is Kahdas’s son, the pride of Kahdas. He won’t fear your status as a Direct Disciple..."
Carson agreed. He had been spending time with his mother while waiting for the Dark Iron Raven Essence. Now that he had it, it was time for him to leave.
Marcellus asked, "The big competition in Misrds State is coming up soon. Will you be participating then?"
Carson smiled, "I don’t know yet. I have to go back to Nutwood and ask. But if possible, I’d like to go and see the world."
Marcellus nodded, "I’ll be going too. We can meet up there."
"Good!"
The next morning, Carson once again visited Adelaide’s domicile.
Before, Adelaide had told Carson to come by before leaving.
"Aunt Adelaide..."
The wards of the domicile opened, and Adelaide’s voice came from inside: "Come in."
Carson walked in and greeted the seated Adelaide: "Hello, Aunt Adelaide."
Adelaide nodded, her voice calm, "Ready to leave?"
Carson answered, "Yes."
Adelaide took something out of her Space Ring and tossed it to Carson: "You’ve called me aunt, so I shouldn’t let that be for nothing. This is the Ground Shrinking Technique, a secret technique from a long-lost Sect ruin that I found. It was their most guarded secret. Take it and devote yourself to its study. It can serve as an additional means to escape danger when needed."
Carson caught the item, which was slightly heavy in his hand. It was a bronze plate, engraved with intricate and ancient patterns.
"The bronze plate bears space-related Dao patterns. Study it yourself and use Spiritual Energy as a medium to inscribe these patterns. When you step on them, you will be able to shrink the ground beneath you. Once mastered, one step could take you over mountains and seas."
Carson was thrilled. This was indeed a valuable asset for escaping danger.
"Thank you, Aunt Adelaide."
Adelaide instructed, "You must study and learn this on your own. Do not share it with others to prevent inviting trouble."
"Alright."
Adelaide was silent for two seconds before speaking up, "Do you think your father is still alive?"
Carson calmly responded, "I’m not very clear on the exact circumstances back then, but from what I’ve learned, it doesn’t seem likely that he survived."
Adelaide sighed, "You’re unfortunate. It took twenty-eight years before you could come to Kahdas, and yet your father faced peril once more..."
Carson pondered before asking, "Aunt Adelaide, I once asked the Cave Master why Kahdas entered Harmony Hollow in the past. The Cave Master told me it was for exploration and trial, but I always felt that wasn’t the real answer..."
Adelaide nodded, "I was in the North Cold City at the time. When I returned, I asked around. According to what I heard, the Cave Master got information through certain channels that the Tomb of the Demon Emperor was in Harmony Hollow. Therefore, the Supreme Elder led a team of three hundred Disciples from the Sect into Harmony Hollow to search."
The Tomb of the Demon Emperor?
Carson was surprised. It seemed Joaquin Moses’s information wasn’t exclusive; Mount Kahdas had known about it for many years.
"Harmony Hollow is a forbidden land, isn’t it? Weren’t they afraid of running into trouble by going in there?"
Adelaide spoke dispassionately, "The secrets buried in the Tomb of the Demon Emperor are too numerous. For thousands of years, the world has sought the tomb. As long as there’s a hint of it, who would give up on that? If they could find the Demon Emperor’s tomb, not just three hundred, but thirty thousand would go without hesitation."
Carson gave a wry smile, "What was the result?"
Adelaide shook her head, "The Supreme Elder barely made it out alive, but upon returning, he was broken. Not a single one of the three hundred Kahdas Disciples survived Harmony Hollow; none escaped."
Curiosity filled Carson’s voice, "This Harmony Hollow is labeled as a forbidden land, but what exactly is the reason? Is it because of fierce mythical creatures inside?"
Adelaide nodded, "The mythical creatures are one aspect, but the real reason is poison. Once inside Harmony Hollow, one will be poisoned silently. Even if you stop breathing or close your pores, you cannot escape it. The deeper one goes, the worse the poisoning. Those affected will lose their ability to control Spiritual Energy and will also suffer corrosion of various body functions, becoming extremely weak, weaker even than an ordinary person."
Carson asked in astonishment, "Is this poison really so potent that in this vast world, there’s no way to avoid or counteract it?"
Adelaide answered calmly, "There’s a legend that at the deepest part of the forbidden land, by the Harmony Eye, there’s something that can cure the poison. But in Harmony Hollow, aside from the toxins, there are many powerful mythical creatures. Without your strength and with a body weaker than an ordinary person’s, how can one avoid the pursuit of these beasts and make it to the deepest part of the forbidden land?"
