Chapter 195: Chapter 195 Are You Just a Small Fry After All That Hype?_1
Following Conor Jimenez’s words, several men playing with their phones or smoking on the nearby sofa stood up and approached with a menacing gaze, encircling Carson Flores.
"Manuel Howard hasn’t been the factory manager for a few years now, and he even sold the factory recently. You’re coming to me now; isn’t it a bit late?"
Carson Flores chuckled, "Not late, not late at all. You threatened my brother and his family, making it impossible for him to remain the factory manager. I think you should compensate my brother, and my niece."
"Compensate?"
Conor Jimenez laughed as if he had heard a huge joke, "Even if I were to compensate, would he dare to accept it?"
Carson Flores chuckled lightly, "Why not give it a try and see?"
Conor Jimenez sneered, "Compensate, huh? Sure, that depends on whether you have the ability. Since you’ve come back from the military and even dared to show up here, you must think you’re quite the fighter. Well, let’s give it a try. If you can beat my brothers, we can talk compensation. But if you can’t, you might have to crawl out of here today."
Carson Flores replied with a smile, "Simple and crude. I like it. Come on... Ten seconds should be enough, I reckon."
Ten seconds?
Conor Jimenez lifted his chin and sneered, "Take him down!"
Following Conor Jimenez’s command, everyone, including those playing mahjong, charged towards Carson Flores.
A series of screams erupted instantaneously, and Conor Jimenez’s smile froze on his face.
Carson Flores dusted off his hands, smiling, "Eight seconds. You guys were a little short-handed. Care to call a few more?"
"Gulp!"
The mahjong tiles Conor Jimenez was holding fell onto the table as he struggled to swallow his saliva, eyes wide with undisguised terror at Carson Flores, who sat down across from him.
His men were scattered on the floor, two with clearly broken arms, another’s fingers bent back at a ninety-degree angle—serious injuries all around.
This guy was ruthless!
Conor Jimenez realized he had stumbled on a tough nut; without another word, he started citing his background, "You can fight, sure. But I’m with the Second River Hall. If you lay hands on me, that means you’re disrespecting Second River Hall. Second River Hall won’t let you off."
Carson Flores smiled, "Second River Hall, sounds pretty impressive. I’ve just come back and am not too familiar with things here. Why don’t you fill me in?"
Conor Jimenez, with sideways glances and an arrogant tone, boasted, "Second River Hall is named after the two great rivers passing through Seashore. With a history spanning decades. The Hall Master, Edgar Harrison, is part of the Harrison family in Seashore, a man with formidable strength. In his youth, he fought in the Seashore underground boxing scene, securing a record of thirty-one victories and no defeats, earning the nickname ’Edgar Invincible’."
Carson Flores was slightly taken aback. Handling a thug dragged him into a sequence of powers?
"Cultivator?"
Conor Jimenez sneered, "That’s right. The Harrison family has been a renowned family of cultivators in Seashore for decades. By challenging me, you challenge Second River Hall, and to challenge Second River Hall is to challenge the Harrison family..."
Carson Flores laughed, "That’s quite an extensive background to sort through. So after all this, what exactly is your role in Second River Hall?"
Conor Jimenez’s expression suddenly became a bit awkward. He was just a minor figure in Second River Hall, hardly ever having the opportunity to see Edgar Harrison.
"My big brother is Eagle Brother; he’s one of the top eight generals under the Hall Master."
Carson Flores laughed, "So after all that bragging, you’re just a lackey. Fine, I’ll wait here while you make your call."
Conor Jimenez, face flushed with mockery, saw that Carson Flores was not the least bit intimidated and had no choice but to call his boss.
"What’s up, Jimenez?"
Conor Jimenez forced a smile, "Eagle Brother, my place got smashed, all my men taken down. Someone’s looking to stand up for Manuel Howard, the former factory manager..."
"How many did you say were there?"
"Just one guy. He’s really good."
"Wait there!"
Conor Jimenez hung up the phone, suddenly pompous again, "Kid, you’re done for!"
Carson Flores casually pulled up a chair, sat down at ease, and lit a cigarette, casually remarking, "You must’ve made a tidy sum over the years with your brother, huh?"
Conor Jimenez sneered, "None of your damn business!"
Carson Flores chuckled, "What should’ve been a trivial matter, you just had to blow up. Well, it’s better to make you give up completely, so you won’t feel aggrieved afterward and cause more trouble."
Conor Jimenez eyed Carson Flores’s young face, puzzled, "I’ve never heard Manuel Howard had a brother?"
Carson Flores leisurely smoked, "He’s much older than me; isn’t it natural to call him ’brother’?"
The more Conor Jimenez tried to understand Carson Flores’s background, the more he couldn’t, but he was quick-witted, "Recently, the pharmaceutical factory got a new boss, and the new boss came here just a few days ago. You suddenly show up to take up Manuel Howard’s cause. Could it be that Manuel Howard is preparing to return as the factory manager?"
Carson Flores looked at Conor Jimenez with a hint of surprise. It seemed the world wasn’t short of smart people.
"You do have some insight. Here’s what I propose: we have no grudge, and didn’t know each other before. I’ll give you a chance. You come over and apologize to Manuel Howard, make some compensation, ease his concerns, and let him confidently assume the role of factory manager. Also, make your brother resign of his own accord and spill all the shady dealings in the factory. I’ll call the shots and let you guys off the hook, not pursuing any of your past dirty deeds."
Watching Carson Flores relaxed in his chair, Conor Jimenez scoffed, "Big talk for someone who might bite off more than he can chew!"
