Chapter 679: Chapter 679: This Guy is Really Annoying_1
"If we include the Nine-Leaf Ginseng, maybe we could afford one, but for the others, it would already be good to buy half a piece."
Killian Jaramillo’s gaze was subtle, tinged with a hidden trace of sympathy.
The Three-foot Sword Veil was indeed formidable, but the investment in cultivation resources was just too great!
As far as Killian Jaramillo knew, Delaney Hunter had been doing everything possible to earn Spirit Stones to buy Dark Iron Raven Essence along with other necessary cultivation resources; one could say she had left no stone unturned, resorting to all sorts of desperate measures.
She did not only do the usual like entering the Secret Realm to kill demon beasts or search for Spiritual Medicine, she also gambled Spirit Stones, dueled, borrowed Spirit Stones from the Cave Master and then defaulted on her debts, and so on, creating a situation where everyone dreaded encountering her. Even the Cave Master, who was very fond of her, would now feel a headache coming on at the sight of her, beset by the imminent sense of his wallet thinning.
Carson Flores, having joined from the mortal world, was a newcomer. Even though he had reached the Golden Core Initial Stage at a young age and was considered a great talent, he still lacked any background. How could he earn such an enormous amount of cultivation resources?
Although Delaney Hunter was formidable, she herself was buried under a mountain of bad debts. Just like a clay Bodhisattva crossing a river — hardly able to save herself — where would she find the resources to help her junior brother?
Aside from Delaney Hunter, Carson Flores could only rely on himself, but for him alone to gather the vast resources required to build a Sword Bone, that was practically a fool’s dream!
Even if he collected them bit by bit, how long would it eventually take to accumulate enough?
Two hundred years?
Five hundred years?
She already foresaw the disappointment that might appear on Carson Flores’s face. After all, each of these Spiritual Medicines was incredibly valuable, and to think that all put together could only buy one, or even half — could one not feel dejected pondering the road ahead?
Carson Flores smiled.
"If we don’t count the Nine-Leaf Ginseng, being able to buy half is pretty good."
Killian Jaramillo looked at the hearty, self-assured smile on Carson Flores’s face, her expression slightly dazed.
Could he really still manage to smile?
Had she not made herself clear enough?
Killian Jaramillo couldn’t help but remind him, "I won’t mention the dangers of entering the Secret Realm anymore, as this time we encountered a tree demon and almost died, which you experienced firsthand. What I mean to say is that your gains this time in the Secret Realm were because it had just undergone the ten-year Spirit Rhinoceros Storm, so there were many Spiritual Medicines. Once the first round of exploration by everyone is done, it will be much harder to find anything. It won’t be so easy and rewarding every time you enter."
Carson Flores smiled, "I know, and I’m aware it will get harder in the future. But as long as there is a price, there’s a way to manage, to accumulate gradually. It’s not unreachable. Besides, I’ve always been pretty lucky. No problem there."
Killian Jaramillo looked at Carson Flores for a few moments, then suddenly chuckled, "That’s true. As long as one lives striving, there will come a day when you’ll have gathered everything."
The tea was finished, and matters concerning the elixirs had also been settled. Carson Flores stood up to take his leave.
"It will take some time to refine the elixirs. I will send you a message when they’re ready."
"Okay!"
Killian Jaramillo escorted Carson Flores a long way off, waiting until he soared away on his sword and his figure disappeared at the base of the mountain before turning back to her house.
From the nearby woods emerged Francisco Smith on his sword, his handsome face ashen.
He was the son of the Deputy Sect Master of the Crane Sect and the most impressive cultivation talent among the younger disciples of Nutwood Heavenly Cave, with his special status. Additionally, his affection for Killian Jaramillo was well known throughout the Sect, which allowed him to visit her often without announcement, entering the Sect gates freely.
He came rushing to Killian Jaramillo filled with excitement, eager to tell her that he had received approval to join the upcoming Cultivation World Trade Association meeting and could travel there with her.
After calling out at Killian Jaramillo’s residence and getting no response, he inquired around only to find out that Carson Flores had arrived, and that Killian Jaramillo was accompanying Carson Flores around and should be back at her residence!
Even though both of them were right there at the residence, they ignored him!
Francisco Smith felt as if his head would explode!
The image of Carson Flores holding onto Killian Jaramillo’s waist and Killian Jaramillo, without any reservation, pressing her body close to him, all flooded back into his mind. Thinking about what the two of them might be doing within the sealed Formation of the residence, Francisco Smith’s eyes reddened with fury.
He hid, not far from Killian Jaramillo’s residence, and just waited.
Seeing Killian Jaramillo accompany Carson Flores a long distance, and watching his silhouette without drawing back her gaze, Francisco Smith’s jealousy raged like a wildfire, almost compelling him to rush forward and commit murder right there.
But he restrained himself!
He knew that if he burst out now, regardless of what he said or did to Carson Flores, it would only make Killian Jaramillo despise him more.
Once Killian Jaramillo returned inside the Formation, Francisco Smith took to the sky with his sword, chasing after Carson Flores, racing towards the bottom of the mountain.
Just after Carson Flores left the Thousand Swords Sect, Francisco Smith caught up from behind.
"Carson Flores!"
Turning his head to see Francisco Smith’s unfriendly expression, Carson Flores immediately realized that this guy must have been waiting outside the whole time, having seen him leave.
This guy, just like Killian Jaramillo described, was indeed a bit annoying!
