Chapter 221: Chapter 221: Is it the Kind of Security We’re Thinking of?_1

"A class gathering that’s all high-ranking bosses, and I’m just a security guard, why would you bring me here? Aren’t you afraid of losing face?"

Samantha Tate clung to Carson Flores’s arm, pressing close without any hesitation: "Even if you are a security guard, you must be the most handsome one. What have I got to be afraid of?"

Carson Flores laughed and said, "At these gatherings, they all talk about how their companies are expanding or going public. I wouldn’t be able to even get a word in, and I might just end up being ruthlessly mocked."

Samantha Tate chuckled: "That’s okay, you can just confidently tell them you’re a security guard, and then I’ll tell them I just love security guards, that’ll show them."

Carson Flores teased: "So, it seems you have quite a few admirers, huh?"

Samantha Tate pouted: "Most of them are hypocritical middle-aged sleazebags with wives and kids at home who can’t keep it in their pants, thinking they’re so charming and wanting to see if they can start an affair."

Carson Flores couldn’t help but chuckle: "Not even a few young and promising types?"

Samantha Tate said with a grin: "Oh, there is one, an eligible bachelor from a wealthy family with quite the background. I can’t just offend him outright, so I have to ask for my brother’s help. I don’t believe he can still be interested in pursuing me after he sees me hugging and kissing you..."

Carson Flores laughed: "I guess they would think it’s a classic case of ’pearls cast before swine’."

"What nonsense, we are a perfect match!"

Samantha Tate added an air of drama then pushed open the door to the private dining room: "Here we are."

Inside the room, there were two large tables with a dozen people at each, all of them smartly dressed in designer labels.

All eyes instantly turned towards them as they entered, the looks on their faces varied.

"Miss Gu, so this is your boyfriend? Introduce him to us."

Samantha Tate led Carson Flores to the table, and with a smile, she said, "My boyfriend, Carson Flores."

Carson Flores nodded and smiled at everyone in greeting, then sat down.

He immediately spotted the eligible bachelor that Samantha Tate had mentioned; sitting among the crowd, he was hard to miss.

Three words suffice to describe him.

Tall, rich, and handsome.

The look he gave Carson Flores was complex; not quite hostile, yet filled with scrutiny and assessment, clearly weighing Carson’s worth in his mind.

The food was already on the table, and Samantha Tate picked up her chopsticks, swiftly peeled a shrimp, and placed the meat in Carson Flores’s bowl.

"This goes well with drinks, brother, give it a try."

Carson Flores smiled: "Okay."

One peeled the shrimp and offered it, and the other graciously accepted. Their actions were natural, and many watching had their interests snuffed out.

The people here had a keen eye; Carson’s clothes may not have been designer, but the watch on his wrist, a new Patek Philippe model worth over a million, didn’t escape their notice.

Beyond that, Carson’s calm demeanor was something that couldn’t be feigned.

All present were wealthy and successful, yet he sat among them without a hint of discomfort or unease; that said a lot in and of itself.

Men coveting beautiful women is normal, but with her boyfriend right there, looking handsome and obviously no simpleton, many naturally held back, not wishing to stir up trouble.

"Mr. Flores, hello, my name is Alexander Roth, I own a chain of electronics stores..."

The man sitting next to Carson Flores initiated the greeting, clinked glasses with him, then asked, "Mr. Flores, what line of work are you in?"

Carson Flores took a sip of his drink and smiled: "Can I not say?"

Alexander Roth was taken aback, asking curiously, "Is it some special industry with nondisclosure agreements?"

Carson Flores shook his head: "No, it’s just that you might not believe me if I tell you."

Someone at the side laughed and said, "Try us, let’s see if we believe you."

Carson Flores smiled and said, "Security guard."

Alexander Roth was stunned for a moment and then laughed: "You mean you run a security company?"

Carson Flores shook his head: "No, not running a company, just working as a security guard."

Alexander Roth was truly taken aback this time, not just him but everyone at the table had a look of incredulity on their faces.

A security guard?

Could it be possible?

Although Samantha Tate’s family’s real estate company wasn’t huge, she was still a wealthy heiress. Would she fall for a security guard?

That had to be a joke.

Alexander Roth laughed: "Mr. Flores, that joke is so good that we almost believed it."

Carson Flores shrugged and smiled: "There, I told you you wouldn’t believe it, but you insisted."

Alexander Roth instinctively looked towards Samantha Tate, who was barely holding herself together.

The effect was better than expected.

Had Carson Flores introduced himself as the richest man in the province, the impact could not have been as striking as it was now.

Seeing Alexander Roth look at her, Samantha Tate couldn’t hold back a laugh: "He’s not kidding, he really is a security guard."

Alexander Roth was dumbfounded: "The kind we’re thinking of?"

Samantha Tate nodded seriously: "Yes, exactly the kind you’re thinking of, one that sits at the company’s entrance..."
