Chapter 1426: Chapter 1426 You Cheated
Evangeline Waters’ magic robe was tattered and soaked with blood, the white of her bones ominously visible, with significant loss of flesh.
Half of her face was gone, revealing only dark red flesh and white teeth; the other half was pockmarked and bloodied, resembling a ghoul from Hell with a half-skull face.
What happened to her?
Carson Flores instinctively thought of the Metal Block Formation they had just passed. Could it be due to Spencer Steele giving her the wrong coordinates, leading her to this state?
Upon seeing Carson Flores, Spencer Steele’s eyes flashed with excitement, and he quickly got up from the ground and ran over.
"Master, you’re here!"
Carson Flores looked her over and, seeing that she was unharmed, heaved a sigh of relief.
"What happened to her?"
Spencer Steele whispered, "The map I gave her was wrong, she had just crossed the Ferry Immortal Bridge when I had already passed the Metal Block Formation; she followed and then stepped wrong, almost dying there."
"She was so furious she wanted to kill me on the spot, but then I told her that I had joined the White Crane Immortal Sect as your disciple, with the Sect Master being my elder disciple brother. Surrounded by people, she dared not attack but instead sat next to me, plotting something, I presume."
Carson Flores scanned the crowd but didn’t see Claire Harrison, so he asked, "Where is Claire Harrison?"
Spencer Steele’s eyes narrowed slightly, a hint of schadenfreude crossing her face, "She and Evangeline Waters were together in the formation. After Evangeline Waters was severely injured, she used Claire Harrison as a pathfinder. Claire Harrison was struck by lightning, turned to ash, both body and spirit gone. But because of that, Evangeline Waters survived. Otherwise, both might have died."
Carson Flores smiled, "Well done. Claire Harrison must regret passing information to Evangeline Waters and letting her abduct you, and Evangeline Waters must regret letting you draw the map..."
Spencer Steele pursed her lips, "Sooner or later, as long as I’m alive, none of them will escape!"
Carson Flores grunted, "What’s the situation now?"
Spencer Steele shook her head, "Someone spoke a single word earlier, ’wait.’"
Carson Flores, recalling the "Huh" he heard, whispered, "No one has appeared?"
"No."
Spencer Steele softly replied, "Everyone speculates it’s the Primordial Spirit Incarnation of this place’s master, certainly a formidable individual. Since we’ve been told to wait, naturally, no one dares make a move."
Carson Flores nodded approvingly and chose a spot at the edge to sit down cross-legged.
Spencer Steele moved next to Carson Flores and calmly sat down cross-legged, her previously anxious heart suddenly settling down.
Evangeline Waters glared at Carson Flores with a vengeful look. Compared to Spencer Steele, she harbored more hatred towards Carson Flores.
If it wasn’t for Carson Flores meddling, this matter would have concluded earlier, and she wouldn’t have ended up in such a monstrous state, neither human nor ghost.
If forced to choose between killing Carson Flores or Spencer Steele, she would undoubtedly choose Carson Flores without hesitation!
Carson Flores, ignoring Evangeline Waters’ bitter gaze, sat peacefully cross-legged, quietly waiting.
There were more than twenty people on the scene, and if this was indeed the final selection, having to choose a fated person from among so many increased the odds compared to before.
They waited another two days.
The cultivators were indeed patient, as each of them could spend years, even hundreds of years, in closed-door cultivation.
A figure silently appeared atop the massive White Jade Statue’s shoulder, casually sitting with one leg on the statue and the other dangling in mid-air.
"I had hoped for some unrivaled geniuses, but it turned out to just be a bunch making up numbers..."
The sudden voice made everyone shiver, prompting them to look up swiftly.
Seeing the young man who looked exactly like the White Jade Statue, everyone’s heart rate accelerated.
It was indeed a Primordial Spirit Incarnation!
It appeared he was indeed the master here, as even the White Jade Statues erected were of himself.
Yet when the crowd heard the young man’s assessment of them, their moods once again turned awkward.
Just making up numbers?
While they may not all be unmatched geniuses, wasn’t each of them a Sect’s pride, gifted beyond others?
If someone else had said that, they would undoubtedly have retorted, but this time they all tacitly shut their mouths.
Why? Because the individual was powerful.
Even without knowing his identity and strength, could someone who established such a place be an ordinary immortal?
At minimum, he must be a Heavenly Immortal, if not even higher?
The young man’s gaze fell on Carson Flores, "For the third trial, others have used the cultivation techniques and sword techniques I left behind, but you, kid, cheated and toughed it out..."
Evangeline Waters suddenly brimmed with excitement, vicious delight bubbling up from within.
Carson Flores, expression calm, bowed slightly, "The guidelines for breaking through left by the predecessor only mentioned that using Defense Treasures was prohibited, not that using one’s own abilities was not allowed. Besides, if I used my skills to break through, doesn’t that prove I’m even more capable?"
