Chapter 207: Chapter 207: Bloodsucking Leeches_1
As soon as Shirley Miller finished speaking, the commotion among the crowd instantly escalated.
After ten seconds, the first person left the crowd.
The second...
The third...
Like a breached river, more and more people were leaving, and the dense crowd visibly dispersed at a fast pace.
Eithan Fuentes and the others grew somewhat panicked.
They had not expected Shirley Miller to be so resolute. They thought that due to her young age, they could easily bully her.
They misjudged.
Eithan Fuentes and his companions exchanged glances. Soft whispers ensued among them and the panic that surrounded them was promptly subdued.
A minute later, the crowd of hundreds dwindled to only twenty or thirty people.
Davis Bernard didn’t dawdle either. Having already chosen a good spot to take photos, he clicked his camera, capturing all those who remained.
Shirley Miller said coldly, "All of you are relieved of your duties, go back and wait for further notice."
Eithan Fuentes scoffed, "Ms. Miller, are you not willing to leave us a way out?"
Shirley Miller responded coldly, "It was you who overstepped. I gave you the chance to resign on your own, but you didn’t appreciate it. You can’t blame me for getting serious."
Eithan Fuentes laughed, "Ms. Miller, perhaps you’re a big shot in Polgel, but this is Seashore, not Polgel; this is our turf. If you want to get serious, let’s see if you have what it takes."
Eithan Fuentes took out his cellphone and made a call, "Come over, everyone!"
Davis Bernard, his face tense, asked, "Eithan Fuentes, what are you planning to do?"
Eithan Fuentes smirked, "Just giving Ms. Miller a little show; otherwise, she’d think we’re soft persimmons ripe for the picking."
Shirley Miller, arms crossed, retorted coldly, "Alright, let’s see what you’re relying on."
Eithan Fuentes laughed loudly, "Well, keep your eyes peeled."
Moments later, the roar of engines sounded in the distance. A large group of motorcycles approached, each bike carrying two young men with tattooed arms, clearly local thugs. Each held a baseball bat and made intimidating noises.
A truck loaded with bricks arrived and stopped at the entrance of the factory, blocking the gates. The driver jumped out of the vehicle, shouting in an exaggerated tone, "Ah, the truck’s broken down and can’t move. What to do, what to do?"
The tattooed men on the motorcycles burst into arrogant laughter.
"Isn’t this a pharmaceutical plant? There are plenty of workers inside; why not have them come out and help you move the truck?"
"Just leave it there for now, we’ll find someone to fix it later."
"What if it gets towed away?"
"Let them tow it, haha, I’d like to see them try to move it!"
Shirley Miller, watching from afar, said coldly, "So this is your tactic?"
Eithan Fuentes, oozing with pride, said, "Ms. Miller, around here, whether your factory can keep operating or not is up to us. Don’t think just because you have many workers, everything is fine. If every day a few workers get beaten up for no reason, do you think they’ll dare to come to work?"
"One phone call, and your factory’s staff won’t even be able to leave the premises, let alone move stock in and out. Production will have to stop. Oh, the money you’ll lose each day! Not to mention the penalties for failing to deliver goods. It really pains me to think about it."
Shirley Miller glared at Eithan Fuentes, "You wouldn’t create such a spectacle just to keep your jobs, would you?"
Eithan Fuentes chuckled, "Sure, I could stay, but I guess you wouldn’t like seeing me around. Since that’s the case, and we’re not going to cross paths, we can resign as you wish. However, we’ve all dedicated so much to this factory. Ms. Miller, don’t you think you could give us some severance pay?"
Shirley Miller asked calmly, "How much do you want?"
Eithan Fuentes smiled, "Two conditions. First, let bygones be bygones, and don’t pursue any investigation into what we’ve done before. Second, as compensation for the resignation of so many of us, give us ten million. Don’t think it’s too much, Ms. Miller, we aren’t few in number; when you split it among us, it’s not that much per person. Especially considering we’re part of the management, even standard severance would amount to a fair sum, right?"
Shirley Miller scoffed, "You really are leeches, sucking the blood from others. You swindled the previous owner to the point of having to sell the factory, and now you want to leave and still extort a final sum."
Eithan Fuentes, with a triumphant air, waved his hand dismissively, "Ms. Miller, it’s pointless to talk about all this. Just tell me if you agree or not."
Benicio Combs laughed, "The Miller Group is large and wealthy; they can surely afford this. You wouldn’t want the pharmaceutical factory you painstakingly acquired to just go to waste here, right?"
Shirley Miller smirked coldly, "Ugly as you are, you sure dream pretty dreams."
Eithan Fuentes’s face turned sullen, "Ms. Miller, are you refusing to agree and wanting to fight to the bitter end, is that it?"
Shirley Miller glanced at Eithan Fuentes and turned to give an order, "Davis Bernard, get rid of the truck at the gate."
Davis Bernard appeared troubled.
Not a local, Davis Bernard, who had been recruited from outside, naturally disdained the thuggish behavior of Eithan Fuentes and the others. But he also knew how troublesome these local bullies could be.
How does an outsider fight a gang of locals?
Carson Flores stepped forward, smiling, "Chief, let me give it a try."
