Chapter 329: Chapter 329: Why Mention the Unmentionable?_1

"You resemble that Innate Grandmaster from the Gilliam Family?"

"Yes!"

Shirley Miller answered with a smile, "Not exactly the same, but at least 80% similar. Oh, let me show you a picture of my parents..."

Shirley Miller took out her phone and flipped to a photo: "Here, this is a picture from my childhood. Look at my parents’ photo, I actually only look a bit like my mother, even less like my dad."

Carson Flores leaned in to take a close look. In the photo, Shirley Miller was very young. Shirley Miller’s father looked handsome and steady, her mother graceful and dignified, a well-matched couple indeed.

After scrutinizing the facial features of all three, then looking at the grown-up Shirley Miller before him, he realized Shirley Miller was right.

Shirley Miller really looked only a bit like her mother and nothing like her father.

Carson Flores joked, "It seems the Gilliam gene is indeed powerful, to remain so recognizable after so many generations. But then again, that elder from the Gilliam Family was not only skilled in cultivation but also a rare beauty. She must have had plenty of admirers back in the day in the cultivation circles..."

Shirley Miller’s lips curved into a smile, "Of course, there was even a nickname given to her, ’Fairy of the Whirling Wind’. You can imagine how graceful she must have been."

Carson Flores laughed, "Since you say you look 80% like her, I can naturally picture what that would look like. ’Innate Grandmaster’ fits perfectly with that nickname."

As they bantered, the two of them toured the entire house including the back garden. Shirley Miller told Carson Flores many of her past stories, which eased her mood considerably.

Eventually, the two returned to Shirley Miller’s bedroom. Shirley Miller pressed down on the mattress and laughed, "There isn’t even a bedsheet, can you sleep like this?"

Carson Flores laughed, "Never mind a mattress, I could fall asleep on the floor just as easily. But can you handle it?"

"It’s fine, you’re here after all."

Shirley Miller responded naturally, and by this time it was quite late. They didn’t wander around any further and simply lay down on the bed.

Carson Flores watched Shirley Miller squirming around to find a comfortable sleeping position, so he stretched out an arm, "Why not use my arm as a pillow?"

Shirley Miller pursed her lips, "Won’t it go numb?"

Carson Flores answered with a smile, "I’m a Cultivator with vigorous qi and blood circulation. Your little weight is nothing to me."

These kind of things, even if they would cause numbness, he couldn’t really say so.

"Thank you!"

Without any further courtesy, Shirley Miller leaned her head over and rested it on Carson Flores’s arm, effectively half-lying in his embrace.

Lying in this familiar house, even though all its furnishings had changed, that comforting feeling was still there.

After the emotional roller coaster earlier, Shirley Miller settled down and soon felt tired. It wasn’t long before she fell deeply asleep.

Carson Flores looked at Shirley Miller unconsciously snuggling into his embrace, curling up like a little kitten, and couldn’t help but smile.

After a few seconds, Carson Flores suddenly snapped back to reality. Huh, wasn’t he supposed to gauge the situation? How could he forget?

Perhaps all their recent conversation was filled with nostalgia, and Carson Flores subconsciously didn’t want to bring up something that might dampen Shirley Miller’s spirits?

Did Santino Vasquez rat him out or not?

Carson Flores thought it over and decided to drop the subject. Whether Santino Vasquez had tattled or not, since Shirley Miller didn’t ask about it herself, wouldn’t it be giving himself away if he brought it up?

If Santino hadn’t tattled, then by asking, he would be asking for trouble. But if Santino had and Shirley Miller didn’t care, then him obstinately asking would be bringing up an issue that could’ve been overlooked, wouldn’t it?

No more questions!

When morning came, Shirley Miller woke up on schedule and, seeing Carson Flores also awake, she said with a smile, "Let’s head back to the hotel. We still need to wash up and change clothes; we can’t go to work like this..."

Carson Flores laughed, "Okay, how did you sleep?"

Shirley Miller smiled, "Very well. Later, we can get some bedding and pillows, and then we can sleep here directly."

Carson Flores laughed, "Alright, after work, we can go shopping together, and then you can move in tonight."

Shirley Miller’s eyes filled with a hint of surprise, "Okay, how about dinner together tonight?"

"Okay!"

Carson Flores had a leisurely day at work, somehow getting through another day. He even dealt with the curious and gossiping Camille Rhodes, who was very interested in Shirley Miller’s reaction to Santino Vasquez ratting them out.

Upon learning that Carson Flores hadn’t asked and Shirley Miller showed no signs of anything unusual, Camille Rhodes laughed, "There are two possibilities, one is that Santino Vasquez didn’t rat you out, or maybe he didn’t care to get involved, like it never happened..."

Carson Flores laughed, "I know, and that’s exactly why I wouldn’t walk into the line of fire."

Camille Rhodes laughed, "The former goes without saying, but if it’s the latter, her reaction is quite interesting. You know, if you try a bit harder, the main flag may stay upright while the colored banners flutter around you, there’s hope..."
