Chapter 181: Chapter 181: You Have the Air of a Master_1

"Today is your birthday, I should do something to mark the occasion."

Samantha Tate held her wine glass, laughing lightly, "Don’t blame yourself, I deliberately didn’t tell you. Having you here is enough!"

Carson Flores smiled and said, "Even though you say that and I’m touched, I still think there should be something to commemorate this moment, after all, this is the first birthday of yours since we’ve met..."

Just as Samantha was about to speak, she saw Carson raise his hand and wave to a waiter nearby.

Samantha Tate widened her beautiful eyes. What was he preparing to do?

In Samantha’s disbelieving gaze, the waiter wheeled out a trolley from behind the bar with a small but exquisite cake on it, lit with candles, and beside it lay a bunch of bright red roses with a box placed on top of them.

Surprise that couldn’t be hidden filled Samantha’s eyes. "When did you prepare this?"

Carson smiled and said, "When I heard it was your birthday, I picked out a birthday gift and asked a colleague who happened to be out to run an errand for me. It’s just to show my thoughts, to have something to remember in the future."

Samantha was pleasantly surprised; she had deliberately not told Carson earlier because she didn’t want to put him on the spot. After all, although they were lovers, something seemed slightly off, yet she didn’t expect that Carson, even in a rush, had still managed to prepare a gift for her.

"While on the car?"

Carson nodded: "Yes... Samantha, happy birthday! Make a wish and blow out the candles!"

"Okay!"

Samantha’s heart was about to burst with joy, not because of the gift Carson sent, but because of what the gesture meant.

He cares about me!

He likes me too!

Samantha clasped her hands together, made a serious wish, and then blew out the candles.

Carson handed the box to Samantha. "Have a look, do you like it?"

Samantha bit her lip and gently opened the box; inside was a sparkling diamond necklace.

She recognized it at a glance—Van Cleef & Arpels’ new model for the year, priced at 880,000.

"Ah, brother, this gift is too precious!"

Carson smiled and said, "I noticed you like wearing off-the-shoulder and one-shoulder gowns, your collarbone is very attractive, and your skin is fair. This diamond necklace should look beautiful on you... do you like it?"

"Love it! I really love it!"

Her eyes were full of joy, "Brother, can you help me put it on?"

"Of course!"

Carson stood up, moved behind Samantha, and placed the diamond necklace around her neck.

Under the light, the diamonds sparkled, her skin was fair, her cheeks blushed, stunningly beautiful.

"Thank you, brother! This is the first gift you gave me, it’s very meaningful. I’ll keep it for a lifetime."

Carson smiled, "As long as you’re happy."

In the blissful and sweet atmosphere, the two finished their birthday dinner.

When they went downstairs, Carson, looking at Samantha in her evening dress, smiled and said, "Wait here for me a moment, I’ll bring the car around."

"Okay!"

Carson went to the parking lot to fetch the car and drove to the entrance of the hotel, but his expression suddenly darkened.

By Samantha’s side, there was a silver-haired old man watching him with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile.

Unaware, Samantha was about to get into the car, when the silver-haired old man suddenly reached out, grabbed her arm, and smiled, "Miss Tate, Mr. Flores, our young master would like a word."

Samantha was startled and turned to look, "Who are you?"

Just as Carson was about to step out of the car, the silver-haired old man smiled, "Mr. Flores, please stay put. If you move, I might have to strike her, can you guess the outcome?"

Carson stopped the motion of opening the door and asked in an even tone, "Oscar Miller?"

The silver-haired old man smiled, "Yes."

Carson nodded readily, "Fine, how should we proceed?"

The old man opened the rear door and guided Samantha to sit in the back seat, smiling, "Would you mind playing chauffeur once, Mr. Flores? Shouldn’t be an issue, right?"

Carson smiled back, "Not a problem, just tell me where to go."

The old man gave an address, Carson followed the navigation and then started the car, merging into the stream of vehicles.

As Carson drove steadily, he asked, "I haven’t seen you before, are you a member of the Miller Family?"

The silver-haired old man smiled and answered, "My surname is Chen, just one name, Roth. I’ve been with the Miller family for over forty years. Now, I act as a chauffeur for the young master, ensuring his safety."

Carson nodded in understanding, "So, a butler, a master fighter, right?"

Wesley Roth smiled, "You could say that."

Carson inquired casually, "Oscar having you invite us this way doesn’t seem very friendly. Is he planning to settle scores with me?"

Wesley Roth maintained a serene smile, as if it was etched onto his face, "You have insulted the young master and the Miller family, naturally, things need to be straightened out."

Carson’s curiosity seemed piqued as he asked, "So, what’s Oscar planning to do to me? Ruin my cultivation or perhaps kill me outright and make me disappear?"

Wesley Roth replied, "I don’t know, but the destination isn’t far. Soon you’ll have your answer, do stay calm."

"Stay calm?"

Carson glanced at the rearview mirror, "You sound confident like a real expert. Make sure to keep it up later!"
