Chapter 584: Chapter 584 Are You That Scary Now?_1
Carson Flores and Shirley Miller had just stepped out when they immediately spotted the imposing luxury car and a group of dandified disciples waiting on the side of the road to watch the show.
The car door slid open, and Desmond Hoffman got out with a cold face, followed closely by Messiah Frost.
"Carson Flores, you sure think highly of yourself, making us wait for you for half an hour!"
"No one asked you to wait, and if you didn’t want to wait, you could have left."
Carson responded casually, not even bothering to look at Desmond Hoffman as he directed his gaze straight to Hank Hoffman, whose presence was obscured by the darkness within the car.
Desmond Hoffman’s eyes were practically shooting fire, but he was utterly helpless.
After all, he couldn’t beat him, could he?
He had no choice but to turn his head, looking at Hank Hoffman with a pitiful, pleading gaze, "Grandpa, look at this kid’s attitude!"
Hank Hoffman said gravely, "Carson Flores, about you beating up Desmond today, how do you want to settle this?"
Carson chuckled relaxedly, "I hit for nothing, and he got beaten for nothing. It’s his own fault for provoking me."
"Arrogant!"
Hank Hoffman stated coldly, "I know you both are Innate Grandmasters, but the Hoffman Family is never short of Innate experts. Being young is an advantage for you, but it’s no excuse for you to act recklessly!"
Carson laughed heartily, "If you had my strength at the age of twenty-seven, you would be even more arrogant than me."
Hank Hoffman sneered, "I’m speaking to you as the Family Head of the Hoffman Family. I’m already aware of the cause of this matter. Carson Flores, if you just apologize to Desmond, then we can consider the matter over; otherwise, the Hoffman Family’s face isn’t so easy to slap."
Just apologize, and it’s over?
Desmond Hoffman said angrily from the side, "My face is swollen from being hit, and it’s all okay with just an apology? I should at least slap him a couple of times in return, or this matter isn’t over!"
"Shut up!"
With an angry shout filled with fury and a stern glance from Hank Hoffman, Desmond coughed up a shiver, not daring to utter another sound; however, his eyes were filled with obstinacy, clearly not agreeing with his own proposition.
Carson Flores had smacked himself twice, and it’s supposed to be settled with just an apology? How could there be such a good deal?
Without killing Carson Flores, he should at least slap him back, right?
Hank Hoffman didn’t pay attention to Desmond Hoffman and instead focused his gaze on Carson Flores, awaiting his response.
Carson smiled lightly, "I did nothing wrong, so why apologize? He got hit because he deserved it. You, the Hoffman Family, don’t discipline him, so I did it for you. No need for thanks, as I don’t care about that."
Hank Hoffman’s expression grew ice-cold, "Carson Flores, are you deliberately making an enemy of the Hoffman Family? You don’t think the Hoffman Family is as easy to wipe out as the Vasquez Family and the Reid Family, do you?"
Carson replied confidently with a smile, "Of course not. The Hoffman Family’s patriarch is one of the top ten martial artists in the region, with over a dozen Innate Great Grandmasters. I certainly don’t intend to be an enemy of the Hoffman Family, but you see, I respond well to soft approaches, not to hard ones. If the Hoffman Family insists on wielding its noble status to make me grovel, then sorry, my waist is too stiff to bend."
Hank Hoffman’s gaze was icy, "Are you supporting Adriel Frost?"
Carson smiled, "Adriel is my cousin; it’s only natural for me to help him, isn’t it?"
Hank Hoffman sneered, "Fine, I’ll remember today’s incident, and we’ll settle our account later."
Carson chuckled, "Sure, I’m all in."
Hank Hoffman coldly commanded, "Desmond, little Messiah, let’s go!"
Messiah obediently got into the car, while Desmond exclaimed with widening eyes, "Grandpa, are we just going to let it be?"
Hank Hoffman turned around, his cold gaze landing on Desmond Hoffman.
Desmond shivered and dared not mutter another word, hurriedly getting into the car. The black sedan started and quickly disappeared into the air.
Carson Flores withdrew his gaze from the car, sweeping it over the likes of Marcus Gibbs and the others; the color drained from their faces instantaneously, and they turned on their heels and ran as if Carson were a man-eating Demon King, poised to devour anyone who lagged behind.
Shirley Miller smiled with pursed lips, "You’re quite fearsome now, aren’t you? Look how scared they are..."
Carson replied with a smile, "Who told them I am a specialist at wiping out clans, a skilled expert at that? The Hoffman Family might not be afraid, but can they afford not to be?"
Shirley said softly, "Looks like we’re going to confront the Hoffman Family head-on."
Carson laughed, "If it’s unavoidable, then so be it. But judging by Hank Hoffman’s tone, he seems to know something. We need to go back and find out what kind of challenge Messiah Frost and Adriel Frost are up to."
Shirley nodded, "Let’s find out. The only real issue might be the Hoffman Family patriarch; he seems a bit tricky to handle."
Carson remained unconcerned, "The Hoffman Family surely won’t mobilize their full force just to back Messiah, and the patriarch himself is even less likely to intervene personally; otherwise, it would be too blatant a loss of face."
Shirley inquired, "What if they shamelessly do intervene?"
Carson grinned, "Well, in that case, I’ll ask Kaenu Hail to step in. He’s been wanting to do me a favor; even if he doesn’t take action, just a word from him should be enough to solve the problem."
Shirley laughed lightly, her smile serene, "Worst comes to worst, I’ll just reveal my identity. The Hoffman Family probably doesn’t have the courage to openly antagonize a Cultivator from Rajevols..."
