Chapter 386: Chapter 386 Your Parents are Still Alive_1

Dusk had deepened.

Johnny Gross lay in bed, already fallen into a deep sleep, when the faint sound of footsteps suddenly startled him awake, and he abruptly opened his eyes.

The footsteps stopped on the balcony, right outside the door leading to it.

"Thump, thump, thump!"

A gentle knocking sounded, not loud, but it seemed to strike Johnny’s heart, making it tighten with each beat.

Hesitating for two seconds, Johnny got out of bed, walked to the door, and pulled it open.

Carson Flores stood at the door, his gaze fixed calmly on Johnny.

Johnny let out a sigh, "Come in and talk."

Carson remained silent for two seconds, then followed Johnny inside and carelessly shut the door, "You knew I would come to you?"

Johnny sat down beside the bed, looking at Carson’s face with a nuanced gaze, "The Miller Family was stricken from the cultivation world overnight, and all three Grandmasters of the family were dead, even Beckham Miller who had fled overseas didn’t escape. I was wondering about the reasons, but the moment I laid eyes on you at the Martial Battle Arena, it all became clear."

Carson casually pulled up a chair and sat down, "Since you knew I would come find you, why didn’t you flee?"

Johnny smiled bitterly, "I could flee, but with so many from the Yuexiu Sect, where could I go? Since you’ve tracked me down, you obviously wouldn’t let me off easily."

Carson’s gaze was subtle, "Indeed, if you had fled, I would have started with the other people from Yuexiu Sect. After all, you weren’t the only one involved in that year’s events."

Johnny looked at Carson, "Did Peter Miller tell you?"

Carson nodded, "Yes."

Johnny smiled bitterly, "He must have told you that I’m most likely the one who killed your father, didn’t he?"

Carson squinted his eyes slightly, "What’s the truth?"

"Your father, your mother, neither are dead."

Carson’s heart suddenly pounded violently, an uncontrollable wave of joy sweeping through him.

They were actually still alive?

Since Carson decided to investigate his own origin, he had been mentally prepared to learn they were dead, but now he was receiving news that they were alive, which was a complete surprise.

It was like a traveler making their way through a mountain trail, the path ahead becoming narrower and more like a dead-end, but after turning a corner at the end of the dead-end, an open and wide concrete highway unexpectedly lay before them.

Amidst seeming desolation when hope seemed lost, a sudden turn brings a blooming village into view.

It took Carson several seconds to process the news before he then asked, "You saw me today and ran, but why did you stop running afterwards?"

Johnny answered frankly, "My first reaction upon seeing you was that you had come to seek vengeance. With you possessing the strength of a Great Grandmaster, I was no match for you, so of course, I thought to run, but then I reasoned I hadn’t killed your parents, so I wondered why I should run, and I decided to come back."

Carson nodded, "Since you were waiting for me, you must have been prepared, so tell me the truth about what really happened back then."

Johnny looked at Carson calmly, "Since you’ve already asked Peter Miller, you know the preliminary events, don’t you?"

Carson’s gaze was steady, "You might as well start from the beginning. We have plenty of time before dawn."

Johnny didn’t argue. He nodded and began to recount the events of that year.

The first half matched what Peter Miller had said, up until the point where Johnny and Peter Miller had separated while chasing Westin Flores to the lakeside, but the story began to diverge.

"I followed the lakeshore and soon found the traces where Westin had emerged from the water. I followed the trail for a few miles, and then I saw your father. He was not alone; with him was a woman holding a child, your mother Lucy Frost."

"Before I had decided what to do, they spotted me, and then your mother and I started to fight. I couldn’t win and feared your father would join in, so I fled temporarily."

"I didn’t want to give up on the Heaven’s Prophecy jade, so I followed them, looking for an opportunity to strike."

"Knowing that I was still trailing them, they kept moving until nightfall, and suddenly, your mother turned on me, and we fought once more. I backed off again, and when I circled back, I found that the child your mother had been holding was gone."

"Your father called out to me, who was hiding in the shadows, and told me that both the Heaven’s Prophecy jade and the child had already been sent away, and that it was pointless for me to follow them any longer."

Listening to this, Carson had begun to form a rough conjecture in his mind.

His parents were worried that staying close to them would be dangerous for him, so had they entrusted him and the Heaven’s Prophecy jade to his master Andrew?

In other words, he wasn’t just a child picked up by Andrew; it was very likely that his parents had personally given him and the Heaven’s Prophecy jade to Andrew?

Johnny let out a sigh, "I was chasing your father purely for the Heaven’s Prophecy jade. With the jade gone, and your mother still by his side, not to mention the jade being there, it would have been difficult for me to snatch it, so I was ready to leave. But at that moment, three unexpected guests suddenly arrived..."
