Chapter 229: Chapter 229: The Beauty’s Curse_1

"What’s wrong with the security guard?"

Carson Flores chuckled lightly, "Can’t security guards go to bars for a drink? Being good at fighting is expected of them, isn’t it? Otherwise, how could they protect the factory’s safety?"

The woman in the black dress smiled sweetly, "That makes sense."

She sized up Carson Flores, "A security uniform doesn’t suit your temperament, military uniform would suit you better."

Carson Flores’s gaze shifted slightly. Had this woman checked up on him?

Even if she did, the information she’d have gotten should be false, given that Dark Blade’s level of confidentiality is high; there wouldn’t be too many people in the entire country with access to his files.

Carson Flores didn’t bother with beating around the bush and frankly said, "You checked the taxi, then the hotel, and had someone watch my movements and follow me here, right? Out with it, what do you want to do?"

The woman in the black dress pursed her lips and chuckled lightly, "I’m here to invite you to dinner."

Carson Flores curled his lip, "And then you set me up and get back at me?"

The woman in the black dress shook her head, "Why would I do that? The incident that night was consensual. What’s there to seek revenge for? It’s not like you didn’t want to leave a phone number. Otherwise, why would I need to go to such lengths to find you?"

Carson Flores didn’t believe a word the woman in the black dress said, and laughed, "If you’re not out for revenge, then what do you want with me? You know, I’m married."

The woman in the black dress laughed, her demeanor seductive and compelling, "I can’t not even know who kissed and embraced me, right? I’ve never been insulted like this before in my life. I came here today to get to know you again and make friends."

Carson Flores remained unmoved, "I’m just a security guard, far out of your league. I still have to work and provide for my family. I’m not like you, miss, with so much spare time."

The woman in the black dress’s eyes gleamed slyly, "Work? If you’re worried about that, maybe I should pay a visit to Ms. Miller and ask her to give you some time off. Although I haven’t met Ms. Miller before, giving a security guard some time off surely won’t disturb the factory’s order. I’m sure she won’t refuse me. Don’t you think so?"

Carson Flores’s gaze turned cold. This woman had investigated not just him but also his marriage and Shirley Miller.

She was using that as a threat against him.

If he didn’t accept her invitation, she’d go to Shirley Miller; as for what she’d say, it would depend on her mood.

Carson Flores wasn’t actually afraid of her going to Shirley Miller; after all, his relationship with Shirley Miller wasn’t real, and Shirley had said she wouldn’t meddle in his private life. He could even date other women as long as he didn’t bring them home.

Nevertheless, Carson Flores wasn’t ready to escalate things to Shirley Miller. Judging by the woman’s demeanor, she wasn’t easy to deal with. If she realized Shirley Miller couldn’t threaten him, she’d certainly think of other ways to achieve her goals.

It might be better to see what game she wanted to play!

Moreover, Carson Flores was now somewhat curious about the woman’s background.

Now, as he was preparing to deal with the Miller family, if he could get some extra help, his chances of success would be higher.

Carson Flores checked his watch, "I get off in ten minutes. Wait for me in the car. Don’t interfere with our work here."

The woman in the black dress felt accomplished, a smug smile spreading across her face, because she thought she had grasped Carson Flores’s lifeline.

Carson Flores must be really afraid that she would go tell on him to Shirley Miller.

"Alright, I’ll wait for you in the car."

The woman in the black dress sent Carson Flores a flirtatious smile and gracefully turned back to her car.

Augustus Vasquez leaned in the window, full of curiosity as he asked, "Carson, girl you picked up at the bar?"

Carson Flores nodded, "She hit on me, and I flirted back a bit. I didn’t even leave contact information, and she still found me."

Augustus Vasquez sounded a bit worried, "If she could find you through a series of things, she must have quite the resources. Be careful, Carson. Maybe you should just play along, keep the peace. Otherwise, if she runs to your house and complains to your wife, wouldn’t that disturb the peace at home?"

Carson Flores smiled, "No worries, I want to see what game she’s playing."

Augustus Vasquez saw that Carson Flores was calm and not worried, his tone shifted back to admiration, "Carson, you’re awesome. Even such a stunning beauty throws herself at you—totally admirable."

Carson Flores said with a laugh, "Beauty is a double-edged sword. She doesn’t seem like an easy one, but that’s fine. If she wants to play, I’ll play along."

Once his shift ended and he was replaced at his post, Carson Flores went back to the security office to change into his own clothes and left the factory.

As he headed for the Bentley, his own BMW X5 drove out from the factory, its rear window halfway down, revealing the figure of Shirley Miller.

Shirley Miller spotted Carson Flores and also saw the Bentley in front of him. She looked puzzled, who was this now?

The window behind the Bentley rolled down, revealing the seductive face of the woman in the black dress. Her gaze passed over Carson Flores in front and landed on the BMW X5, locking eyes with the divinely aloof Shirley Miller seated in the back. Their gazes silently met in mid-air.

The woman in the black dress smiled, a beautiful smile like that of a fully blossomed rose.

Carson Flores, sensing something odd about the smile on the woman in the black dress’s face, subconsciously turned his head, then saw the BMW X5 gliding past him, and, right before his eyes, Shirley Miller...
