Chapter 239: Chapter 239: I’m Definitely Not Angry!_1

"Angry?"

Mary Jimenez asked in surprise, "Why would I be angry? Haven’t we agreed not to interfere with each other’s personal lives? Miss Rhodes is so beautiful and has such good qualifications. If she takes a fancy to you, maybe you two could form an ideal match."

Carson Flores stared into Mary Jimenez’s eyes without speaking.

Initially, Mary Jimenez could meet Carson Flores’s gaze, but soon she could no longer bear it.

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

Carson Flores said softly, "I kissed you, and you’re not angry."

Mary Jimenez’s cheeks suddenly flushed as she lowered her gaze, "Well, it was just a brush on the cheek. Westerners even have that cheek kissing greeting..."

Seemingly aware that her excuse was far-fetched and unconvincing, Mary Jimenez bit her lip and said, "After all, we do have a marriage certificate. We’ve been together for so long; an accident happens, a kiss on the cheek, there’s nothing to be angry about."

Carson Flores blinked, "Not angry?"

With a definitive tone, Mary Jimenez answered, "Really not angry."

Carson Flores continued to ask, "If I go out drinking and kiss or touch other women, you wouldn’t be angry either?"

Mary Jimenez responded with an annoyed tone, "I already said I’m not angry; why do you keep asking? Let’s not even mention kissing or touching; even if you slept with her, that would be your own ability. I wouldn’t be angry about that either. Let’s drop it, it’s all nonsense. I’m going back to sleep."

With her face still red, Mary Jimenez turned and walked away, her heart in turmoil, forgetting to even ask about what transpired between Carson Flores and Camille Rhodes after their meeting.

Carson Flores watched Mary Jimenez’s retreating figure, a faint smile appearing on his face.

The reason he was being honest was, just as Mary Jimenez said, they weren’t a real couple. Secondly, Carson Flores was concerned about Camille Rhodes causing trouble, so by speaking up early, he at least laid some emotional groundwork.

It turned out that he cared a little about Mary Jimenez’s feelings, and Carson Flores could tell that despite saying she didn’t care, in her heart Mary Jimenez still had some thoughts.

The next day, Carson Flores received a phone call from Leonard Reid, who had set up a connection with the Miller Family’s arch-rival within the Seashore Eight Great Families—the Fitzgerald Family.

"The Fitzgerald Family?"

Carson Flores inquired, "Do they have business conflicts with the Miller Family?"

Leonard Reid explained, "The Fitzgerald and Miller Families have no business disputes; they are sworn enemies. The origins lie in the Miller Family killing an important person from the Fitzgerald Family, followed by mutual bloodshed with countless casualties on both sides. This feud has proven irreconcilable. Although decades have passed, because the struggle has never ceased, old grievances remain with new ones added."

"Both families want to completely destroy each other. It’s just that in recent decades, due to environmental factors and mutual considerations, the feud has been temporarily contained to a family duel staged every five years, preventing unrestrained carnage. But if given the chance to kill the other, neither side would hesitate to strike a deadly blow."

Carson Flores chuckled. An unresolved, blood-enmity—perfect!

Such an ally is reliable!

Much more so than enemies of mere business interest like the Martinez Family.

"Do you have time this afternoon? I’ve arranged to meet them, sit down for tea, and have a chat."

"Okay, send me the location, and I’ll head straight there."

Carson Flores made a call to Lydia Howell, "Drive this afternoon, accompany me to a place."

"Sure."

Since he was about to form an alliance, he had to demonstrate his strength. Otherwise, local powerhouses like the Eight Great Families wouldn’t take him seriously, let alone engage in an equal partnership.

Carson Flores and Westin Flores took some time off, then set out with Lydia Howell to their appointment.

The tea house for their meeting was a peaceful and elegant place, resembling a small courtyard with many speckled bamboos planting around, creating a tranquil environment.

In the courtyard, Leonard Reid and the Fitzgerald Family Head, Shiloh Fitzgerald, were having tea, with a man in his fifties sitting behind Shiloh Fitzgerald, and behind Leonard Reid, there was an elderly man with gray hair.

As Carson Flores and Lydia Howell walked in, Leonard Reid stood up and warmly greeted, "Mr. Flores, come, let me introduce you. This is Mr. Shiloh Fitzgerald."

Shiloh Fitzgerald remained seated in his chair, his gaze indifferently landing on Carson Flores, "I hear you’re Andrew’s disciple?"

Shiloh Fitzgerald’s tone was cold, filled with the arrogant aloofness endemic to noble families.

Seeing this, Carson Flores made himself at home, pulling out a chair and sitting down, "That’s right. Does Mr. Fitzgerald have any doubts?"

Shiloh Fitzgerald frowned, "Can you speak on behalf of your master?"

Carson Flores’s expression shifted slightly, he leaned back in his chair, lightly smiling, "I’m not sure how old Leonard explained this matter to you, but there seems to be a confusion about one thing."

Shiloh Fitzgerald’s gaze stayed on Carson Flores, "What’s that?"

Carson Flores smiled, "It’s me who wants to deal with the Miller Family, and it has nothing to do with my master. He won’t be involved in this at all."

Shiloh Fitzgerald’s eyebrows furrowed deeper, and he sneered, "Andrew’s name is indeed significant, but for the Fitzgerald Family, he’s simply a strong martial artist, nothing more. By dropping your master’s name, you expect the Fitzgerald Family to cooperate with you, but I’m afraid you’re thinking too highly..."
