Chapter 638: Chapter 638 Isn’t Money Made to Be Spent?_1

Flying Waterfall Mountain Peak is known as a mountain peak, where the rear mountain houses the abodes of cultivators, and the front mountain is a residential and marketplace area.

All those who could be found on Flying Waterfall Mountain Peak were cultivators, even the chefs in the marketplace restaurants, the clerks in the shops, and so on; all were cultivators without exception. However, the vast majority of these people were at the Qi Cultivation Stage, which is the lowest level of cultivators.

All the inhabitants of the secret realm knew a most basic cultivation technique. If you possessed the talent for cultivation, then by following this basic method, you could become a cultivator.

Each year, some residents of the secret realm would become cultivators. They would then reside on Flying Waterfall Mountain Peak as well as several other mountains, practicing cultivation on their own.

Every five years, the Four Great Sects would select some disciples among them. Some were chosen as formal disciples due to their high talent, while others with mediocre talent were merely taken as service disciples. But even among the service disciples, only a small portion were chosen. The vast majority of cultivators had no chance to join the Four Great Sects.

Cultivators have to live, after all, they have to earn Spirit Stones. Hence, those with backgrounds and strength opened shops, while those without worked for others. Over time, this place became the largest marketplace for cultivators in the secret realm.

Carson Flores strolled through the marketplace, looking around and feeling as if his eyes were being opened to a whole new world.

The world of cultivators, though it seemed less bustling compared to the mundane world, possessed a simplicity and mystical charm. Surely, the goods here might not be as dazzlingly varied, but many items here could be considered unparalleled treasures if taken outside.

Elixir Store, weapon shops, general stores, Exotic Beast Store...

Carson continued down the street, browsing for a while, until hunger struck him upon smelling the savory aromas in the air. Without hesitation, he entered the largest restaurant in the marketplace.

Carson looked over the menu, ordered a few dishes, and asked for a pot of wine.

The clerk boasted that the dishes were grown in Spirit Soil, the chickens and ducks were raised on Spiritual Spring water and Spirit Valley grain, and the wine was brewed from Spirit Valley produce. Just for these few dishes, the cost was five Spirit Stones, the equivalent of half a month’s worth of Carson’s cultivation income.

But Carson wasn’t troubled by this; after all, hadn’t he just earned a hundred Spirit Stones not long ago?

Spirit Stones were meant to be earned and spent, weren’t they?

And if he really ran out of money, he could always enter the Secret Realm to make more.

Once the dishes and wine were served, Carson took a bite and his eyes lit up—these really were delicious!

Not to mention the taste, when he ate these dishes, Spiritual Energy was rapidly released and absorbed in the blink of an eye. Although the amount was not large, if he could eat such food regularly, the continuous benefit would undoubtedly aid in cultivation.

As Carson poured himself a drink, a tall and handsome young man with a fox-like face at the next table inhaled deeply and said with a smile, "Ah, the five-year-old rice wine brewed from Spirit Valley... It has a unique fragrance!"

Carson turned his head to look and saw the young man enjoying a bowl of plain noodles, and he couldn’t help but smile.

This guy was clearly doing it on purpose, waiting for an invitation to join.

Carson laughed and said, "Brother, it seems you appreciate good wine. If you don’t mind, why not join me for a meal?"

The young man brought his bowl over without a second’s hesitation, showing not the slightest bit of unease or embarrassment as he said with a bow, "Situ Xiu at your service, brother, how may I address you?"

"Carson Flores."

Situ Xiu replied with a smile, "This plain noodle is just too bland, so I spoke up deliberately, hoping to join you for a better meal. Brother Carson, you’re generous. My thanks in advance!"

Since Situ Xiu had explained his intention openly, Carson immediately felt a bit more fondness for him.

This man was not pretentious.

"Drinking alone is no fun, and neither is playing cards by oneself. Having a companion like Brother Situ to liven things up is just right."

Situ Xiu chuckled, "Seeing the way you ordered, you must be new around here, right?"

Carson nodded, "Yes, I’m still quite bewildered by it all."

Situ Xiu laughed heartily, "Well, that’s good. I’ve spent quite some time around Flying Waterfall Mountain Peak and am familiar with everything here. Brother Carson, feel free to ask me anything you’re curious about."

Carson had invited Situ Xiu with that very thought in mind. With wine to ease the conversation, what was there that couldn’t be asked?

"Great!"

Situ Xiu seemed to have endured hardship for some time; he ate and drank with great gusto, devouring the food voraciously. The dishes were quickly overwhelmed, and Carson motioned for the server to bring more dishes and more wine.

Situ Xiu grew somewhat embarrassed, "Brother Carson, you’ve just arrived and probably only received ten Spirit Stones. With these extra orders, you’ll be left without a single stone."

Having chatted with him for some time, Carson found him to be straightforward and knowledgeable about various matters. Wishing to befriend him, Carson replied with a smile, "No trouble at all. I just happened to pick up a hundred Spirit Stones before heading out. We have plenty to enjoy ourselves."

Situ Xiu’s eyes widened, "Picked up? How did you manage that?"

Carson was about to answer when suddenly footsteps came from the stairway entrance, and Duke Reid and Gregory Pearson appeared at the landing, followed by a man who looked to be in his thirties.

"I was sure he headed to the marketplace, but no idea where he’s hiding now. Elder Gu, let’s eat first and deal with him later. The place is only so big; he can’t fly off..."
