Chapter 459: Chapter 459: Show Your Head but Hide Your Tail, Are You Afraid to See People?_1
"Are they here yet?"
Leah Frost put down the phone and nodded, "In about five minutes."
"Good!"
Carson Flores responded and quietly stood in the shadow of the trees, silently waiting.
Rocky Stein was still clad in all black, her entire body wrapped tightly, with only her eyes visible. She spoke in a deep voice, "Who are we waiting for?"
Carson Flores calmly replied, "We’re waiting for backup."
Rocky Stein was slightly startled, "An Innate Grandmaster?"
Carson Flores nodded, "Naturally."
Rocky Stein’s expression shifted subtly, and she spoke no more, but her respect for Carson Flores had already grown.
She knew that the woman beside her, wearing a mask, who had dispatched three Great Grandmasters and one Innate Grandmaster of the Vasquez Family, was probably not much older than she was—perhaps she had the secret to eternal youth, but definitely she was much younger than herself.
Rocky Stein didn’t know who she was, nor did she understand her relationship with Carson Flores, but she could feel they were very close.
Where had Carson Flores found such a powerful Innate Grandmaster?
A car came from the twilight, stopped, and two people dressed in black with black hoods—only their bright eyes exposed—got out.
Rocky Stein’s shock intensified. Two more Innate Grandmasters!
That meant even without her, Carson Flores could count on the help of three Innate Grandmasters, the same number that the entire Divine Cloudy Sect had.
A sense of urgency and anxiety began to rise in Rocky Stein’s heart, as Carson Flores’s words echoed in her mind again.
With so many Innate Grandmasters on his side, it seemed Carson Flores didn’t really need her help after all!
If she didn’t take advantage of Carson Flores’s current need for assistance while his power was still not at its peak, to make a few more moves and earn some medical fees for the upcoming years, then once he became an Innate Grandmaster and could easily call upon a few, or even a group of Innate Grandmasters for help, she might not even qualify to offer assistance!
This thought brought a twinge of regret to Rocky Stein.
If only she had taken the initiative to help Carson Flores dispatch the remaining Great Grandmasters and strike at the Innate Grandmaster of the Vasquez Family, perhaps that could have counted as several contributions.
Of course, Carson Flores was unaware that the arrival of the two Frost Family ancestors had caused Rocky Stein so much inner turmoil, and increased her reverence and pressure. Otherwise, he might have had to suppress a chuckle—sometimes things thrive without intention, like willows planted unintentionally yet providing shade.
Leah Frost stepped forward, had a quiet word with the two elders, and then approached Carson Flores, "Alright, let’s set off."
"Good!"
Carson Flores knew that everyone preferred to keep their identities hidden, so he didn’t bother with formalities and led the way into the forest.
The forest was dark and overgrown with weeds, but it posed no difficulty to a Great Grandmaster and four Innate Grandmasters. The five moved through the woods with swift, light steps, like specters in the night.
They emerged through the forest to see the Vasquez Family ancestral estate in the moonlight.
The Vasquez Family estate was situated in a village. After the family had prospered, they expanded the area into a small manor. They occasionally came here for cultivation retreats. Normally, it was staffed by Vasquez Family members who took care of the estate and looked after the graves of their ancestors.
Carson Flores led the party to the estate wall. He leaped onto it and called out, "Isaias Vasquez, no more sleeping, rise and shine!"
"Pfft!"
Leah Frost couldn’t help but laugh below the wall. She had thought Carson Flores would call out menacingly, "Isaias Vasquez, come out and face your death," but instead, he had delivered that line.
The expressions in the ancestors’ eyes were odd, this fellow seemed very relaxed.
But that wasn’t surprising with four Innate Grandmasters backing him. Anyone would feel relaxed.
A light came on in a room within the estate, and the door soon opened. The figure of Isaias Vasquez appeared at the doorway, eyeing Carson Flores coldly.
"Kid, you’re like a rat in a sewer, finally brave enough to show your face," he said.
Carson Flores laughed, "What can I do? I’m not an Innate Grandmaster. I’m not strong enough to charge ahead recklessly. My skull isn’t that thick, nor am I that foolish!"
Isaias Vasquez sneered, "Where are the people you brought? Come out together, stop hiding your heads and showing your tails."
Carson Flores chuckled and waved towards the others, "I brought quite a few people. I’m just worried you’ll turn and run at the sight of them."
With that gesture, the four figures below leaped up onto the wall, flanking Carson Flores on each side.
Isaias Vasquez’s expression remained unchanged as his eyes coldly surveyed the four figures and he taunted, "At this point, you’re all still skulking around, unwilling to show your faces. Are you afraid to be seen?"
