Chapter 1447: Chapter 1447: One Up One Down, One Left One Right

Selah Ellison Fairy remained motionless.

The Death Imprint was smoothly placed onto Selah Ellison Fairy by Carson Flores, and the aura of vitality on Selah vanished in an instant, as though she had turned into a lifeless stone.

"Don’t practice cultivation, or it’ll lose effect."

While Carson quickly instructed her, the rock wall suddenly shattered and came crashing down toward the two of them.

Carson braced himself with both arms, shielding Selah beneath him, while his back supported a thick slab of stone. The rock wall was prevented from completely collapsing, creating a small triangular zone of support.

Carson let out a sigh of relief.

Thank goodness!

Though he possessed the Immortal’s Body, with steel-like strength that made him resistant even to such a collapsing mountain, being buried alive under the dirt would still make anyone uncomfortable, right?

The triangular space wasn’t high—about as tall as Carson’s forearm. With his hands pressing against the ground, Selah lay directly beneath him, her face upturned, looking at Carson.

Face to face, eyes meeting eyes.

Their posture was undeniably suggestive.

The pressing sand and stones obliterated all traces of light, plunging the narrow space into pitch black darkness. Not a single speck of light could be seen.

The two of them stayed motionless in the gloom, wary of being discovered by the Golden-Winged Great Roc. They maintained the intimate positioning, even with their legs tightly pressed together.

The darkness heightened their senses. Each could distinctly pick up the other’s scent and hear the sound of their breathing. Even the air stirred by those breaths brushed lightly against their faces, causing a few strands of hair to sway gently.

Carson felt a bit awkward. His actions earlier had been instinctive—after all, Selah couldn’t use her cultivation practice, and given his steel-like body, it was only natural to protect her, wasn’t it?

But now, the peculiar position made it seem... ambiguous—almost like a romantic couple hesitating in their final moments of passion.

Selah gazed upward at Carson. In the darkness, she could not see his expression, but she could faintly make out the contours of his face.

She had been gifted with extraordinary talent since childhood. After stepping onto the Immortal Path, she had always considered herself above others, never having been in such close proximity to any man. Adding to the discomfort was the thought of Carson having seen her body – even if only her back – which still left her feelings conflicted.

Carson’s thoughts weren’t far off. A significant reason why Selah hadn’t killed him was undeniably because of his handsome, striking appearance and his clear, sincere gaze.

If someone sleazy or a middle-aged man with greasy looks and a lecherous gaze had stepped out from behind the rocks instead, Selah’s Flying Sword would have struck without hesitation.

The two of them remained in their quiet, intimate positioning for quite a while. Though sounds from outside continued, they were slowly fading into the distance.

"What did you put on me just now?"

Carson replied, "The Death Imprint of the Mark of Life and Death—it conceals the aura of vitality."

Selah asked, "What about the Seal of Life?"

Carson smiled bitterly, "I haven’t learned that yet."

Carson explored his surroundings with his hands, determining the limited size of their space, then suggested in a low voice, "The rock wall seems stable and shouldn’t collapse. How about I lie sideways?"

The current positioning was undeniably suggestive. Both of them felt awkward.

Selah nearly wanted to strike Carson down, but then remembered how he had acted instinctively to protect her, shielding her from detection by the Golden-Winged Great Roc. If she killed him despite his genuine efforts, it would truly be ungrateful and unjust.

"Alright!"

Carson exhaled in relief and began withdrawing his left arm. "Move slightly to your right and try to stay closer to the rock wall."

Selah gritted her teeth but complied, thereby freeing up some space next to Carson’s right arm.

Carson shifted sideways, pressing himself closely against the rock wall and lying down. Their positioning changed from one above the other to side by side.

The triangular support area wasn’t all that spacious. While accommodating one person was manageable, fitting two made things feel undeniably cramped.

There was no way to lie flat, forcing Carson to remain curled sideways. Even so, their bodies remained largely in contact.

Feeling the texture of the skin pressed against hers, Selah clenched her teeth and felt a twinge of regret.

In hindsight, charging out earlier might have been the better choice.

If push came to shove, she could have fought the Golden-Winged Great Roc again.

However, considering the present situation, retreating now would render all prior efforts meaningless.

And besides, with the Golden-Winged Great Roc’s speed, escaping would be nearly impossible.

Fine, Carson wasn’t intentionally taking advantage of her. Given the urgencies of their predicament, enduring it would have to suffice.

She too turned sideways, her back facing Carson.

"Turn your back to me!"

Carson obediently complied, rolling over to face the rock wall, leaving the two of them back to back.

Carson finally breathed a sigh of relief. Their previous positioning had resembled a sleeping couple—Selah facing away while Carson held her from behind. Even if Carson lacked ulterior motives, such proximity inevitably stirred his imagination, making it difficult for him to control his thoughts.

Don’t let your mind wander!

If he lost self-control and Selah noticed, her shame and fury might actually push her to kill him!

Though she couldn’t outmatch the Golden-Winged Great Roc, dealing with him would be an entirely different matter—she’d only need a single finger.
