Chapter 499: Chapter 499: Lower My Quality of Life?_1
Spiritual Energy!
Carson Flores sat cross-legged with his eyes closed, but his heart was filled with immense surprise and joy.
He had managed to sense the existence of Spiritual Energy in just one day, even though it was as fine as strands and threads floating in the air, extremely sparse.
Discovering—absorbing—transforming, this was the essence of cultivation.
Carson absorbed it for half the day but, to his frustration, he realized a distressing reality: the Spiritual Energy was too thin!
The human body was like a fan; when one cultivated, the fan was activated, allowing the absorption of Spiritual Energy within a certain range. The stronger one was, the larger the range they could draw from. With Carson’s current power, he could basically only draw in Spiritual Energy within about a three-meter radius. However, the amount of Spiritual Energy within this range was pitifully low!
If the overall concentration of Spiritual Energy was high, the Spiritual Energy from the surrounding areas would naturally flow into the region recently emptied by a cultivator. But now, with the Spiritual Energy so thin, the strands and threads of Spiritual Energy around Carson were absorbed, and there was hardly any difference in concentration from the surrounding areas, making it take an extremely long time for the area to restore its balance of Spiritual Energy.
With this environment, what the hell was the point of cultivating?
It was completely pointless!
Suddenly, Carson understood why no one like Wilson Weiss, a powerful being, emerged in the world anymore - with such low levels of Spiritual Energy, even if one had divine techniques, they were useless unless one found land rich in Spiritual Energy. Where in the world could one find a place as abundant as The Unknown Land?
No wonder so many Sects and noble families were desperately searching for ways to enter Blessed Land of Cave Heavens. Only by entering a Blessed Land of Cave Heavens with ample Spiritual Energy and having a Cultivation Technique could one’s longevity be within reason.
"Shall we go watch a movie tonight?"
"Sure!"
Since cultivation was ineffective, Carson no longer bothered to struggle and casually agreed, then turned to ask, "Auntie, are you coming with us?"
Leah Frost answered with a smile, "I’d rather not be a third wheel."
Carson asked, "So what are your plans?"
Leah Frost said with a laugh, "I’m going on a blind date."
Carson widened his eyes, "A blind date? But, aren’t you constantly being asked for contact information by people you meet on the street? Do you even need a blind date?"
Leah Frost snorted, "It’s arranged by a relative. I can’t easily refuse since I’m in my thirties with no job or boyfriend, can I?"
Carson chuckled, "A Frost Family relative?"
Leah Frost nodded, "Yeah, a great-uncle introduced us. I can’t reject it and lose face. Anyway, it’s just dinner, no big deal."
Carson teased, "Who knows, you might hit it off?"
Leah Frost pursed her lips, "Someone really suitable wouldn’t need to go on blind dates."
Carson laughed, "Alright then, we’ll leave you to it."
"Fine!"
Since they planned to watch a movie, Carson Flores and Samantha Tate decided to have dinner at the food court in the mall.
"You sit and keep our spot. I’ll go get the food."
"Okay!"
As Carson lined up and returned with a tray full of food, he found that his seat was taken by two men in their twenties.
Samantha Tate saw Carson coming back and pointed at him with her slender finger, chuckling, "See, my boyfriend’s back. I wasn’t lying to you!"
Carson curled his lip; beautiful people seemed to attract flies wherever they went.
He placed the food tray in front of Samantha, his gaze falling onto the two men as he spoke indifferently, "Gentlemen, are you hard of hearing or something, didn’t you hear her say she’s already taken?"
The two men exchanged a look and suddenly burst into laughter.
The one wearing a black trench coat smiled, "She is just dating you, not married to you. Besides, even if she were married to you, couldn’t she still get a divorce?"
The man’s words amused Carson; the guy certainly had thick skin. Most people would’ve backed off by this point, right?
"What’s the matter, you fancy my girlfriend, do you?"
The trench coat man ignored Carson, turning his head to look at Samantha with a slight smile, "Beauty, we happened to see you while passing by. Someone as beautiful as you deserves a better life. You should be frequenting upscale hotels, driving luxury cars, wearing designer clothes, carrying brand-name bags—not eating unsanitary and tasteless street food here..."
Samantha blinked, "But I like street snacks."
The trench coat man’s face stiffened, and he went straight to the point, "Time is short, so I’ll cut to the chase. Your beauty makes you deserve better. If you agree to be my girlfriend right now, I’ll transfer you two hundred thousand in cash, and then take you to buy a million-dollar car as a show of my sincerity..."
Samantha blinked again, looking up at Carson, "Brother, is he asking me to lower my current quality of life?"
The trench coat man blinked, a bit confused, "Lower the quality of life?"
Samantha nodded earnestly, "Yeah. You see, my boyfriend bought me a Ferrari F8, worth over three million. If I were to be with you, and you bought me a car worth only one million, wouldn’t that be a downgrade?"
The trench coat man was stunned, glanced sideways at Carson, "Him?"
Carson didn’t say a word but casually took out his car keys from his pocket and placed them on the table, "Yes, me!"
