Chapter 630: Chapter 630 Heaven and Earth_1
"Are you a Cultivator?"
The white-haired old man suddenly turned around, his gaze full of surprise.
Carson Flores smiled slightly, "I’ve been lucky to receive some casual guidance from a master."
The white-haired old man nodded, "Luck is indeed very important for Cultivators. It’s elusive, but it really exists. When life becomes very long, you’ll realize that luck is often the true factor that dominates your life... Come with me."
The white-haired old man leapt up, onto the path that seemed to be amidst the clouds, and Carson followed closely behind.
The moment Carson’s toe touched the path, he felt something and looked back. The thick fog seemed to suddenly drift in, blocking his vision as well as the scenery of the mortal world.
"Once you’ve entered the Blessed Land of Cave Heavens, stop thinking about returning. Of course, if you have the ability to gain the Cave Master’s approval, you can enter and leave at any time."
Carson looked back and smiled, "Alright."
The white-haired elder looked at the calm Carson with a touch of surprise in his eyes.
This young man seemed different from the ordinary Cultivators of the mortal world.
As far as he knew, no matter who it was, upon coming to this Blessed Land of Cave Heavens, they all acted cautiously, whereas Carson was composed, curious, but not fearful.
Perhaps it was because he was a Cultivator himself and knew more about the Blessed Land of Cave Heavens?
The two walked along the mountain path. After a while, Carson suddenly spoke, "Old sir, may I ask questions?"
The white-haired elder answered, "You may ask, but I might not answer."
Carson asked with a smile, "I heard that those who are brought to the Blessed Land of Cave Heavens by the Gatekeeper are qualified to see the Cave Master, and that this meeting could decide their future path?"
The white-haired elder nodded, "I am indeed taking you to see the Cave Master now, but whether the Cave Master sees you will depend on his mood."
Carson nodded, then asked, "How many Sects are there in the Nutwood Heavenly Cave, and what is their strength like, what is the relationship between the Sects?"
The white-haired elder looked at Carson with an approving gaze and, apparently, he was already preparing for his future path.
The white-haired elder explained, "There are four Sects, the Crane Sect, Thousand Swords Sect, White Sun Sect, and Myriad Phenomena Sect. Their strengths don’t differ too much, but the Thousand Swords Sect is widely recognized as the strongest, and the White Sun Sect the weakest. As for their relationship, they compete with one another, yet none are sworn enemies."
Carson thought for a moment, then asked, "Would it be fair to describe them as brothers within a family, with internal conflicts, but ultimately they are family?"
The white-haired elder laughed, "That’s a fitting analogy, approximately the idea."
Carson continued to inquire, "What should I pay attention to when meeting the Cave Master?"
The white-haired elder shook his head, "Hard to say. First, I don’t know if the Cave Master will meet you; second, I don’t know what his attitude would be; third, I’m not familiar with the Cave Master; I’m just a Gatekeeper after all. Just act according to your heart."
"Alright!"
Carson did not continue to ask incessantly. After three questions, he closed his mouth.
Following the path down the mountain, Carson saw a village and as he passed through, the roads became wider. Ahead was a large, ancient city gate, and indeed it was an immense ancient city.
What shocked Carson was that floating above this ancient city was a massive conical mountain!
The mountain was vast, so large its edges were invisible, and it was very high, soaring into the clouds like a sword, without knowing how much higher it reached above the clouds.
"Both the village and the ancient city are home to the denizens of the cave heaven. The Pure Sky Mountain above is where the Sect Master resides. Similar to this old city and floating mountain, there are many others; each of the Four Great Sects occupies one. Just like in the mortal world, the dream of the residents living on the ground is to one day ascend the floating mountains and become a Cultivator in one of the Four Sects."
Carson blinked and looked up at the huge peak, asking, "Are we going... up there?"
The white-haired elder replied, "Yes, the Cave Master resides above these white clouds. As an ordinary person, this might be your only chance to ascend, and even if you descend later, you would live on the ground. But since you’re a Cultivator, you shouldn’t need to return to the ground. As for where you will ultimately belong, that will depend on the Sect Master’s decision."
The white-haired elder led Carson to a place in the city center that looked like a huge manor. Upon entering, Carson saw a vast pond filled with giant cranes, at least as tall as a person, leisurely preening their feathers.
After some simple negotiations, Carson was assigned a robust crane, which glanced sideways at him with intelligent eyes.
Carson always felt that this crane’s look was somewhat peculiar, as if it somewhat looked down on him, with a city dweller’s disdain for a country bumpkin.
They mounted the cranes, which flapped their wings and swiftly flew upward, ascending faster than a helicopter.
Carson only felt the wind whistling past his ears, his heartbeat inevitably quickening.
This was far more thrilling than bungee jumping.
The crane shot straight into the sky, breaking through the clouds before leaping out, with the golden sunshine of the sky pouring down, a sight to behold.
The crane ascended a few hundred meters before approaching the mountain, then gently landed on an outward-jutting platform.
From afar, the platform looked small, but up close, it was also several acres in size, with four or five wooden huts and a huge ancient tree by the door that was so big it blotted out the sun with its extensive branches.
The crane landed.
The white-haired elder respectfully said to the house, "Cave Master, this person has come with the Heaven’s Prophecy jade. According to the rules, I have brought him to see you. Will you see him or not?"
"Creak!"
The wooden door opened, and out stepped a man with the noble appearance of a jade statue and a cold expression, crossing the threshold with his gaze landing on Carson. He gave a brief scan, his eyes revealing a hint of surprise.
"Golden Core Realm?"
