Chapter 723: Chapter 723: You Don’t Seem Disappointed?_1

Zion Frost’s face was gloomy.

His mood was not just unattractive, it was depressed to the extreme.

As Carson Flores had said, they had come with overwhelming advantage, intending to take White Wave City in one fell swoop, but they were met with a significant setback.

The city was not taken, and they lost two Golden Core cultivators and two Nascent Souls were injured, among whom Gary James had lost an arm. In contrast, not a hair was harmed on the heads of the people of White Wave City.

Not only that, the scum in the city even had people come down to insult them.

On the first day of insults, everyone was filled with righteous indignation, and even the force of their siege increased, each swearing to make those people pay the price in blood and to show them the consequences of insulting themselves.

On the second day of insults, there was an awkward expression on everyone’s face.

By the third day of insults, people began to buckle.

Even with the thickest of skins, they couldn’t withstand such mockery—the relentless face slapping was unbearable, especially with no effective retort available.

Some who were provoked charged down only to be greeted by the Spirit Stone Cannons firing. If not for Zion Frost’s timely rescue, they might have been blasted to pieces.

After this incident, the cultivators of the Holy Fire Sect all fell silent, their morale dropping, their bombardment growing weak and listless.

After all, they knew they only had ten days.

In ten days’ time, Delaney Hunter would awaken, and once she did, taking White Wave City would be nearly impossible.

Given the situation, the enemy didn’t seem to be short on Spirit Stones as they had previously understood. Their actions were just burning through White Wave City’s Spirit Stones without any other effect.

So why bother?

Zion Frost was at a loss.

This was a city defense capable of withstanding a tide of beasts, not something he could breach on his own.

If only he had known, he wouldn’t have come over so arrogantly, but would have snuck into the city first before launching an attack. Once inside, who could stop him?

Zion Frost was full of regret.

Four days had already passed, the Aura Barrier had not budged, the enemy seemed to have endless Spirit Stones, and the insults from below continued unabated. Was there any way to break the Aura Barrier?

After much contemplation, Zion Frost finally made up his mind. He left alone, and before he departed, he ordered, "I’m going to look for a magical treasure capable of breaking the Aura Barrier. You maintain the distance and keep bombarding!"

Zion Frost left.

On the fifth day, Killian Jaramillo suddenly arrived.

Killian Jaramillo had stealthily entered the city in the middle of the night; she was, after all, a prized child of the Nutwood Heavenly Cave, recognized by all.

Carson Flores was sitting cross-legged on a certain platform when he received the message from Qing Ling. He was stunned.

"Killian Jaramillo is here? How many people?"

"Just her alone."

Carson Flores frowned. She alone—what was the Jaramillo Family playing at?

This place was certainly dangerous, and yet Killian Jaramillo had snuck directly into the city. Was she not afraid of bringing trouble upon herself?

Carson Flores descended from the platform and met Killian Jaramillo at the City Lord’s Mansion.

"Miss Jaramillo..."

Killian Jaramillo had obvious signs of fatigue on her face, but it did not detract from her ethereal presence.

Seeing Carson Flores, Killian Jaramillo showed a bright smile: "You’re really brave, choosing to hold out against Divinity Transformation leaders!"

Carson Flores smiled and said, "I’m just relying on the city’s Spirit Light Array, not planning on holding out stubbornly. If things get too tough, we’ll run. Where did you come from?"

Killian Jaramillo replied, "You sent a message to Return Sword City, and my family relayed it to me, so I rushed over... My father said it’s not convenient for the Jaramillo Family to send someone to intervene directly, and with the enemy being in the Divinity Transformation Stage, no one from the Jaramillo Family, except for our ancestor, could likely withstand Zion Frost."

Upon hearing this, Carson Flores immediately understood the implication.

You may have saved Killian Jaramillo and brought back Alex Austin’s remains, but relying on that to call the Jaramillo Family’s ancestor into action, obviously not. And others from the family, even if they came, would not be able to stop Zion Frost, so they did not send anyone.

Killian Jaramillo paused, seeing Carson Flores’s composed demeanor without a hint of disappointment, she felt a bit curious: "You don’t seem to be disappointed?"

Carson Flores smiled and asked, "How many Spirit Stones did you bring with you?"

Killian Jaramillo was taken aback, then pouted slightly: "How did you guess?"

Carson Flores laughed: "My letter was very clear, asking to borrow people or Spirit Stones. Since no one came, but you did, you must have brought Spirit Stones. Otherwise, did you come just to watch me get killed?"

Killian Jaramillo smiled: "Alright, you’re right. You also said in the letter that you weren’t prepared to have a fatal showdown with them since the strength was not at all equal. The only option was to rely on Spirit Stones to hold out until Cameron Hunter wakes up. What was missing were the Spirit Stones, so I brought them. Twenty Million Spirit Stones, I had to act suddenly and feared coming late, so I left in a hurry and couldn’t gather more in time."

Carson Flores’s eyes brightened slightly, and his mood relaxed significantly: "That’s enough, enough. This is truly sending charcoal in snowy weather..."
