Chapter 484: Chapter 484: Hunter in the Darkness_1

You?

One slap from you, and my head might have flown off!

Josie Howell dared not let Carson Flores strike, she clenched her teeth, adding a lot of force to her hand.

This time Josie Howell really did use her strength, her face quickly swelled up, and blood spilled from her mouth.

"Smack!"

"Smack!"

...

After several slaps, Josie Howell looked utterly miserable, her messy gray hair, the splattering of blood, the scene was shocking to witness.

Carson Flores just watched coldly.

Without a word from Carson Flores, Josie Howell didn’t dare stop, and just as her sanity was about to break, she finally heard Carson Flores’s voice.

"That’s enough."

Josie Howell’s spirits lifted, she raised her head, looking expectantly at Carson Flores.

Carson Flores’s gaze swept over Garrett Howell and the others, all of whom hung their heads in shame and horror, not daring to meet Carson Flores’s eyes.

Carson Flores walked to the middle of the house, picking up his backpack, and spoke indifferently, "Those medicinal herbs are a gift to you, consider it a favor to Mr. Howell. I’m sparing your lives, just make sure we don’t cross paths again."

Even though Carson Flores had once saved Jaiden Howell’s life, and Jaiden had repaid him, all things considered, Carson Flores didn’t owe Jaiden anything. But after all, it was Jaiden who had recommended him to join under the pressure of his family. If Carson were to wipe out the Howell Family, even though he wouldn’t be in the wrong, it would still be somewhat embarrassing.

In the Underground City, there was no distinction between day and night. Carson Flores walked along the street, several hundred meters without discovering anything. At a crossroads, Carson Flores stopped to discern his next direction.

He had been in the city for quite some time and had only encountered one team from the Sect, indicating the city’s vast area.

"Ahh!"

A piercing scream suddenly cut through the night, coming from far away.

Carson Flores swiftly leaped to the roof of a building at the side of the street, looking into the distance where there was a faint light trembling about two kilometers away.

"Help... Ah!"

The tragic cries continued, and they seemed to be from more than one person.

Carson Flores didn’t hesitate and rushed toward the source of the screams.

By the time Carson Flores had covered more than half the distance, the miserable cries abruptly stopped.

It looked like he was too late.

Carson Flores wasn’t there to save anyone; he was there to watch the excitement and see if there was an opportunity to loot amidst the chaos.

Where there’s fighting, there are inevitably conflicts of interest. In other words, if there’s a battle, it’s definitely for something valuable; otherwise, who would kill without reason?

There were still lights ahead, strikingly bright in the darkness.

Carson Flores slowed down, cautiously moving forward, and peeked around the corner of a wall to where the light was shining.

With just one look, Carson Flores’s pupils shrank suddenly, and a look of fear appeared on his face.

Blood!

Blood everywhere!

A few strong flashlights lay scattered on the ground, and under their glow, blood was everywhere, with a strong scent of blood in the air. The source of the blood was several skeletons, now dripping with it.

Carson Flores counted, and his heart sank.

Five!

This was the number typical of a Sect team!

In the brief time just passed, something had attacked this Sect team, killing them all and devouring their flesh and blood in a very short period.

Carson Flores’s gaze fell on the scattered backpacks on the ground; some clearly contained items, but they were left there, unclaimed.

Carson Flores’s expression grew grave; obviously, the attacker wasn’t from another Sect team, otherwise, they wouldn’t have left these backpacks behind.

The attacker was most likely not human.

There was an unknown hunter in this Underground City, lurking in the darkness, preying on them, the invaders.

Since the attack had just happened, was the attacker still lurking in the darkness, silently watching him, looking for a chance to prey on him?

That sensation of being watched reemerged, stronger than before, as if he stood in a square surrounded by crowds of people who suddenly all turned their heads to stare malevolently at him.

A chill ran up Carson Flores’s spine, he shone his flashlight around and then climbed over the wall beside him, rushing into the building.

Carson Flores picked up an oil lamp from inside the building, walked straight to the woodshed, smashed the lamp into the pile of firewood, and ignited it.

The flames rose in an instant, and Carson Flores grabbed a bunch of burning straw, immediately setting fire to everything combustible in the building.

Everything was very dry and caught fire quickly, soon the flames enveloped the inside of the house and began to spread to the roof.

The entire house was ablaze.

"Boom!"

Carson Flores suddenly broke through one corner of the house and dashed outside.

As Carson Flores landed, his gaze fixed, and his body stiffened instantly.

Dozens of ugly monsters, resembling giant bats, were perched on the ground and rooftops in the distance, stacked in layers upon layers, swarming thickly, and their eyes filled with the air of death all stared intently at Carson Flores...
